Chapter 1
Although Zhou Liran was not an orphan in his previous life, he was almost like an orphan.
His father lost his most beloved woman because of his birth and has been glaring at him ever since. He left his hometown after throwing him to his grandparents. When he was in junior high school, his father found true love again. After having a daughter who was the apple of his eye, Zhou Liran finally had a clear understanding of his own existence.
After going to college, his grandparents, the only people in the world who were kind to him, passed away one after another, and he became an orphan in the true sense. He worked part-time while in school and became a corporate slave after graduation. The only thing that could add some color to his life was football.
He joined an amateur football team. They didn't have to train on weekdays, but would get together to play football during competitions like the Champions League final and the World Cup. He started out as a striker, then a defender, and finally a goalkeeper for more than ten years. He had no choice but to be a goalkeeper as he was old and his body couldn't keep up.
The football team playing against them was also amateur. The goalkeepers of both sides were not very effective. The main focus was on how many goals the forwards could score. Even if they occasionally saved the ball, it would not cause exclamations. Instead, people would sigh that he was "a blind cat catching a dead mouse" and clamor for him to treat them.
The team members upgraded from being office workers in their twenties to becoming fathers, and finally quit the team to fight completely for their families. When they met again on the court, he was still playing as a goalkeeper, while the other man was sitting below with his children watching him play as a goalkeeper, and told his children that if they did not study hard in the future, they would be like this uncle when they grew up, having accomplished nothing and having nothing at the age of over 40.
The aunties in the company were very active in trying to help him find a girlfriend, but Zhou Liran rejected them all because he didn't have the confidence to guarantee that he didn't inherit those bad inferior genes, nor did he have the confidence to ensure that he would not be a bad father like his father in the future.
He had no way of knowing for sure, so it was best not to start at all.
He lived a lonely life like this, and when he died, the only thing in his heart was football.
I thought this miserable life was over, but when I opened my eyes again, I found myself in England, across the ocean, and became a newborn baby.
His mother is a second-generation immigrant and his father is unknown. He now has his mother's surname and his name is still Zhou Liran. His gender is male and his date of birth is the same as in his previous life, December 25, 1990. However, this time he has an English name, Endrit.
When he was five years old, his current mother Liz told him that the reason his name was Endrit was because his father was Ultraman from the M78 Nebula. As soon as he was born, his father Ultraman turned into light and flew away, leaving him only a name that represents light.
When Zhou Liran was 11 years old, Zhou Lisi remarried and married Goss Carter, a British man with whom she had been in a relationship for three years. Zhou Lisi became Lisi Carter, and Zhou Liran became Endrette Carter.
Before the Carters' biological children were born, Zhou Liran, the fake child, felt the warmth from his father and mother for the first time. However, when he was 12 years old and his younger brother Holt Carter was born, Zhou Liran used his pocket money to buy a football, saying that he wanted to play football and become a goalkeeper in the future.
Liz disagreed, but Goss Carter was very supportive. After that, Zhou Liran was sent to the Chelsea Football Club reserve team and youth training academy at the age of 13.
Although Zhou Liran is not a very talented person, he at least has the memories of his previous life. Although that shallow experience is completely useless, compared with other real children, Zhou Liran's silence and hard work obviously brought him some good results. When he was 15 years old, he was upgraded to become the second substitute goalkeeper of Chelsea U18.
In July 2006, the original goalkeeper left the Premier League for La Liga, and Zhou Liran became the goalkeeper of Chelsea U18. His career had a great improvement. Goss Carter was very happy and took a leave to come back to help him celebrate.
The drunk couple gathered together to reminisce about the past. The 4-year-old Holt had been coaxed to sleep long ago. Zhou Liran went straight upstairs, stood in front of the dressing mirror and pressed his forehead with his hand.
Lately, for some reason, his forehead was always aching slightly, but when he went for a check-up, no problem was found, so in the end Zhou Liran stopped forcing himself and privately went to a Chinese medicine clinic, bought a bottle of safflower oil and rubbed it, treating the pain as the price of living again - to be honest, if this was really the price of living again, then the price was really too light.
The pain always existed. At first, Zhou Liran would frown and rub his forehead to relieve the pain, but later he accepted the pain with a blank expression: he had become completely accustomed to it, just like when he was seriously ill and lying in the hospital bed. In the end, he didn't even need any painkillers.
On December 2, 2006, Zhou Liran, as the goalkeeper of Chelsea U18, ended the English U18 League this season with his teammates.
Zhou Liran started the game as Arsenal U18 faced Chelsea U18 at home and won 4:1.
After the game, the whole team was criticized by head coach Ben Warren.
Zhou Liran's birthday was also overshadowed this year, and Liz once again questioned Zhou Liran's career choice.
On February 3, 2007, at the start of the new 07-08 season, Chelsea U18 lost the game again and was shut out by West Ham United U18 away from home. Zhou Liran played well in this game and saved two goals, but West Ham United still took a point from him.
On February 10, Chelsea U18 played against Arsenal U18 at home, and the two sides drew 2:2.
On February 17, Chelsea U18 defeated Millwall U18 1-0 at home.
On February 24, Charlton U18 team lost 1:2 to Chelsea U18.
Two consecutive victories brought a much brighter smile to head coach Ben Warren's face, but the smile only lasted for a few days before disappearing again: on March 3, Chelsea U18 team lost 1:3 to Southampton U18.
After the game, Ben Valencia was furious in the locker room and criticized the defenders who performed poorly in the game.
After Ben Valencia left, the Chelsea U18 defenders all looked unhappy.
"The home team's defense is also very bad. They are obviously short of players, but they still scold us? Even Mourinho doesn't have such a bad temper, right?"
"Endrit, what do you think? Our coach..." Coker Eddie stopped talking and grabbed Zhou Liran, "What's wrong with you? Is your forehead hurting again?"
Zhou Liran covered his left eye with his hand, "No, it's not."
It wasn't his forehead that hurt, it was his left eye that was burning with pain.
