Chapter 600 - 580: Rescue (Second Update)

Hen Zhong is being escorted by a group of guards and several vice generals.

Han Yin, being from the distinguished military family of Han in Dawei, naturally has covert guards protecting him. His army hasn’t suffered many casualties, so even with Su Rong and Ziye pursuing them, they can’t take much advantage at this point.

Fen Ling turned her head and said, "Sister, we can’t kill Han Yin, so we’ll just have to go for Hen Zhong."

"Let’s keep Hen Zhong then." Su Rong is resolute to hold onto one today. Since Han Yin temporarily can’t be killed, Hen Zhong, the traitor, certainly couldn’t be let go.

So, they let Han Yin escape and unanimously went after Hen Zhong.

Hen Zhong, looking at the large group of attacking covert guards and assassins, was in shock. He was carried by his men for a swift horse ride, but he could not outrun Fen Ling and Su Rong’s sword and gold needles.

The killing intent of the covert guards was like the Asura of Hell, quickly slaughtering all those surrounding Hen Zhong. Then, Fen Ling knocked Hen Zhong off his horse with one stroke. When he was about to land another, he seemed to remember something and asked Su Rong, "Sister, should we spare this traitor’s life and let His Majesty decide his fate? Otherwise, his death would be too easy for him."

"You are right." Su Rong nodded, "Bind him up."

Then she shouted loudly, "All the Nanchu Jinglu Troops, listen! This is Princess Su Rong, returning to Nanchu. Put down your weapons. Those who surrender will not be killed. Otherwise, you will face the same end as the traitorous Hen Zhong."

The Jinglu Troops, realizing they couldn’t escape and hearing Su Rong’s shout, immediately dropped their weapons and surrendered.

Han Yin, running ahead, faintly heard Su Rong’s shout. He turned back for a glance and cursed angrily, "This Hen Zhong, absolute trash!"

Over sixty thousand troops and he probably can’t take any of them with him. They’ll all be taken by Su Rong.

Han Yin held his breath, but there was nothing he could do. As long as he could get his men out, that was enough for him.

Breaking through the encirclement of the Daliang army also took quite a bit of effort. Han Yin, with his forty-five thousand troops, successfully took forty thousand with him. In the end, he lost five thousand to the army led by Su Rong.

Fen Ling tied up Hen Zhong and handed him over to the covert guards to watch over. Together with Qin Ruo, they started gathering all the troops, including the surrendered Nanchu Jinglu troops as well as Ye Guixue’s surviving soldiers, regardless of their injury extent.

As Su Rong rode over to Ye Guixue, she saw him being supported by men, his body drenched in blood. His face was just recognizable as the unblemished Second Young Master Ye who had bid her farewell outside the Capital City.

The Second Young Master Ye of that time was gentle and cultured, like a cloud in the sky, like the blue and green mountains. The current Second Young Master Ye has evidently suffered greatly, coming perilously close to losing his life.

Su Rong dismounted and greeted him, "Guixue, you’ve had it tough."

Ye Guixue grinned at Su Rong, shaking his head, "I almost thought I wouldn’t make it till your arrival, Your Highness. You came just in time, not only saving me but also everyone behind me."

Su Rong stood in front of him, "You look seriously injured. I’ll get Lan Zhi to tend to your wounds. Her medical skills are far superior to those of military doctors."

"Alright." Ye Guixue nodded.

Su Rong called over her shoulder, "Lan Zhi?"

Lan Zhi, carrying a medicine box, rushed over, "My lady."

"Please attend to Second Young Master Ye. He’s been severely injured, promptly administer treatment." Su Rong instructed.

Lan Zhi promptly nodded and said to Second Young Master Ye, "Second Young Master Ye, you..."

She wanted to say ’You should sit down.’ as seeing him standing there, blood dripping continuously from his body, was quite terrifying. Too much blood loss is not good, but taking into consideration the numerous corpses lying haphazardly on the ground around them, even if Ye Guixue found a spot to sit, it wouldn’t be appropriate for her to unwrap his clothes for dressing in front of her lady, an engaged woman, even though she is a doctor.

Ye Guixue seemed to not have expected that Lan Zhi was a woman and said to Su Rong, "I’ll find somewhere else, let the military doctor come! My wounds might look horrifying, but the military doctor can bandage."

"Oh come on, don’t fuss over formalities. The military doctors are all occupied. They only have common wound medicine, nowhere near as good as Lan Zhi’s. Your serious injury can’t be treated by that, let her tend to you. In a doctor’s eyes, there’s no distinction between men and women." Su Rong waved her hand, instructing Lan Zhi, "Find an open spot, quickly take him away."

Lan Zhi nodded and said to the man supporting Ye Guixue, "Follow me."

Ye Guixue, feeling helpless, waved to stop the man who was about to assist him. He introduced the man who had come up behind him to Su Rong, "Your Highness, this is my eldest brother, Ye Guiyan."

"Eldest Young Master," Su Rong greeted, carefully examining Ye Guiyan and noticing that he was not slightly injured either. She promptly offered, "Go along, let Lan Zhi tend to you too."

Ye Guiyan’s leg was injured and he was limping. Upon hearing Ye Guixue’s introduction of the lady before him, he quickly bent to pay respect, "Ye Guiyan offers his greetings, Your Highness."

"Eldest Young Master, there’s no need for formalities, hurry and go. The immediate concern is to treat your injuries." Su Rong motioned with her hand.

Ye Guiyan nodded.

Ye Guixue turned back for another glance but didn’t see Ye Xiang and Ye Xiang’s wife. He said to Su Rong, "My parents are also here, likely somewhere behind."

"I got it. I will go find Ye Xiang and his wife later. First, go and get your wounds treated. Once you’re bandaged up, find a place to set up camp, then we can sit down and talk," Su Rong responded.

Ye Guixue nodded his head, choosing not to say anything further this time. With Lans Zhi’s guidance, he was led away with some men supporting him.

Su Rong then went in the direction of where Ye Guixue and Ye Guiyan had walked from to find Ye Xiang and his wife. Not too far off, she spotted the couple, supporting each other, walking towards her.

She saw them and they naturally saw her too. The middle-aged man dressed in a brocade robe looked complex, a mixture of relief, sigh, and something else that she couldn’t identify at once. The beautiful and extremely charming woman’s eyes lit up and she asked her, "Are you the princess?"

Su Rong flashed a smile and greeted, "Ye Xiang, Madam."

"It is indeed the princess," Madam Ye was extremely excited and let go of Ye Xiang to quickly approach.

As she got closer, Madam Ye looked at the girl before her, slender and delicate, with a beautiful face and a fair complexion, beautiful and youthful. Although she was a young girl, she was calm and collected on such a bloody battlefield, her face adorned with a smile, completely untouched by the bloodshed.

She thought to herself, so this is Su Rong, the daughter of His Majesty, the Princess of Nanchu, the woman who was supposed to marry Guixue.

Some people’s good qualities are evident at first glance. She thought, I wonder what Lord Thursday, who made her give up Guixue, looks like. He must be quite special to have won the affection of a woman like her. After all, he had the audacity to break into Ye Xiang Residence, find Guixue, secretly escort His Majesty out of the Royal Capital; these are not things that ordinary people could conceive or execute.

"Thank you for arriving so timely, Princess. I, Madam Ye, pay my respects to you," Madam Ye bowed deeply before Su Rong.

Su Rong quickly reached out to hold Madam Ye’s arm, "Madam, please do not be so formal, we’re family."
