"Is the kitchen ready yet?"
Lin Zhou was initially worried that it might take several hours to clean up a kitchen.
But now, he has a new understanding of the capabilities of Huang Zhenghao's company employees.
After changing his clothes and looking clean and refreshed, he came out and saw Huang Zhenghao still waiting in his office, so he asked him what was wrong.
"It's basically usable, but the decoration is a bit simple. Would you like to take a look and see if it's alright?"
When Huang Zhenghao looked up and saw that his new boss had changed into a pure black short-sleeved shirt, jeans, and flats, he felt that Lin Zhou was too young.
He looks no different from a college student.
The speculations about Lin Zhou's identity in his mind became increasingly elusive.
"Don't call me 'you' or 'boss,' just call me boss."
Lin Zhou had heard people call him "boss" so many times when he was setting up his stall, but this title felt more natural to him.
Upon arriving at the kitchen, Lin Zhou was already used to the equally empty space.
The employees have already cleaned and wiped down the pots, pans, and other kitchen utensils.
Upon seeing Lin Zhou arrive, everyone stopped what they were doing to greet him.
Lin Zhou nodded, and without wasting any time, he started making cold noodles, looking at the complete set of kitchen utensils.
When they saw Lin Zhou actually start kneading the dough himself, the employees finally snapped out of their shock.
It turns out the boss came to inspect the building on a tricycle because he really wanted to set up a stall selling cold noodles downstairs.
Moreover, judging from his skillful movements, everyone realized that Lin Zhou was truly a good cook.
"Boss, let me help you. I have a chef's certificate and I can help."
Seeing Lin Zhou's actions, a male employee who was doing odd jobs and mopping the floor immediately felt that he had a chance and took the initiative to volunteer.
"If you can cook, please wash and shred the cucumber, blanch the mung bean sprouts, and do the same with the kelp. Also, grind the peanuts into a fine powder, prepare plenty of minced garlic, blanch the chicken breast to remove any fishy smell, shred it, and chop the cilantro."
After receiving the recipe, Lin Zhou ordered the dishes for today's stall.
Due to time constraints, we will only prepare plain cold noodles and shredded chicken cold noodles.
For cold noodles, the quality of the noodles greatly affects the flavor.
So he decided to knead the dough himself to make noodles.
The other side dishes don't require much skill, and having someone help can save time.
"Okay, boss."
The man who did odd jobs was just a low-level employee in the company. Among his colleagues who had various skill certificates, his chef's certificate was unremarkable, and he could only do some data research assistant work.
I never expected my new boss to like cooking! This is a golden opportunity that has fallen right into my lap!
For a moment, all the employees present looked at the man, their eyes conveying an unreadable meaning.
Some people looked down on his behavior, some were jealous, and some regretted not thinking of it themselves and letting others seize the opportunity. The atmosphere was quite subtle.
Lin Zhou ignored his surroundings and focused intently on kneading a large bowl of dough.
Kneading dough is hard work.
The dough for cold noodles should be smooth with a slight firmness. This requires adding less water and baking soda to neutralize excess acidity when kneading the dough.
Kneading dough is a strenuous task that requires considerable strength. You have to knead, pound, toss, and pull repeatedly.
Finally, knead it into a smooth dough; then you're done.
Lin Zhou looked at his masterpiece with satisfaction, patted the dough, covered it with a cotton cloth, and let it rest for thirty minutes.
During this time, Lin Zhou started frying chili oil.
How can cold noodles be without chili oil? The icy texture, paired with the spicy and sour seasoning, is both appetizing and delicious. Just thinking about Lin Zhou makes my mouth water.
"Boss, I haven't had dinner yet because I've been busy all this time. Shall I prepare dinner for you?"
Huang Zhenghao glanced at the time and realized it was already nine o'clock. Thinking that his boss had been in a meeting since he arrived and hadn't eaten yet, he quickly went up to ask.
"No need, I'll just have cold noodles later. By the way, shouldn't you be off work by now?"
"There are always people on duty at the company. We just moved offices and there's a lot going on. Boss, you don't need to worry about us."
Lin Zhou heard Huang Zhenghao still addressing him respectfully as "you," so he didn't remind him.
Older people are generally more mindful of these things and are probably used to it.
Seeing that Lin Zhou didn't need much help, Huang Zhenghao led the rest of the group out of the kitchen.
In a short period of time, the employees experienced a series of events, including company transfer and relocation, and they were so busy that they wished they could be two people instead of one.
Even at nine o'clock, the top floor was still brightly lit, and no one had left work.
Taking over all the work in an entire office building in the shortest possible time is no easy task.
That huge pile of contracts and ledgers would keep the entire finance department working overtime.
Without saying a word, the group of people went back to their posts and continued working.
Everyone has obviously gotten used to this level of workload.
High wages naturally mean high effort.
During the week, Lin Zhou even went downstairs to retrieve the stainless steel bucket he used to store his food.
All the prepared ingredients were sorted and packed.
Then, after the noodles are cooked, rinse them in ice water and toss them with sesame oil to finish.
Before 10 a.m., Lin Zhou prepared all the ingredients and, with the help of his employees, drove his tricycle to the open space downstairs to start setting up his stall.
Lin Zhou finally breathed a sigh of relief after sending away the employee who wanted to help him.
This day has been quite tiring.
Quickly make a bowl of cold noodles to taste and soothe your stomach.
Take out the metal bowl for cold dishes, first throw in two handfuls of cold noodles, then add cucumber strips, mung bean sprouts, kelp strips, and chicken strips in that order, and then season.
Garlic water is a must, as is freshly fried chili oil with sesame seeds and spices—it's incredibly fragrant! Add a spoonful of crushed peanuts, and sesame paste (2:8 ratio) is also essential.
