Chapter 91 Surprise (2/2)

"The food is ready, wash your hands and eat."

Zhang Haoze didn't look up, and simply hummed in response.

But as soon as he lifted his foot, the fragrance in the air made him pause involuntarily.

The aroma of braised food?

He suddenly looked at the dining table, where two boxes of braised food were placed.

"Who bought this braised food?"

He pointed at the braised food, his expression a mixture of excitement and delight.

He never expected this outcome; he didn't manage to buy any braised food, but when he got home, there were two boxes of braised food on the dining table.

At that moment, he felt like crying.

"My mom bought it."

Zhang Qiqi answered, then looked up at him, smiled, and said quietly, "Brother, it seems you didn't manage to buy it."

This afternoon he was spouting nonsense in the group chat, but I didn't expect him to wane as soon as he walked in.

"Mom, why did you buy this braised food?"

It's really puzzling. Does my mom have better access to information than he does?

Zhang Lanlan came out of the kitchen door carrying the dishes, looking quite smug. She raised an eyebrow and said, "I happened to go to that school with your Aunt Jiang and Aunt Bai today, and we just happened to run into them, so I bought them."

"But I only bought two portions. I ate this much yesterday, so I'll eat less today."

Even if it's delicious, you can't eat this much every day. Buying two boxes is enough to satisfy your craving.

"Aren't you afraid of buying too much? I told you this afternoon that I was going to take a look."

"Haha, so what if we buy a lot? It's no big deal."

Actually, it was because she saw Zhang Haoze after she finished buying it.

But I was in a hurry to come back with Jiang Li and the others, so I didn't go over to say hello. I thought I'd just give him a surprise when I got back.

"What a coincidence! I just couldn't buy it, but you did, Mom."

My mood suddenly improved a lot.

"Qiqi, you have no idea how incredibly long that line was. Those people at the back knew that it would be their turn before everyone else was there, but they still wouldn't give up. I bet a lot of them didn't get to eat."

He almost joined the queue, but then thought better of it.

It's a waste of time, and if you queue for ages and still can't buy it, that's even more frustrating.

“I saw it; someone posted a video online,” Zhang Qiqi said. “Setting up a stall at school is just like that; students come out in droves as soon as they hear about it.”

How could we possibly win that?

After seeing the video, she felt that even if Zhang Haoze rushed over, it would be too late.

"Thank goodness for Mom, Mom, you're amazing!"

My mom bought it yesterday, and she did today too. I guess this is what happiness is.

Zhang Lanlan couldn't hide her joy. "Stop being so talkative and let's eat."

It was another particularly delicious dinner.

——

Upon receiving the news, Cheng Kai rushed over as fast as he could, but ultimately failed to buy the braised food.

He stood on the back street, his feelings complicated.

Today's work was quite busy, so busy that I forgot I was supposed to buy braised food these past few days. I didn't remember until 6:20.

Xiao Zhu hurriedly drove over, but there was a traffic jam on the way, and he still didn't make it in time. By the time he arrived, Boss Shi had already gone back.

The backstreet was deserted again.

How am I going to explain this when I get back?

Another night of overtime work, and they were still hoping to eat braised food, but it seems their hopes are going to be dashed.

This braised food is selling out so fast, it's only seven o'clock!

"Forget it, let's go back."

He could already imagine the murderous look in President Pei's eyes, but there was nothing he could do; if he couldn't buy it, he couldn't buy it.

I don't know if it's possible to make a reservation. If I have the chance to meet the owner tomorrow, I'll definitely have to ask.

The hot, dry evening breeze blew against his face as Cheng Kai sat in the passenger seat, feeling incredibly depressed.

Suddenly, a vibrant color appeared before my eyes. (This chapter has been finished. Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
