Chapter 228
Junior nodded slowly, resting his head on Cristiano's shoulder and whispered, "Papa, I just want you to be happy too. I love you."
"I love you, too." Cristiano lowered his head and hugged Junior's head, kissing him hard.
Junior lay quietly on Cristiano's broad shoulders. His father could cover his head with one hand and hold him firmly with one arm. He was so close to his father that he could hear Cristiano's heartbeat, which made him feel very safe.
He slowly closed his eyes, like all children who were tired of crying. Unable to resist the tiredness of his body, he gradually fell into a deep sleep.
Cristiano kept holding the little guy until he was sure that he was soundly asleep. Then he slowly got up and tiptoed back upstairs holding the little guy.
Emma poked her head over at the stairs, looking inquiringly: "Sir...?"
Cristiano made a gentle hushing gesture, smiled and shook his head, then he picked up the little guy and took him to his bed.
Junior seemed to have returned to a familiar, soothing environment. He rolled sideways onto Cristiano's pillow and continued to sleep soundly without realizing it.
Cristiano leaned over and placed a kiss on Junior's forehead, whispering, "Sweet dreams, my baby. Everything will be alright."
He walked downstairs and saw Emma still looking at him with concern at the stairs. He said, "It's okay, Emma, don't worry."
Emma nodded slightly, and the serious German turned to Cristiano: "What about you, sir?"
Cristiano was a little surprised and stunned for a moment, then he smiled and said, "I'm fine too, thank you Emma."
Emma responded.
When Pique arrived, Cristiano had just sent Junior back upstairs. He strode over to open the door for Pique with some surprise: "You're here early enough."
Pique was about to laugh when he noticed Cristiano's incredibly red eyelids, exactly like the way he looked after crying so hard when they were still at Manchester United.
His eyes suddenly widened, and he pinched Cristiano's face and whispered, "Who bullied you, Ronnie?"
Cristiano quickly took Pique back home. He slapped Pique's hand away and said, "What kind of question are you asking? I'm in my own home. Who can bully me? Come in with me."
"But you obviously..." Pique wanted to say that you obviously looked like you had cried before, but he shut his mouth before he could say it - Cristiano was in his own home, no one could bully him, but he cried, and the only thing Cristiano had to do today was to make an appointment with him, so was it because of him?
Pique shut up and quietly followed Cristiano into the house.
Cristiano took him to the living room. He picked up the stuffed toys scattered on the floor and stuffed them on the sofa. He motioned for Pique to sit down. He grabbed a stuffed bear that was almost as tall as him and stuffed it into his arms. He leaned against a pillow behind him. After sitting comfortably, he raised his chin to Pique: "You said you wanted to meet and talk?"
Pique looked at Cristiano and asked in a low voice: "You really cried, right?"
Cristiano rubbed his eyes, looked over speechlessly and angrily: "Is this the main point of your visit today?"
Damn it, if Pique had come an hour later, his look would have been much less serious.
Pique pursed his lips. He was now 100% sure that Cristiano had indeed cried.
He didn't expect this to be the case. He always thought that he relied on Cristiano more in this friendship, but now it seems that Cristiano cares about him much more than he thought.
——It's like he reached out to himself from the beginning, Cristiano is always like this, he only appears when needed, and he is always good.
Cristiano felt that Pique's deep blue eyes were almost moist when he looked at him. He hugged his big teddy bear a little tighter. He really didn't have the energy to coax Gerrard after coaxing Junior.
"I just want to say, Ronnie, I understand what you said to me. I can't always play dumb with you and pretend that I'm still at Manchester United. When I was at Barcelona and you were at Real Madrid, everything was much more complicated than before," Pique said.
Cristiano paused and did not respond. He just looked at Pique. He should be happy that Pique was much more mature than this time in his previous life, because at least this would allow him to avoid the punishment of being on the bench for several months. It was an inhumane torture to waste a player who was in good form.
He lowered his eyes, but to be honest, when all this was laid out before him, he still realized that his heart was not closed and protected and open only to Kaka, and he still couldn't help feeling a little sad.
But soon, he heard Pique continue to say:
"I have to fight for my club and give everything. I have to fight against you, even though I don't want to hurt you at all." Pique said softly, "But I know you won't be angry about it, unless I don't try my best to stop you, that's what will make you angry."
Cristiano curled his lips with a fake smile and said, "You really understand me."
Pique laughed when he saw this. He said: "I don't want to hurt you at all, but if I have to do it, it must be on the court, as a defender of the opposing team, not Gerard Pique."
"And off the court, I will never hurt you, because that's me, as Gerard Pique, as your friend, no matter what happens, I will not do that." Pique said solemnly.
Cristiano fell silent upon hearing that. He had to take back his previous mood. Damn it, now he wanted to pry open Pique's head. He would rather this guy really do something, he would not really take it to heart. He knew that Gerrard needed some performance on the field, Barcelona needed this.
"You don't need to promise anything, Gerrard, it's not necessary. I will understand you and will not blame you, even if you really said or did something." Cristiano frowned and interrupted the other party's assurance, "Don't talk so early, Gerrard, you have to be responsible for yourself, I don't want to see you being pressed on the bench and unable to play because of this."
"The club I love will not do this for such a reason," Pique said. "Guardiola just doesn't like people questioning him. Isn't Mourinho the same? It's just that you can score goals and decide the game. Mourinho sees this clearly and he doesn't dare to continue doing this."
"As long as I show my value enough, Guardiola will let me play." Pique said confidently.
Cristiano frowned. He didn't dare to make the same promise as Pique.
"If I hadn't said this, you would have just let it go." Pique curled his lips and looked at Cristiano, "It shouldn't be like this, Ronnie, this is my business, and I should decide what to do."
"I still say the same thing, you said it too early, Geri." Cristiano pinched his brows in worry, and he sighed softly, "This is just the beginning, don't say something that you may not be able to do."
When Pique heard Cristiano calling him like that again, his eyes lit up, knowing that this was a sign of loosening up. He immediately said, "Look, you are always like this, as if you already know the ending. Why can't you trust me? I am very sure that I can do what I say."
"And you told me that I would be the best defender in Spain," Pique said. "Guardiola will not let the best defender in Spain always stay out unless he wants to have five goals scored in his goal."
Cristiano: “…” You just listened to how he praised you, right? There was no point in listening to anything else.
When Pique saw that Cristiano stopped talking, he raised his eyebrows proudly. His logic had no blind spots.
"Oh, wait, who's better, me or Ramos? Who's the best defender in Spain?" Pique suddenly thought of another annoying guy. He looked at Cristiano sharply, "You didn't say that to him, did you?"
"Of course not," Cristiano denied. He didn't remember it anyway.
Pique nodded. That was good. He could have a good talk about this during the national team training. Ramos would be furious.
Cristiano looked at Pique. "Okay, maybe. Try not to answer questions about me. Is that okay? Ask your agent to say no to these things."
"That makes it seem like we're breaking up," Pique said unhappily.
"At least I know we don't, isn't that enough? Or do you just want to maintain a relationship that is visible to the outside world?" Cristiano asked.
Upon hearing this, Pique immediately responded: "Okay Ronnie, I'll listen to you."
Cristiano felt like he had finally coaxed a troublesome older child, and he breathed a sigh of relief. At least this seemed to be the best outcome for the time being.
After a while, when the media asked questions about Cristiano again, Pique's agent would always stand up and say on his behalf - "Pique will not answer this question.", "Please change the question, thank you"...
If the agent wasn't there, Pique would have bypassed the question and answered something else.
Soon, within a few days, football newspapers began to publish news about the "breakdown of the relationship between Pique and Ronaldo".
Ramos shook the newspaper and frowned as he read it. He muttered, "I knew that Barcelona were all cowards, this bastard."
Benzema was concerned about Ramos' new hairstyle: "Did you get a short haircut?"
"What do you think?" Ramos asked immediately.
"I wanted to say it before, this suits you better than long hair." Marcelo immediately responded.
Benzema agreed with the Frenchman's vision and was also happy that Ramos finally came to the decision to give up his long hair, which looked a bit weird.
"Cristiano suggested this to me." Ramos smiled proudly when he heard it. He shook his short hair and felt that he looked much neater now. He couldn't wait to ask Cristiano to take a look.
Benzema paused after hearing this, frowned and glanced at Ramos: "What else did he suggest to you?"
"That's all." Ramos touched his temples and began to recall what else was worth learning from Gerrard. Could it be the beard?
"He also likes beards, but Sese thinks it makes me look old and is not suitable for me now," Ramos said.
Benzema nodded. Beard? He also likes that the beard makes his expression look unpredictable, which is good.
When Cristiano and Kaka walked into the locker room together, he saw Ramos' short golden hair suddenly appear in front of him.
Cristiano's eyes suddenly widened, and he almost thought that he had gone back to a few years later.
"Do you think Sese looks good with his short hair?" Ramos asked. He said, "Don't pay attention to Pique, that guy is a coward. He doesn't even have the courage to tell the truth."
"He's just a little stressed," Cristiano said. He looked at Ramos' short hair and couldn't help but pull it. "Short hair is a bit prickly."
Ramos: “……Ah?”
So is it better to have long hair or short hair? Also, Pique was in such a state, why did Cristiano still talk to Pique? I'm so pissed off.
Cristiano's phone began to vibrate. He ignored Ramos and took out his phone to check it out. He saw a crying emoji sent by Pique.
[Geri: Keane talked to me TAT]
[Geri: Can I tell him the truth?]
[Geri: He is still so scary TAT]
[Geri: Ronnieeeeeee]
Cristiano: “…”
