Chapter 562 - 542: Jiangzhou (Second Update)

Leaving the Xie Residence, Su Rong’s carriage went towards the city gate. With the Crown Prince’s token, they quickly exited the city gate.

After Su Rong had left, the lady of the house stood at the door for a while. She left reluctantly, teary-eyed, pulling out a handkerchief to dab her eyes only when urged by others to rest. "My beloved daughter whom I raised with great care is going to marry the King of Nanchu just like that."

How much she was willing to part with her, only she knew.

"You still have six daughters after Little Seventh has left. You have six daughters left." Her wet nurse gently reminded her.

The lady sighed, "That’s true."

But these six daughters, as beautiful as flowers, could not compare to that one little troublemaker who had given her so much worry from her childhood and now was going far away from her, leaving her worried and anxious.

She wiped her tears and returned to her room. Looking at the cold and empty room, she said to the wet nurse, "Tell someone to send letters tomorrow morning to let everyone know, so they don’t trouble themselves to send her off, only to find an empty house."

The wet nurse responded, "Ma’am, don’t worry, I will notify everyone immediately."

The very next morning, she dispatched messengers to every residence with the news to prevent them from making the fruitless journey.

Princess Sheng An sighed, "The child left in the middle of the night."

The Duchess was caught off guard, "She is one to avoid a fuss."

Princess Sheng An With a sense of helplessness, "I have no idea when we will see her again, a year or two would be short, but three to five years is a very real possibility."

The Duchess pondered, "The Nanchu Princess’s great wedding, our family should send someone, right? It might not be that long."

Princess Sheng An’s eyes lit up, her sadness vanished immediately, "Yes, we must go."

How could she possibly not attend his grand wedding? No matter how far, even if it was tens of thousands of miles, she would still make the trip there.

When the rest of the families found out that Su Rong had left in the middle of the night, they all gave up. Duanhua stomped her feet angrily, "She clearly said she would let me send her off but then left secretly. Unreliable."

Princess Qingping looked at her daughter, she didn’t expect these two young ladies, who had just met, to have developed such a deep friendship. She made an excuse for Su Rong, "She didn’t do it on purpose. Perhaps she received an urgent message in the middle of the night and had to leave hastily, she had no choice."

Duanhua, deflated, said, "Alright then!"

After leaving Capital City in the middle of the night, Su Rong rode hard towards Jiangzhou. After seven continuous days and nights of travel, she reached Jiangzhou.

Ever since Su Xu took his post in Jiangzhou, he had been busy with work, hardly having a moment’s rest. It was only when he finally got things on track that he had some spare time. When he was finally free, he found the residence to be empty.

The Su Family used to be lively, but now, after his wife and children left, it felt too quiet. Even with his six concubines in the residence, he still felt it too empty.

Especially after Xie Yuan left Jiangzhou, he found himself extremely bored when he was not working.

One day, he found himself devoid of any appetite, just sitting before the full table of food and sighing.

The concubines shared a look among themselves, also without any appetite. A cup of tea went cold without anyone using their chopsticks.

Su Xu noticed the silence and picked up his chopsticks, "Eat!"

The others also slowly began to eat.

After the meal, one of the concubines couldn’t help but say, "Master, it’s been a month since the lady has sent a letter back, hasn’t it?"

"Hmm."

"Well, has anything happened in the Capital? Why has even her letters stopped?" The third concubine asked again.

"It should be nothing serious. Xingze and Xiaoqi both left the Capital. Zhang Ping’s rebellion is a big affair and with the Imperial Court sending troops, she is probably too worried to write back," Su Xu, thinking he understood his wife well, said.

The concubines also began to worry when they heard this.

"You do not need to worry, Zhang Ping died suddenly, the Imperial Court won. We should receive a letter soon," Su Xu said. "Let us wait two more days, if she still doesn’t write, I will send someone to ask them."

All the concubines nodded in agreement.

The second concubine hesitated for a moment, then tentatively said, "Master, we also wish to go to the Capital. Lest the lady, all by herself, cannot handle the wedding affairs of the three ladies and is too busy, we can go and help out."

Su Xu glared, "If all of you leave, what about me?"

The second concubine immediately closed her mouth.

Annoyed, Su Xu said, "Each and every one of you wants to go, leaving me alone in the residence. You really don’t care about me anymore."

"How could that be, Master, don’t be angry," said the third concubine who was good at coaxing people. "Our daughters are getting married, three at once. We, as mothers, can’t just make the lady tired and not manage anything."

Su Xu also thought so, "So, when all of you leave, what about me?"

He was the one who could not leave.

The fourth concubine spoke up with laughter, "Master, don’t be angry, no one is going to leave you here. How about this, the three who have daughters getting married will go to help the lady, those of us who don’t, will stay at home with you."

The fifth and sixth concubines nodded their heads, "That’s acceptable, we have no objection."

All eyes turned to Su Xu.

Su Xu looked at the expectant faces of the three concubines. He sighed, "Fine! Pack your things, you can go to the Capital."

After the decision was made, the three concubines immediately went to pack their bags.

The fourth, fifth, and sixth concubines, realizing that Su Xu was still in a bad mood, stayed to chat with him.

Just as they were chatting, someone outside yelled, "Master, Little Seventh has returned!"

Su Xu doubted his hearing, "What?"

The fourth concubine quickly said, "It sounds like Little Seventh has come back?" 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

The fifth and sixth concubines both nodded their agreement.

Another shout came from outside, "Master, Little Seventh has returned!"

Su Xu sprang to his feet in delight, "Little Seventh has really come back!"

While saying this, he rushed out of his room.

The fourth, fifth, and sixth concubines also followed him out in excitement.

Su Rong got out of the carriage, stretched her limbs, and then strode inside.

Upon seeing Su Rong, the house servants were overjoyed. They all called out, "Little Seventh". Su Rong just smiled, greeting the servants as she walked in.

She hadn’t walked far when she saw Su Xu charging towards her at great speed.

Su Rong started laughing, "Father, why are you running? Be careful not to trip!"

Su Xu stopped, catching his breath, and looked her up and down in amazement, "Why are you back?"

He had expected her to be on her way to Nanchu by now.

Su Rong said: "I came back to see you and the concubines."

"Where did you come from? Is it the Capital?" Su Xu asked as he noticed Yuewan and wet nurse Zhao behind her.

"Yes, I came from the Capital to see home, then I’m going to Nanchu." Su Rong said, putting her arm in his. "Father, I heard from mother that you’ve been missing me?"

Su Xu was initially overjoyed, but upon hearing that she came to visit before heading off to Nanchu, he immediately stopped smiling, "How many days are you going to stay at home?"

"I’m leaving the day after tomorrow." Su Rong replied.
