Unearthing Treasures from Old Houses

After searching the living room, Lin Peng went to Song Daqiang's bedroom.

There is a wooden wardrobe in the bedroom.

He opened it and found that it contained only old clothes.

He picked out some good quality clothes and bedding, and packed them into a sack as well, since you needed cloth coupons to buy fabric back then.

He then went to several other rooms and looted everything of value and that could be sold.

He went to the kitchen and put all the intact pots, pans and dishes into the burlap sack.

Unfortunately, there weren't many valuables in any of the rooms. Since the old house had been uninhabited for a long time, Song Daqiang certainly wouldn't have left anything valuable in the rooms; they needed to find the secret room quickly.

After he finished his work, he went to the backyard to find Song Xue.

Song Xue has found the location of the secret base.

The two of them dug together and soon dug out a tunnel.

The two of them then went downstairs.

There was a storage room downstairs, but unfortunately they didn't have the key.

"What's so difficult about that?"

Lin Peng picked up the sledgehammer and hammered it a dozen times, and the door opened.

They went inside, and were dumbfounded.

The secret room was quite large, but it was completely empty; there was nothing there.

There were only a few broken boxes, and there was nothing inside them.

"This is the secret base?" Lin Peng was dumbfounded.

"That's not right."

Song Xue didn't know where things had gone wrong. This was supposed to be a secret base, so there should have been lots of treasure here.

Lin Peng frowned immediately, looking at Song Xue with some anger, "Tell me, didn't you and your mother already empty this place out of the way? After all, you know the location?"

Song Xue shook her head. "No, this is my first time here too."

"If you still won't admit it, who else could it be but you?"

Lin Peng was convinced that Song Xue and her daughter had moved out beforehand and hadn't even shared with him. He was furious and grabbed Song Xue by the neck.

"Tell me now, where is the treasure? Or I'll strangle you!"

Song Xue was being choked and couldn't breathe. She never expected her own uncle to be so vicious, so mercenary. "Uncle, I really didn't know... please let me go..."

Just then, the sound of a car engine came from outside. Song Daqiang and his driver, Lao Li, had arrived.

He got out of the car and saw that the lock on the door had been broken. He immediately thought, "Oh no, a thief has broken in."

He immediately called out to Old Li, grabbed two iron bars from the car, and ran into the house.

When Song Daqiang saw that the living room had been emptied, he was dumbfounded. Looking at the other rooms, they were all ransacked.

"Damn it! Who did this?!"

They ran to the backyard and saw a tricycle parked there, filled with several burlap sacks, bulging and full.

"Sir, it seems the thief hasn't left yet."

At this moment, Song Daqiang noticed a hole under the banyan tree.

"Help!"

It seems someone inside is calling for help.
