Chapter 5: The date was said to be a day off, Rosalia...
Although it was a day off, Rosalia had actually been investigating yesterday's case in the hotel.
She copied the surveillance footage of Kaka's home and the road outside, and watched it over and over again, but she couldn't see anything.
The footage was smooth, with no outsiders passing through during that timeframe. However, Rosalia noticed that over the past two days, only Kaka's father, Kaka himself, and the cleaning staff had entered his home. Even the teammate who had brought him home simply stopped the car at the door, exchanged a few words, and then parted ways.
Rosalia also didn't believe the so-called "wind blowing open the window." She'd researched Kaka's background online since returning home yesterday, and after a quick glance at his career, she thought Kaka's father paid too much attention to him. Perhaps it was because of Kaka's achievements, or perhaps it was because of his past injuries. In any case, what he said must be true.
Rosalia rubbed her chin, thoughtful.
Since no outsiders had entered the house, the most suspicious people were the cleaning company. However, according to her understanding, the cleaning and cooking teams of professional players were provided by professional companies and did not provide services or recruit outsiders. They were generally shared among players or worked with players' agents.
If you don't want to ruin your reputation, you won't do something like stealing from your employer. After all, if your reputation is ruined, the entire company will be boycotted by players and clubs, which is a large part of the population.
“Ding Di——”
The cell phone on the table suddenly rang, and a message appeared on the screen. Rosalia picked up the phone and saw that it was Kaka.
Good afternoon, Rosalia. I'm getting ready to go out.
Rosalia went back and checked the time. It was already past two in the afternoon. She was so busy sorting out the case that she almost forgot about her date with Kaka.
She quickly replied, "Don't worry, there's still plenty of time. Drive safely."
Then she threw her phone aside and ran to her closet to look for clothes. She usually dressed very simply for work, whatever was convenient, and since she had just moved out of her house, there were few dresses in her closet suitable for attending a restaurant.
She picked and chose, several outfits already piled on the bed behind her, before finally settling on a simple pullover sweatshirt and jeans. She quickly applied some sunscreen and lipstick, thankful she'd washed her hair this morning. She couldn't tolerate looking sloppy on a date; it was considered rude.
It was already 2:50 when Rosalia appeared in the hotel lobby. She asked the front desk not to clean her room today before heading out. She thought she'd have to wait a while, but as soon as she left, she heard a beep.
Rosalia looked over and saw a black car parked at the place where she got off yesterday, but it was not one of the cars she was familiar with or had seen before. This one was more low-key, and it was unexpected that the person driving it was Kaka, Milan's most popular player now.
She quickly walked forward and opened the passenger door. As soon as she opened it, she saw a large bunch of blooming white roses on the seat, and a smile unconsciously appeared on her face.
Rosalia held the flowers in her arms and asked him, "Why did you come so early?"
Seeing that she liked the flowers she had chosen, Kaka was also very happy: "I wanted to see you earlier, so I came here unconsciously."
Rosalia couldn't help but raise her eyebrows when she heard this. She didn't expect Kaka's personality to be different from his appearance. She thought men would be more shy.
He added, "You look very good today."
Rosalia turned her head to look at him and found that Kaka's brown hair was fluffy but not messy, obviously well-groomed. He was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt, a casual jacket, and jeans. He looked like a college student.
The two of them somehow came to a tacit understanding. Rosalia also wore a white sweatshirt. She had been thinking that if Kaka dressed more formally, she could use it as an excuse to go shopping, which would be a good excuse to replenish her wardrobe and change into something more suitable. But now, they both chose casual and comfortable clothes.
"You look great today too," Rosalia praised generously. "Where are we going now?"
Kaka asked her as he lit a fire, "How about going to the movies?"
This was really not something Rosalia understood, just as she didn't understand football, which was loved by almost everyone in Italy, and she rarely went to the cinema.
"Are there any good movies?"
Kaka thought back to the plan he had made last night. He reviewed it before leaving the house. "What kind of movies do you like? Action thrillers include Constantine, cartoons include Barbie and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Pride and Prejudice."
"I don't know anything about this. You decide." Rosalia leaned back in her chair, fiddling with the flowers in her arms. "It seems you have a deep understanding of Italian. You don't look like you've only been here a few years."
"I called my teammates last night and asked, Filippo Inzaghi, do you know him?" Kaka was a little embarrassed. He scratched his head with one hand, and suddenly remembered that he had taken special care of it. He quickly picked at them twice to try to put them back in place.
Seeing Rosalia shake her head, he smiled even brighter. "I asked him what to prepare for a date. He originally told me to prepare red roses, but then he asked me your name and said white roses would be better. He said your name is "white rose" in Italian." As he spoke, Kaka couldn't help but turn his head to look at her again. "It's a beautiful name, it suits you very well."
Kaka was serious about what he said. He really felt that way. He wasn't a warm and outgoing person when it came to strangers, but Rosalia was so beautiful, and there was always an inexplicable attraction to her. So that night, under the influence of alcohol, Kaka couldn't help but approach her and ask her.
Yesterday, I saw her coming to investigate my case. I followed her all the time. When she left, I chased her with the keys and asked if I could take her home. I also asked for her contact information.
Rosalia looked at him, then again, and couldn't help herself. While he was looking ahead for a parking space, she ruffled his hair twice. When Kaka scratched his head just now, he only smoothed out the front part, leaving a tuft of hair sticking up at the back. But he looked so serious, so Rosalia didn't bother to remind him.
In the end, Rosalia decided to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The other shows were packed, and not only would they not have good seats, they'd be easily recognized. Kaka agreed; he didn't want a bad start to their first date, and he didn't want to leave a bad impression on Rosalia.
The movie had already begun, and the two of them slipped into the dark theater like thieves. After finally finding a seat, Rosalia had just sat down when a box of popcorn was handed to her. She looked over and saw Kaka trying to find a place to put his Coke cup. It was amazing; Rosalia had always thought they were together, and had no idea when Kaka had gone out to buy popcorn and Coke.
"Can you athletes eat this?" Rosalia leaned over and whispered in his ear.
The warm breath hit his ears, and Kaka's face instantly turned red. He also leaned over and whispered, "It's okay if sir doesn't know."
Rosalia understood. It seemed that Kaka had done this kind of thing many times.
The two watched the movie quietly, with Kaka holding the popcorn in his hand and placing it between their seats. Occasionally, when Rosalia reached out to take it, she would touch Kaka's fingers. Once or twice, it would be fine, but when she touched him again, Rosalia couldn't help but turn her head to look at him.
Kaka's face was serious, his eyes staring straight ahead, as if he was absorbed in the movie. But Rosalia could clearly see that the corners of Kaka's mouth were curling up little by little. At first, he tried to control it, but as Rosalia watched longer and longer, he seemed to give up and let the smile hang on his face, so bright that it made people want to laugh too.
Rosalia glanced at him without exposing him, and lowered her head to look for paper in her pocket. Her hands were sticky from eating popcorn and she wanted to wipe them clean.
Out of the corner of his eye, Kaka passed a pack of tissues to Rosalia. Seeing that Rosalia didn't take it, he thought she didn't need it. He put the popcorn aside and fished in his pocket for a pack of baby wipes, unsealing it and holding it towards her.
Rosalia was amazed by his thoughtfulness and consideration. She couldn't help but reach out to touch and see what else was in his pocket: "Are you Doraemon? Is this your treasure bag?"
Kaka smiled and said, "If you want, I can be."
Afraid that there would be too many people leaving the theater later, Rosalia and Kaka left before the movie ended while the lights went out.
On the way from the cinema to the parking lot, Rosalia kept circling Kaka. She curiously felt around his pockets and asked, "What's in your pockets?"
Kaka took out everything and showed it to her: tissues, baby wipes, hair ties, hairpins, chewing gum...
Rosalia exclaimed in surprise, "All of them are things I can use!"
"I want you to have a good date experience," Kaka pursed his lips, a little embarrassed, "I asked Adriana, the wife of my captain Maldini, and she recommended these to me."
"But I didn't bring you anything." Rosalia felt a rare embarrassment. She hadn't taken this date seriously at first; it was a normal thing for her. But Kaka's attention to her made her feel a little overwhelmed. It's not that no one had ever given her gifts on dates before, but those were things you could easily buy. Few people cared for her in such detail like Kaka did.
Kaka stopped, pulled Rosalia and said seriously: "Liya, your agreement to date me is the best gift you can give me. And I didn't do anything, I just want you to feel at ease."
He said, "Maybe you want to eat Chinese food? Gattuso recommended a Chinese restaurant to me. He said his wife Monica likes the teppanyaki taro there. I want to take you to try it too."
Rosalia looked at Kaka's sparkling eyes under his long eyelashes and couldn't help but smile and replied, "Okay, I want to try it with you too."
