By 10 o'clock, the diners who had brought stools to wait in line gradually returned to their seats.
The main concern is that someone might cut in line without any sense of etiquette, and we wouldn't know if they weren't around. In that case, all our efforts would be in vain.
It's almost time for Mr. Lin to set up his stall, so I feel more at ease keeping watch.
Then passersby saw it and didn't understand.
"Standing in such a long line just to buy food? Only young people these days have nothing better to do. Back in our day, we were so busy that we could just grab a quick bite and eat whatever we wanted. We didn't waste our time like this."
A middle-aged woman with curly hair stood to the side, giving the queuing customers a disdainful look.
The problem is that she just doesn't like what she sees; her tone of voice, which uses her age to criticize others, is really annoying.
Young people aren't pushovers either.
Upon hearing this, the young woman immediately turned around, put her hands on her hips, and looked at the curly-haired woman.
"Auntie, do you know why my grandma lived to be 105 years old?"
The curly-haired woman was taken aback by the question, but she was still curious about living to 105. "Why?"
"Because she never meddles in other people's business!"
Upon hearing this, the diners who heard the commotion couldn't help but laugh.
The curly-haired woman immediately turned black with anger.
"These young girls are really sharp-tongued these days, talking to their elders like that. What did your parents teach you? You don't know how to respect the elderly and care for the young."
The curly-haired woman, enraged by the laughter, raised her voice even louder in her accusations.
They even went so far as to criticize the girl's parents.
This made the other diners frown and prepare to have a discussion.
They were standing in line properly, right on the sidewalk, not blocking anyone's way or bothering anyone else. What are you talking about?
"Auntie, are you in your seventies or eighties, or are you bedridden and unable to move? Do you need me to let you pass?"
"Who do you think you are, my elder? Don't try to claim kinship with me."
The young girl wasn't buying it at all; she rolled her eyes and started arguing back and forth with the curly-haired woman.
The other diners looked at her with admiration.
To be able to argue back and forth with an older woman like that, you really have a sharp tongue.
"What are you doing if not wasting your time? In the middle of the day, instead of doing anything else, you're wasting your time queuing up. You're the scum of society!"
"Auntie, did you eat shit? Spraying feces on the street like that?"
"What's it to you if we're queuing? I'm willing to queue, so why are you interfering more than my parents?"
"Exactly, we were doing just fine, what did we do to offend you?"
"Don't tell me you're just looking for a sense of validation because you're unhappy with your own life."
"You don't want a fight, do you?"
When the argument started, the curly-haired woman backed down first. She couldn't possibly argue with so many people by herself. Her face turned pale and then red, and she picked up her bag and left, grumbling.
Seeing the older woman flee in disarray, the diners were overjoyed, as if they had won a great victory.
"Hahaha, that's hilarious, they bully the weak and fear the strong."
"You have to be firm and give a good talking to those meddlesome old ladies."
"Absolutely, she acts like she owns the street."
"It was the same when I took the bus to work before. The morning rush hour was already annoying enough, but then there were those old men and women lining up to buy eggs, not only taking up seats but also expecting me to give them up. It was really speechless. I was all out of energy taking the bus, and once I got on, they were old people who wanted to give me their seats. I didn't give up my seat, and then those old men and women started cursing at me the whole way. It was just unbelievable."
“Good job, sister. These people just think you're easy to bully. I've encountered this before. They don't dare to confront those strong and unapproachable big brothers, so they target easy-going girls for moral blackmail, thinking that girls are more sensitive and easier to talk to.”
"It really depends on the person. I met a nice old man before. I offered him my seat, but he refused. He patted his chest loudly to show that he was strong and didn't need a seat. He then gave me two bananas, which made me laugh so hard."
While everyone was bored in line, this incident immediately sparked a flurry of complaints from one person to another.
"Those who haven't tried Mr. Lin's food stall, how can they understand the joy of queuing up for us?"
"Absolutely. I don't think it's a waste of time to spend several hours queuing up to buy braised pork rolls on my day off. It's just so delicious that you can't buy them if you come late."
"The main reason is that Mr. Lin's food is delicious and inexpensive, so everyone can afford it, which naturally attracts many customers."
"If I weren't poor, I'd want Mr. Lin to raise the price, then fewer people would buy it, hahaha."
"Shh, you can't say that. If Boss Lin hears us, and it turns out that's true, we'll be the ones who suffer the loss!"
"That makes sense!"
"I heard there's a new flavor today. Many people couldn't buy it yesterday, and Boss Lin even asked them what they wanted to eat."
Speaking of this, the early birds are quite envious.
If I had left later, I might have been able to chat with Boss Lin for a while.
People in the group who didn't manage to buy anything said that Boss Lin is very easy to talk to, gentle and considerate.
He thought Boss Lin was a cold and aloof person who didn't like to talk much when he was setting up his stall.
"Here he comes, Mr. Lin is here!"
When Lin Zhou arrived, everyone who was playing on their phones, chatting, or waiting in the shade suddenly perked up and looked around for him.
Until they saw Lin Zhou's figure, their gaze slowly followed Lin Zhou's movement.
It made Lin Zhou's appearance feel like he was the center of attention.
The restaurant was packed with customers again today.
Lin Zhou felt everyone's gazes focused on him, and the corner of his mouth twitched.
