Chapter 5 Pre-made Dishes? (1/2)

After Xiao Yu left, Shi Yi sold two more boxed meals, bringing the total number of meals sold here to twelve.

120 points, that's pitifully little.

At this point, everyone had finished eating, and no one else was coming out of the construction site. Staying any longer would be a waste of time, so Shi Yi simply packed her things and prepared to leave.

Just as I was about to leave, the male owner of the tricycle across the street came over. I overheard them saying that his name was Uncle Zhao.

As soon as he walked up to her, he said, "Young lady, why don't you stop selling boxed lunches here tomorrow?"

“Look, we’ve been selling boxed lunches here for so long, and your sudden appearance has caused me to sell fewer today. It’s not good to deal with the remaining boxed lunches.”

"Business is tough these days. Your aunt and I have elderly parents and young children to support, and we barely make any money each day. We're counting on this place. Please, have some compassion and let's find another place, okay?"

Shi Yi was a little speechless. "No? Uncle, I only sold a few copies today."

Is it really necessary to rush up and kick people out like this?

"Uncle, I also need to earn money to eat. It's not easy to sell even a few portions. I'm just a young girl, and my whole family depends on me. I have no other choice."

Playing the victim? Anyone can do that.

Aunt Zhao, who was not far away, rushed over and scolded him.

"Alright, alright, it's not easy for a young girl to run a business, so don't send her away."

"What do you know!" Uncle Zhao turned around and yelled at her.

"If everyone were as soft-hearted as you, how would we do business? How would we make money?! You spendthrift woman."

With just one sentence, he silenced Aunt Zhao, preventing her from saying what she was about to say.

"Uncle, you don't need to do this, do you? To tell you the truth, no one has said I can't come here. Even if you kick me out, it won't do any good."

She comes and goes as she pleases; she doesn't fall for such shady tactics. Whether she comes or not depends entirely on her mood.

Who doesn't have a hard time doing business? She just bought a house, and now she doesn't have much money left.

They hadn't earned much money before, and were counting on this, yet they wanted to kick her out and take over their territory?

Being too sympathetic to others is hurting yourself. Shi Yi is not a generous or soft-hearted person. She comes and goes as she pleases. Isn't doing business all about competition?

"Hmph, let's see how many you can sell first! You'll have the nerve to stay here and keep selling if you only sell a dozen or so portions. It's such a waste of all this food. Are you going to keep selling these unsold leftovers tomorrow?"

Uncle Zhao's yellowed teeth always made him speak in a sarcastic and unsettling way.

Shi Yi started the car directly, giving him a big mouthful of exhaust fumes.

The cool little tricycle whizzed towards the city center.

As the loudspeaker blared, she couldn't help but shout out:

"Selling boxed lunches, all ten yuan!"

Shi Yi stopped at the edge of a square.

It was almost two o'clock, and everyone had probably finished eating. She couldn't find a good place to go, so she just wandered around aimlessly.

There's a big tree in the square, providing a large shady area where many elderly people sing and dance.

"Selling boxed lunches! Ten yuan a serving, plus a free bottle of water. Guaranteed to be clean, hygienic, and delicious!"

Shi Yi shouted again, she refused to believe that no one was moved.

She had already arrived in the city center, where prices were exorbitant. A few dishes would easily cost thirty or forty yuan, and a plate of scrambled eggs with tomatoes would cost at least 16 yuan in a restaurant.

She even included water with her 10 yuan purchase, which is quite a bargain.

"Hey, what did I just hear? Ten yuan for a boxed lunch?" Zhang Fengjuan was stretching and getting ready to dance when she heard this and stopped, looking around to find the source of the sound.
