The person who appeared in Li Shiguang's mind was none other than himself.
It was Old Chen!
This man can be considered one of the first football owners in China. Although he withdrew from the rotten Chinese football scene, he never gave up on youth training and overseas markets.
At least in Li Shiguang's opinion, Chen Guanhai's father had some passion for football.
Otherwise, based on Chen Guanhai's two nonchalant remarks, Old Chen wouldn't have traveled all the way to Germany to discuss investing in Leeds United with Li Shiguang.
Moreover, Lao Chen's situation is quite in line with Morse's ideas about external funding.
With China's domestic real estate market poised for takeoff, Old Chen simply doesn't have the time to manage his overseas businesses. Therefore, even if he were to acquire them, he certainly wouldn't do so outright; instead, he would buy a stake, attempting to use Liverpool as a bridgehead for talented young Chinese players to enter Europe.
Of course, if Morse and Old Chen can get along, then Li Shiguang will also gain something, more or less.
First, Liverpool received the funds, so Morse wouldn't be completely demoralized. If he wanted to sell players, he could find a good and capable buyer!
Secondly, having another competitive opponent in the league might allow Mansour to invest more heavily after acquiring Manchester City. If he finds Leeds United, he can be even more unscrupulous in his offer!
Finally, perhaps this was Li Shiguang's last remaining attachment to Chinese football.
Li Shiguang knew that Lao Chen had been investing in youth training. If he could successfully invest in Liverpool, then perhaps in the not-too-distant future, those young people in China who are passionate about football would at least have a clean environment and a place that is leading Asia in all aspects of football!
After some consideration, Li Shiguang felt that this was a path worth trying.
So I didn't hesitate any longer.
Staring intently at Morse, he asked, "David, if I could introduce you to capital from the East that won't be a full acquisition and is unlikely to interfere in the club's specific affairs, would you be willing to discuss it?"
"Capital from the East?" Morse repeated Li Shiguang's words in a low voice, but he also realized that Li Shiguang might be throwing out the last and most suitable lifeline, so he immediately replied, "If it's really as you say, let alone capital from the East, I'd even be willing to talk about capital from Argentina!"
"Okay!" Li Shiguang nodded, stood up and prepared to leave. "I'll call you in a while. I'm leaving now; the players are still waiting for me."
Upon seeing this.
Morse immediately stood up and gave Li Shiguang a hug, his tone somewhat emotional: "Thank you, Li! When you get back, have Allen contact me so I can have someone transfer the 11 million euros to you."
Li Shiguang smiled and nodded: "Okay... As for the supplementary agreement with Torres, if you reach an agreement in the end and Liverpool has new funds injected, then come and sign with me."
····
Liverpool is about 100 kilometers from Leeds, and in less than two hours, the victorious Leeds United team returned to Leeds.
Since Leeds United will be playing their home game against Sunderland in the FA Cup the day after tomorrow, the Leeds United players will not have to travel long distances. After arriving in Leeds, Li Shiguang waved his hand and announced that the team would be dismissed on the spot, with training in the morning and a half-day off in the afternoon.
Li Shiguang himself was not idle. After returning home and taking care of his personal hygiene, he spent some time with Shakira before going to his study alone and dialing Old Chen's number.
China.
The capital city.
Old Chen had just finished a meeting and was on his way back to the company headquarters. He had gotten up very early and was dozing off in the car when suddenly his phone rang.
Old Chen was very annoyed. He had finally found some time to rest, but it was interrupted by a phone call.
He reached into his pocket to reach for his phone.
But Old Chen had already decided that if the person making the call wasn't one of those leaders, he would give them a piece of his mind as soon as he answered.
However, Old Chen was stunned when he saw the name displayed on the phone screen.
It wasn't a leader, but after the call connected, the prepared three-part mantra didn't come out. Instead, Chen Guanhai heard a gentle tone he hadn't felt in a long time.
"Xiao Li, what's up with the call? It's late there, isn't it? Aren't you asleep yet?"
"Uncle Chen, hello! Are you busy? I hope I'm not bothering you?" Li Shiguang was very polite to Old Chen.
"No problem." Old Chen smiled. "I just finished a meeting and I'm in my car now."
"That's good." Seeing that Old Chen was in a relatively private environment, Li Shiguang didn't say anything more and directly explained the purpose of his call, "Uncle Chen, I'm calling you because I really have something to ask. I wanted to ask if you still have any plans to invest in football."
"Don't you know me? I can manage youth training... but the Chinese national football team... wait!" At first, Old Chen didn't react. His first reaction to hearing about investing in football was to refuse. But when he realized that the person on the other end of the phone was Li Shiguang, and not one of those idiot leaders from the Football Association, Old Chen stopped mid-sentence. "The football you're talking about... you don't mean... the English Premier League, do you!?"
Li Shiguang knew that Lao Chen had initially misunderstood, but when he realized what was happening, he couldn't help but laugh: "Uncle Chen! Of course I was talking about the English Premier League... I'm not familiar with clubs in China either."
As soon as he finished speaking...
Old Chen's breathing suddenly became heavy on the phone.
Li Shiguang knew.
I was right.
