Chapter 32 You Don’t Consider Us a Family at All
Without saying anything, Huo Jingchuan grabbed Jiang Cha by the back of her neck and lifted her up. He then pulled out her apron with his other hand and let go, letting Jiang Cha fall back onto the sofa.
In this way, the ginger tea woke me up.
He sneered as he tied his apron.
"I say, you're getting in the way by sitting here!"
Ginger tea: “…”
It's another day when I want to poison and silence Huo Jingchuan!
Jiang Cha felt exhausted as if her body was drained, and she turned around and went back to her room.
"I won't eat dinner. I have no appetite. I'm going to take a nap. Don't call me!"
After saying that, Jiang Cha locked the door with a bang, buried himself in the bed, and fell asleep in a second.
Huo Jingye came out after washing the mulberries, and Huo Jingchuan was the only one left in the living room.
"Where's the Chacha man?"
Not only was Huo Jingye full of questions, but even Huo Jingchuan felt puzzled.
"Go back to your room and sleep!"
"She hasn't had dinner yet!"
Huo Jingye grumbled, "You're already skinny, and you don't eat. How can this be okay?"
Huo Jingchuan's head was buzzing with pain from Huo Jingye's nagging.
He simply went to the kitchen and transferred all the anger he had been holding back for the day onto the kitchen knife. Bang, bang, bang, in no time, he had chopped up a whole chicken.
Huo Jingchuan felt particularly uncomfortable with the fact that there was one person missing at dinner.
Originally, Jiang Cha sat between Huo Jingchuan and Huo Jingye during meals every day. The two brothers took turns putting food into Jiang Cha's bowl with their chopsticks, fearing that she would not have enough to eat or eat well.
Today, there was an empty seat between them. One of them habitually looked to the left, and the other habitually looked to the right. For several times in a row, they saw a face that disgusted them.
Huo Jingchuan ate a bowl of rice. After finishing, he put the dishes into the kitchen, said hello to Ye Surong and left.
Huo Tingkun worked overtime in the army today and did not come back for dinner.
Huo Jingchuan left the family compound and returned to the army.
At this time, most of the soldiers had finished their meals in the cafeteria and were returning to the dormitory one after another.
Huo Jingchuan waited in the dormitory in advance. When most of the people in the dormitory came back, they stood in line in front of him like mice seeing a cat, and were about to salute or goose-step. Only then did he slowly get up from his chair.
"Last time, who said he knew Chi Jun?"
There are eight people in a dormitory, and each of them has a lot of questions in their head.
So, the deputy commander came to their dormitory at this time just to ask about Chi Jun's background?
"Report to the deputy commander, it's me."
Wang Lin stepped out of the line, standing straight.
"Come out with me, and let the others do what they need to do."
Huo Jingchuan took Wang Lin to the playground for morning exercises.
There aren't many people here at this hour.
"Tell me everything you know about Chi Jun, no matter how big or small."
"yes!"
Wang Lin obeyed the order subconsciously, but the next second, he realized something was wrong.
"Deputy Director, Chi Jun is from the art troupe. Why are you asking about his background?"
Suddenly, he seemed to have thought of something and suddenly realized.
He recently heard that Chi Jun seemed to be pursuing the most beautiful girl in the art troupe, so the deputy director was jealous and came to him specifically to investigate the background of his rival?
Wang Lin seemed to have known some important secret all of a sudden. When he faced Huo Jingchuan's gloomy face, he felt a little scared.
The deputy commander won’t silence him, right?
Huo Jingchuan glanced at him, and Wang Lin took a step back. "I won't ask anymore. I won't ask anything!"
The more you know, the faster you die.
Wang Lin poured out all the secrets of Chi Jun like pouring beans out of a bamboo tube.
His father was the director of the administrative department of the Chuncheng Customs Anti-Smuggling Bureau, his mother was the chief physician of the Chuncheng First People's Hospital, and his two older sisters, one married the son of the director of the Revolutionary Committee, and the other married the son of the director of the Third Steel Plant.
Such a tough family gave birth to a son who just happened to like dancing.
With such a powerful family to support him, Chi Jun has developed a fearless character since he was a child.
According to Wang Lin, he and Chi Jun are from the same hometown. Chi Jun's parents love him very much. As long as Chi Jun is happy, even if he wants the stars in the sky, his parents will find ways to get them for him.
Therefore, Chi Jun has been a bully in the village since he was a child. No one dares to mess with him, and naturally, no children dare to play with him.
When Wang Lin was young, he was bullied badly by Chi Jun. Even after he grew up, when he knew that he was so close to Chi Jun, he would subconsciously inquire about Chi Jun's news, subconsciously keep a distance from him, and try not to provoke Chi Jun.
He also heard that Chi Jun had dated two girls before, but for some reason, one of them broke her leg and became disabled for life, and the other fell into the lake and drowned. Neither of them had a good ending.
With every word Wang Lin spoke, Huo Jingchuan's heart sank a little.
He still couldn't figure out what Jiang Cha meant by asking about Chi Jun's identity. What if Jiang Cha really fell in love with him...
"Deputy Captain, I think if I were a girl and had to choose between you and Chi Jun, I would definitely choose you."
Huo Jingchuan's heart suddenly pounded. "What nonsense are you talking about?"
What is an object and what is not an object?
He is simply caring about his sister as a brother...that's all!
Huo Jingchuan was already annoyed, and his expression became even uglier when he heard Wang Lin saying such nonsense.
"You are not allowed to tell anyone about our conversation today, do you understand?"
"Yes, I promise not to tell anyone a word."
…
Jiang Cha felt like he had slept forever.
She woke up because of hunger at eleven o'clock in the middle of the night.
Jiang Cha turned on the light in the room and sat on the bed in a daze for a while before climbing down from the bed and habitually groping in the cabinet for food.
When she was in the Ye family, Wang Guifang kept a close eye on her, and she rarely had a chance to eat a full meal.
Therefore, she would habitually hide a lot of food in the cabinet in her room, so that if she woke up hungry in the middle of the night, she could always find some food to fill her stomach.
Jiang Cha closed her eyes and fumbled around in the cabinet for a long time before she realized that she was not at the Ye family's house, but in the staff quarters.
Uncle Huo and her two brothers were very kind to her. They would give her the food first, so she didn't have to hide it anymore.
Jiang Cha finally opened his eyes completely.
Just then, someone knocked on the window of her room from outside.
Jiang Cha opened the window and saw Huo Jingchuan's face.
"You were bullied like that in the art troupe, why didn't you tell us a word?"
Originally, Huo Jingchuan thought that Jiang Cha was trying every possible way to find out everything about Chi Jun because she liked him.
But he investigated this person all night, and the more he investigated, the more he felt something was wrong.
Chi Jun is not a good person. He doesn't have a good reputation in the art troupe. The more he thinks about it, the more he feels that Jiang Cha's taste shouldn't be so bad that he would fall for such a bastard.
So, Huo Jingchuan changed his strategy and with just a quick investigation, he found out what Jiang Cha had experienced in the art troupe over the past two days.
Isolated and wronged.
No wonder she eats alone in the cafeteria every day. She even joked that it was because she was slow to warm up and had not yet found an opportunity to make friends with others.
He believed her lies so easily.
Jiang Cha has always been a little liar who is good at deceiving people.
He had seen with his own eyes before how he had deceived Jiang Cheng.
Now, he was the one being cheated, and Huo Jingchuan realized how uncomfortable he felt.
"Do you think we can't protect you, or do you not consider us as a family at all?"
Huo Jingchuan was very angry.
He had never been so nice to any girl in his life. Because he didn't know how to get along with his sister, he even asked his comrades in the army who had sisters for advice.
After returning, I studied Jiang Cha's temperament and habits and adjusted my approach bit by bit.
There is also Huo Jingye. His monthly salary is so limited that he is reluctant to eat or spend money on himself, and spends all the money on buying food for Jiang Cha.
Old Huo was also worried that Jiang Cha would not be able to adapt to life in the family compound and her new job. He would accommodate Jiang Cha's pace, postpone his wedding with Aunt Ye, and even go out of his way to personally take Jiang Cha to the art troupe to introduce herself to the family, for fear that others would bully her.
But what about ginger tea?
She never really seemed to want to fit in.
She didn't say anything when she was wronged by Bai Shuyao, and she still didn't say anything when she was bullied outside.
Huo Jingchuan stood outside the window of Jiang Cha's room for almost an hour, feeling an indescribable sense of suffocation in his heart.
Until Jiang Cha's face appeared in front of him, the stuffy feeling seemed to turn into an evil ghost that sucked his essence and drained all his strength in an instant.
Helpless and powerless.
Huo Jingchuan closed the window that Jiang Cha had opened and left without looking back.
Jiang Cha’s hands and feet were cold, “No!”
She didn't stop treating them as family, but she was afraid of causing them unnecessary trouble.
Huo Jingchuan should be very disappointed with her, right?
Jiang Cha lowered her head, tears falling one by one.
During the few days she spent in the family compound, every time she opened her eyes, she would subconsciously pinch herself to confirm whether she was dreaming.
Everyone in the Huo family was so nice to her, so nice that it always made her feel unreal.
Jiang Cha rubbed her stomach which ached from hunger, wiped away her tears, and opened the door.
There was a bench at the door of her room.
On the bench were mulberries kept cool by the well water.
Huo Jingye didn't eat any of them, nor did he give any to anyone else. He left them all for her.
The washed mulberries were placed in a clean white porcelain bowl. He was afraid that the mulberries would go bad, so he fetched well water to cool them down.
Jiang Cha's tears, which had finally stopped, began to fall again.
How did she deserve such good love?
The living room was filled with a rich fragrance.
Ye Surong was not sleeping soundly. When she heard the noise coming from Jiang Cha's side, she immediately got up and turned on the light outside.
"Cha Cha, you're up? Are you hungry? The chicken soup should be almost done. I'll scoop some up and make you a bowl of noodles. Just wait!"
Jiang Cha's tears flowed even more violently.
