Chapter 654 - 634: Injury (an update)

Su Rong was heavily injured, and Zhou Gu was not in good shape either. After Zhou Gu carried Su Rong for a few steps, they were helped into a carriage.

The carriage returned to the residence, Doctor Zhang, having received the news, had already armed himself with his medical box, waiting for their arrival.

Setting Su Rong down on the bed in her room, Doctor Zhang noticed the severity of her back wound. He couldn’t help but exclaim, "Oh my, this wound is pretty serious."

The knife wound could easily have split her in half if it was even slightly deeper.

Zhou Gu said from the side, "She took the blow for me, blocked the blade."

Doctor Zhang nodded his head without uttering a word. It was a great blessing for a prince to have his princess willing to block a blade for him. Observing Zhou Gu’s pale face, he suggested, "Young Master Zhou, maybe you should step out for a while? Wait outside for your turn, your wounds need to be tended to immediately."

"There’s no rush." Zhou Gu shook his head, standing firm, "I’ll stay right here with her. She is my fiancée, you just concentrate on treating her, don’t worry about me."

Doctor Zhang had no choice but to accept. He quickly stitched and treated Su Rong’s wound.

Lan Zhi and Bi Qing assisted Doctor Zhang. The two of them were very efficient, and Doctor Zhang, being excellent in medical skills, managed to clean, stitch, apply medicine, and bandage Su Rong’s injuries swiftly.

Su Rong remained unconscious and didn’t wake up.

Having washed his hands, Doctor Zhang turned to Zhou Gu, "Young Master Zhou, it’s your turn."

Zhou Gu nodded, "I’ll have my wounds dressed here."

He was insistent on staying by Su Rong’s side and refused to leave.

"This..." Doctor Zhang glanced at the unconscious Su Rong on the bed.

Lan Zhi and Bi Qing exchanged a glance, swiftly rearranged Su Rong in bed, leaving some space for Zhou Gu. They knew very well that after Young Master Zhou had saved their mistress and got engaged to her, he had been staying with their mistress day in and day out.

After they cleared some space on the bed, Zhou Gu immediately laid down.

Seeing this, Doctor Zhang didn’t argue anymore and quickly set about dressing Zhou Gu’s wounds.

Zhou Gu had been injured in two places, but luckily both of them were minor. His most severe injury was still the one he had sustained on Wanren Mountain in Death Valley, which had yet to be healed. And now, after a fierce battle, injury was added on top of injury. It was amazing how he had stayed conscious without passing out so far.

Lying on the bed, Zhou Gu glanced at the unconscious Su Rong, "She’ll be alright, won’t she?"

"She’ll be fine. Rest assured, my medical skills are certainly capable enough to ensure the Princess’s life is not in danger," Doctor Zhang reassured him.

Indeed, while Su Rong’s injuries were severe, in Doctor Zhang’s opinion, there was still a very good chance of her survival, it was just that these injuries would be a bit difficult to recover from.

Zhou Gu felt relieved, "That’s good."

"I shall prepare a prescription for the both of you to drink later," Doctor Zhang said.

Zhou Gu grunted in agreement, "Once you’ve prepared the prescription, ask them to cook the medicine in a large pot. After all, everyone has to have some."

Everyone was seriously injured.

Remembering this, Doctor Zhang thought it makes sense. Today, everyone was injured, either by swords or blades, and their injuries were more or less the same. So, one generic prescription might indeed suffice. He nodded, "Okay."

Having finished dressing Zhou Gu’s wounds, Doctor Zhang, along with Lan Zhi and Bi Qing, stepped out of the room.

Outside the room, Shen Yi, with a pale face, asked the leaving Doctor Zhang, "How is my sister?"

"Don’t worry, while her injury is grave, but with me treating her, her life isn’t in danger," Doctor Zhang assured.

Upon hearing this, Shen Yi let out a sigh of relief, and then the world went black, as she slumped to the ground.

Quick as a flash, Lan Zhi caught Shen Yi.

Doctor Zhang immediately took Shen Yi’s pulse. Afterward, he urged Lan Zhi, "Hurry, take her back to her room. I’ll quickly write out a prescription for her to secure her pregnancy. Give it to her as soon as possible. Her body doesn’t have any serious injuries, but her pregnancy is not very stable. We must make sure she doesn’t miscarry."

Lan Zhi quickly nodded and helped Shen Yi to a nearby room.

Doctor Zhang swiftly wrote out a prescription, ordered someone to prepare the medicine for Shen Yi first, then skillfully dressed her wounds.

After settling Shen Yi, Doctor Zhang, along with Lan Zhi and Bi Qing, treated and dressed the wounds of others one by one, from Zhang Yun to Ye Guixue, Fen Ling, Jiang Zhu, Yin Yue, Ziye, and Lan Ying, among others.

Ziye appeared quite dejected. He was the most heavily wounded among everyone. Initially, he and Lan Ying were following closely behind Zhou Gu and Zhang Yun, but they were separated when Zhou Gu and Zhang Yun went to confront Luo Yan. Since then, he was entangled in fighting and couldn’t get close to Zhou Gu.

Fen Ling, sitting next to Ziye, noticed his dejected demeanor. He nudged his shoulder, "We managed to survive and return, that’s an achievement in itself. Given the circumstances on the battlefield today, I almost thought that we were all done for. Cheer up, don’t be so downcast. We should feel fortunate to have survived."

Ziye spoke with a pale face, "If I had been able to protect the Young Master, the Princess wouldn’t have needed to sacrifice herself for him."

Fen Ling snorted, "So that’s what’s bugging you. It’s only right that my sister would protect her husband. After all, who could abandon their own spouse? By your logic, I didn’t manage to block the blow for my sister either, doesn’t that make me negligent too?"

He reassured Ziye, "Given the situation back then, you can’t be blamed. Besides, you were also seriously injured. If anyone’s to blame, it’s that crazy woman. She’s too unpredictable. Let’s focus on healing for now, kill her, and win back our honor on the battlefield next time."

Ziye nodded, "Mmm."

Unaware of Luo Yan’s identity as of yet, he asked, "Who is that woman?

Master Xie said that their group is part of the Poison Doctor Sect. Has the Dawei Crown Prince enlisted the aid of the Jianghu sect?"

Fen Ling replied, "She’s the fiancée of the Dawei Crown Prince, and the leader of the Poison Doctor Sect. Her name is Luo Yan. The news of the Dawei Crown Prince’s engagement had reached Daliang at one time, but then it faded from focus. Largely because Luo Yan vanished from public view after getting engaged with the Dawei Crown Prince and everyone soon forgot about her."

Ziye pondered for a moment and then realization dawned, "I vaguely remember that at the time, our Young Master mentioned that the Crown Princess of Dawei must be a formidable person. The Daliang Crown Prince even sent people to investigate her, but the Poison Doctor Sect is very secretive, so it seems they didn’t manage to get much information on the Dawei Crown Princess."

Fen Ling nodded, "That’s her. Today we’ve seen just how formidable she is. Had it not been for Master Xie recognising her, we would never have guessed that the Dawei Crown Prince would bring his fiancée from the Poison Doctor Sect to the battlefield."

With the improved crossbow arrows, the siege cannon, and hundreds of people from the Poison Doctor Sect, these three major weapons, it was indeed fortunate that they could return alive.

Ziye was somewhat anxious, "Even though the Dawei Crown Prince was wounded, his injuries did not seem to be very serious. In at most a day, I’m afraid Dawei will launch another attack. They still have four siege cannons. If they strike again, we may not be able to resist."

"Let’s just hold out as long as we can!" Rising slowly, Fen Ling suggested, "Let’s go, we must rest. Only by recovering and gathering our strength will we have the energy to deal with Dawei again."

Ziye thought about it and agreed, slowly getting up with the support of the wall, then walked away with Fen Ling to rest.
