Chapter 95 Radio Broadcast (Part 1)
This is Fino's first time participating in "The Voice of Football," and he was the only guest invited for this episode.
The host is Giovanni Noso, a man in his forties with a very distinctive voice.
After entering the live stream room, the other person opened their arms and walked over to greet Fino warmly.
"Ciao, Finney, welcome! I'm Giovanni!"
“Ciao, Giovanni, it’s a pleasure to have the opportunity to participate in your show.” Fino politely extended his right hand.
Giovanni took Fino's hand, shook it briefly, and then let go. He opened his arms to hug Fino again, pressed his cheek against Fino's, and made soft "pop pop" sounds in Fino's ears.
"Phineas, you're even younger and more handsome in real life than on TV! You're practically a creation of God!"
Ah, the Italians!
Fino was already used to it.
After exchanging greetings, the two sat down and briefly reviewed the script, focusing on the timing and key points, so that Fino would have a clear understanding of the process.
Giovanni doesn't reveal the questions he'll ask in advance, nor does he give guests time to prepare, in order to show the audience the guests' most authentic reactions.
This often leads to guests revealing their true thoughts when caught in the host's verbal traps, creating dramatic and memorable moments, which is one of the reasons why the show has remained popular for so long.
Before long, it was time for the live broadcast. Fino and Giovanni nodded to each other, put on their equipment, and started the live broadcast of the evening's program according to the director's instructions.
"Ladies and gentlemen, good evening, welcome to tonight's 'Voice of Football,' I'm your host Giovanni Noso. Our guest tonight is the rising star of football, the 2008 European Golden Boy winner, AC Milan's top striker, and a handsome man so striking that even Adonis would be jealous... Fino Cabrini! Say hello to everyone, Fino!"
"There aren't enough seats for all of us in the live stream!" Fino thought to herself.
"Good evening, listeners listening to 'The Voice of Football,' I'm Fino Cabrini. It's a pleasure to be a guest on 'The Voice of Football' and to have a chat with Giovanni. I hope that after the recording, no staff member will yell, 'Who invited Cabrini? Fire him immediately! We absolutely cannot invite such a boring person on the show again!'"
"Hahaha, I don't think anyone would criticize such a handsome young man." Giovanni laughed, then posed his first question, "Share your life with everyone, Finney, why do you think you're a boring person?"
"Every day is the same training and matches, just like all football players. It can be very boring and tedious for fans."
"No, no, no, a star's life is certainly not just about training and matches." Giovanni pointedly said, "Didn't Pippo and Ronaldo take you to nightclubs to broaden your horizons? You know, their lives are very exciting, they are the darlings of tabloids."
Fino shrugged and replied, "I don't like the atmosphere of nightclubs; the noise gives me a headache. Compared to the loud music in nightclubs, I think the cheers and shouts of the fans during matches are much more pleasant to listen to. I also want to thank the fans for their support; your love and support are the source of Milan's strength."
"Long live Milan!" Fino shouted.
"Obviously, Pippo and Ronaldo don't think that way. They're both frequent nightclubs and enjoy themselves. Pippo seems to have changed his ways this year and doesn't go to nightclubs as often, but Ronaldo, who has only been in Milan for a few months, is already addicted to Milan's nightlife. Do you think indulging in nightclubs will affect their performance on the field?"
"This guy doesn't seem friendly," Fino said, giving Giovanni a meaningful look. Giovanni smiled and shrugged.
Fino thought for only a second before finding his answer: "Athletes survive in long-term competition. Training and matches form the core of our lives, while we are also subject to the supervision and scrutiny of fans and media. Under this high-pressure environment, players are constantly on edge, and if they don't relax properly, they will eventually break down. Everyone relaxes in different ways. Pippo and Ronaldo are both established stars, so they certainly understand the balance between relaxation and indulgence. Gossip news actually exaggerates the facts to a large extent."
"Pippo is actually a very disciplined person. He's not as indulgent as the gossip news portrays him. He rarely drinks alcohol and has very strict eating habits. His attitude towards football is so passionate that he's willing to give up all material enjoyment for it. This kind of spirit earns everyone's respect. As for Ronaldinho, please, is it really appropriate for a young player to point fingers at a great Ballon d'Or winner?" Fino joked when Ronaldinho was mentioned, quickly moving on to the next point.
Starting in late October, the media extensively reported on Ronaldinho's womanizing lifestyle. Upon arriving in Milan, Ronaldinho seemed to be in his element, quickly integrating into the city's nightlife. He hit it off with Inter Milan's Brazilian star Adriano, and the two often spent time together in nightclubs until dawn.
Brazil's national team coach Dunga is furious about Ronaldinho's decline and lack of discipline, and has not called him up for the national team for a long time.
Fino felt some regret about Ronaldinho's waste of talent, but it was Ronaldinho's personal choice after all, and Fino was not in a position to comment publicly.
Giovanni immediately noticed that Fino was downplaying the main issue, and he wouldn't let Fino succeed so easily.
"Hey, Fini, don't use such strong words like 'pointing fingers,' we're just chatting, aren't we? Let's talk about Ronaldo. After his amazing debut, Ronaldo seems to have lost his magic. His performance in Milan is far worse than when he was at Barcelona. Everyone thinks he's been ruined by alcohol and women. What do you think? Tell me your honest opinion, Ronaldo won't blame you."
At this point, Giovanni joked, "Everyone knows you're very popular in the locker room. Last night, Paolo even carried you back to the locker room on his back. That's Maldini. How many people get to enjoy that kind of treatment?"
Fino couldn't help but glance at the host, and Giovanni winked at him.
Fino inwardly scoffed, "At his age, still acting cute," but calmly began to organize his thoughts: "Ronnie is a football talent so overflowing it practically oozes from him. He brought unparalleled visual enjoyment to the football world; nobody dislikes him. His attitude towards football and life is relaxed and carefree, and perhaps it is precisely this ease that allows him to consistently create miracles on the field. No one's career is smooth sailing; there will be highlights and troughs, like a wave. We cannot simply and crudely compare his performances at Milan and Barcelona."
Fino misinterpreted the concept, equating decadence with relaxation.
After a moment's thought, he began to campaign for Ronaldinho's return to the national team: "Every fan who watches Milan's games can see Ronaldo's performance on the field. He still takes the game very seriously, still puts on genius performances from time to time, and is still working hard to return to the Brazilian national team. I think fans are just as eager as I am for Ronaldo to return to the Brazilian national team and for him to once again showcase his brilliant football artistry at the South Africa World Cup."
Fino was sincere in saying these words. Although Ronaldinho lacked self-discipline and had fallen from his peak, his performance on the field this season was not bad. He could not catch up with his former dazzling self, but he was still enough to make most players look good.
"That little fox is far too cautious. It's like he's said everything, yet he's said nothing at all, and he even publicly did Ronaldinho a favor," Giovanni thought to himself.
"Ronnie and his friends relax by going to nightclubs, so what's your way of relaxing?" Giovanni posed a lighthearted question.
"It's online content, and I only cook Maldini's food," Fino answered in his mind.
"It's cooking. Italy is a country of delicious food, and my other homeland, China, is also famous for its cuisine. On my days off, I like to stay at home and research food. My teammates love the food I make, which makes me feel very accomplished. If I have the chance, I hope to let my fans taste my cooking."
Giovanni extracted important information from Fino's answer and immediately asked again: "In the eyes of the public, you are a very mysterious person. Apart from knowing that you are one-quarter Chinese, fans know almost nothing about your past. Can you talk about your childhood? The stories that happened before you joined the Milan youth team?"
“You might not believe it, but I don’t know those stories either,” Fino chuckled. “I was in a car accident when I was a child, and I lost all my memories, including my language skills. I learned both Italian and Chinese after the accident. Soon after, I joined the Milan youth team and grew up in Milanello.”
I'm sorry.
“It’s nothing. Milan is a warm family, and I’m very happy.” Fino didn’t want the atmosphere to become heavy, so he joked casually, “Actually, last autumn, the Gazzetta dello Sport reported some things about my childhood. I thought I could learn about my past through the newspaper, but they didn’t dig anything out. I was so disappointed!”
"How about we talk about your friends?" Giovanni changed the subject.
“The Milan dressing room is very united. We rely on each other like brothers, which is one of the reasons why we can always maintain our fighting spirit. I am closer to Ricci, Andrea, and Sandro. They are all very good friends and have given me a lot of help, both on and off the field.”
Giovanni astutely pointed out: "Why not Pato? You and Pato are the same age, aren't you? Is it because of competition for the position?"
“Of course not, Pato is also a very good friend. Brazilians are always very likable, aren’t they?” Fino paused here, then added, “But Richie and his friends have one advantage that Pato absolutely cannot match.”
Giovanni knew perfectly well that this little fox wouldn't reveal anything juicy, but he still played along, feigning curiosity: "Oh? What is it?"
Fino laughed and said, "It's about the love and appreciation of food. No chef doesn't appreciate a customer who admires their skills. Richie won my favor with his stomach, and of course, Sandro too."
Giovanni laughed along with him.
