Chapter 823 - 803: Hide (First Update)

Qin Luan pondered for a moment, then explained a few more things to Qin Ruo.

She looked at Qin Ruo and continued, "When we were in Daliang, the Princess stayed in the Eastern Palace for a while. At that time, she was avoiding Lord Thursday. Later, I didn’t hear about any rumors of him hassling her. Surprisingly, he quietly came to Nanchu for the Princess."

She sighed lightly, "They’re like a match made in heaven. They incite jealousy."

Qin Ruo breathed a sigh of relief, "Indeed, it does stir up envy. It is best if you can accept it. Nobody expected it, but who can say it’s a bad thing that he came to Nanchu to marry the Princess?"

Qin Luan nodded, "A talented person, wherever they go, will never be buried."

"The Princess will not let his talent go unnoticed." Qin Ruo moved on, "Everyone has their own blessings, my little sister, your time will come in the future. Let’s go, it’s getting late."

Qin Luan replied with an "uh-huh" and caught up with him.

The next day, Su Rong and Zhou Gu slept in late. When they woke up, they had nothing to do for a while.

Zhou Gu suggested, "Shall we go out of the palace and take a stroll on the streets?"

Su Rong nodded, "Ok, let’s go."

The two walked out of Feng Hall. Halfway along, they ran into the Nanchu King casually strolling around. Seeing the two, the Nanchu King asked, "Where are you two off to?"

Zhou Gu replied, "We’re going out of the palace to take a stroll on the streets," then asked, "Would you like to join us, Father-in-law?"

The Nanchu King actually wanted to go, but looking at the two young souls, he thought better of it. He waved his hand and said, "I’ll pass, you guys go ahead!"

Su Rong grinned, "If you want to go, just come along. We’re together every day; it doesn’t really matter if we have a date today."

On hearing this, the Nanchu King thought it sounded right, "Ok, in that case, wait for me. I’ll change into casual clothes and join you."

Thus, a short while later, the Nanchu King changed into casual clothes. Fen Ling trailed behind him. The four of them left the Imperial Palace together.

On the way, Fen Ling, catching his breath, said to Su Rong, "Hey, sis, I am so tired. I spent the whole night storing all those things in the warehouse."

"If you’re that tired, why didn’t you rest in the palace?" Su Rong asked.

"No way, I had been busy for so long, I finally have a chance to play. How could I not go?" Fen Ling yawned, "I want to go out and have fun too."

Su Rong smiled.

Zhou Gu looked at Fen Ling and suddenly said, "I heard that the eldest granddaughter of the Minister of Rites, Mr. Zhang, likes you? She has been trying to intercept you several times?"

Fen Ling’s face stiffened.

Su Rong was suddenly interested, "The eldest granddaughter of the Minister of Rites? There were too many people yesterday, I didn’t notice her. Is she pretty?"

Fen Ling gave Zhou Gu a reproachful look, "Brother-in-law, are you trying to kick me out of the palace? Am I getting on your nerves by living in Huang Hall with Ziye and the guards?"

Zhou Gu chuckled, "Mr. Zhang, the Minister of Rites, came to me on his own. He is old, and he worked hard for my wedding with Xiaoqi. I can’t just ignore him, can I?"

Fen Ling said, "I don’t want to get married."

He was a shadow guard, what did marriage signify to him?

Su Rong said, "You could get married."

Zhou Gu nodded, "Exactly."

The Nanchu King also said, "Now that you are in court, you are an official, you can marry and have children. The legitimate granddaughter from Minister Zhang’s family, I have seen her. She is a pretty young lady."

Fen Ling turned it down, "I don’t want her."

Su Rong looked at him, "I don’t have a younger brother, so you are like my younger brother to me. Once you get married, you could have a child and they could call me aunt."

Fen Ling scratched his head, "Sister, I think I would prefer to stay a shadow guard."

"You, being a shadow guard? You’re more of an open guard." Zhou Gu hadn’t seen him in Jiangning County, but in the Capital City, he had always been by Su Rong’s side. He didn’t look like a shadow guard at all.

Fen Ling sighed, "Brother-in-law, I was good to you, wasn’t I? Don’t trash talk me."

Zhou Gu said no more. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

Su Rong laughed and asked, "What’s the name of the little girl from Mr. Zhang’s family? She has quite a taste."

The Nanchu King knew, "She is called Xiyun."

Su Rong nodded and said to Fen Ling, "There’s no rush. If you don’t want to settle down now, let your brother-in-law help you reply to her. After all, you’re still young. There will be girls you like and want to settle down with in the future."

Fen Ling reluctantly agreed, "Alright then!"

The carriage arrived at the Main Street. The four got out and strolled around.

As they passed a makeup store, two young girls walked out arm in arm, chatting and laughing. The one in a pink dress looked up and immediately called out, "Master Feng."

Fen Ling heard this voice, was just talking to the Nanchu King and then suddenly disappeared in the blink of an eye.

The girl in the pink dress stamped her foot, "He got away again."

Su Rong heard the commotion and turned back with Zhou Gu to look. She was a pretty young girl. She asked, "Is that Zhang Xiyun?"

Zhou Gu nodded, "It should be."

The Nanchu King chuckled, "Yes, it’s that little girl."

At this moment, Zhang Xiyun also noticed the Nanchu King and the others. Her eyes widened, and she froze for a moment. Her face flushed deeply, then turned pale, and she seemed somewhat flustered.

It was the blue-clad girl beside her who pulled her over and curtsied, paying respect to the three of them, "Your Majesty, Princess, Prince Consort."

The Nanchu King waved his hand, "We are in the streets now, no need for formalities."

The two girls stood up straight.

The Nanchu King asked, "Little girl, do you love that boy, Fen Ling?"

Zhang Xiyun lowered her head and muttered a soft "uh-huh." It was nothing like the loud voice she had used on the street just now.

"That boy is still clueless. You can keep pursuing him for now. If you can’t catch up with him, find someone else. Don’t be too stubborn," the Nanchu King advised with a laugh, then waved his hand, "Go, you go play by yourself!"

As the three walked away, Zhang Xiyun made a sad face.

She puckered her lips as if about to cry and asked the blue-clad girl next to her, "Sister Sun, I’m finished, I messed up."

The blue-clad girl was the granddaughter of the Minister of the Revenue, Sun Chunwang. Her name was Sun Keyi. She consoled, "The King didn’t blame you. It’s fine."

"The King is easy to talk to, but I bumped into the Princess." Zhang Xiyun sounded sobful, "The Princess didn’t say a word. Master Feng always calls her sister. I’m doomed."

"According to my grandfather, the Princess is very straightforward. If she felt you were disrespectful, she would have lost her temper right then. Now that she didn’t punish you, maybe this indicates the Princess didn’t blame you." Sun Keyi pulled her along, "Let’s go, if you’re still worried, you should go home and talk to Grandfather Zhang. Listen to what he says, whether you need to send a letter to the Princess and apologize."

Zhang Xiyun nodded and hurried home. Now that she had gotten in trouble outside, she naturally needed her grandfather’s help to fix it.
