Chapter 8 Opening
Before the game started, all major media were very pessimistic about the match between Leicester City and Queens Park Rangers.
For them, Leicester City's performance in the first half of the season was appalling. Even with a new head coach, the current lineup is still the same.
For this overall lineup that is just a new look but the same substance, even if you bought a new player, who is a latecomer and has never been in any of the major youth training camps, do you think you can make the media and the fans believe that you will win?
Crazy, almost.
So today, even in the South Stand of Leicester City, these die-hard fans have come to a small number of people. Although everyone tried their best to sit away, it still couldn't cover up the problem of too few people today. On the other side, Queens Park Rangers was a complete contrast. The North Stand opposite was already full, and everyone was carrying related peripherals and cheering for them loudly.
The new owner of Leicester City is also very upset. His team is not doing well and no one is buying the surrounding products! The whole club is still losing money, and the Malaysian owner is so upset!
Don’t let the team he bought waste your time. He wants to make money from the team. Don’t lose money again!
So everyone in Leicester City is under pressure, that is the pressure after changing the head coach and some players. If you still don't perform well after so many changes, then the whole team is finished.
When you think about it this way, you can imagine how stressful it is.
And Eggsy...
He started to get nervous the day before the competition, and forced himself to go to bed at 8 pm the night before, but he couldn't fall asleep. Even when he was counting sheep, his mind could seamlessly connect to the competition and he could count sheep without making any mistakes.
Finally, at 10 o'clock in the evening, Eggsy was so frustrated that he covered his head with a pillow, wishing he could pass out. Fortunately, he now lives alone in a dormitory, otherwise Eggsy tossed and turned in bed tonight, which would probably annoy his roommate to death.
Although Eggsy finally fell asleep that night, he sat on the bed in a daze for a long time when he woke up in the morning. Finally, he heard his teammates coming out of the corridor and talking about today's game, and then he remembered that today was the day of the game!
Eggsy looked at his phone and saw that it was already 8:05, and the team had to gather downstairs at 8:30! So Eggsy almost jumped up on the spot and went directly to the bathroom to wash up. Then he jumped up and took his jersey and bag, packed his things, and waited for him to rush out of the room.
When he rushed out, he didn't even put one of his shoes on properly, the laces of the other shoe were not tied, and his clothes were buttoned wrong. He was holding a water bottle in his right hand and a golf bag in his left hand, and he just jumped down the stairs.
Ranieri looked at Eggsy so flustered and just pursed his lips. He couldn't say anything to Eggsy after all, the child was only 16 years old and grew up in an orphanage.
Ranieri just walked up to him silently, helped him straighten his clothes, and smoothed out the wrinkles on them, just as naturally as a kind old man looking at his children and grandchildren.
Then they were taken directly to the King Power Stadium by bus. Before that, Kante sat with Eggsy and talked to him about some things before the game.
"For example, you can't drink too much water or eat too much." Kant patiently explained to Eggsy.
"If you drink too much water, your stomach will shake while you run, and you may vomit later. And you can't eat too much because when your stomach is digesting, the blood in your body will be concentrated in your stomach, which will make your body tired and it is easy to get tired while running."
Eggsy stared at Kant with wide eyes and immediately remembered these experiences.
That serious look gave Morgan and Mahrez in the back row a lot of experience, even some metaphysics. But not only did Eggsy not remember these, but he began to get nervous.
This tension even continued in the locker room. Everyone in the locker room was listening to Mr. Ranieri talking about tactics on the stage. Although Eggsy listened carefully, he always felt that his mind was a mess.
This continued until Eggsy stood in the player tunnel. Mahrez and Vardy looked at Eggsy's slightly trembling hands, one after the other. They looked at each other and saw worry in each other's eyes.
Especially Vardy, he even turned around and held Eggsy's hand, patted his face gently, and whispered: "Hey, little guy, the game is about to start, don't be nervous."
This consolation didn't work at all. Instead, Eggsy became even more nervous and his mouth was shaking!
At this moment, the broadcast outside the stadium happened to cut to the player tunnel, and Vardy was seen comforting their new player. The cheers of the Leicester City audience were reduced by half.
Worst start ever, bar none.
Ranieri covered his face speechlessly, and then had to force himself to look at the court. He couldn't admit defeat before the game even started, and he couldn't get emotional about it, otherwise what would happen to the players who followed his lead?
When the host announced the players from both teams to come on the field, Eggsy felt that his legs were not his own. Mahrez and Vardy looked at him with some concern, especially when Eggsy started walking with his hands and feet together. Mahrez quickly pulled him and helped him adjust.
Fortunately, the fans didn't see this scene, but the players of the opponent Queen's Park did. They all looked at the rookie No. 17 with pity, thinking that he would definitely not be able to perform well on the field.
In fact, until the two players shook hands, Eggsy was still confused. It could be seen from his slightly dull eyes and confusion, and his hands and feet didn't know which way to move.
"This is No. 17, Leicester City's new midfielder, Eggsy, 16 years old, a young player." The host introduced Eggsy in a dry voice, and because of his nervous state just now and his current dazed state, some fans booed.
The teammates looked at Eggsy worriedly and found that his condition was not much better. Everyone was worried.
But when the whistle sounded, Eggsy suddenly woke up!
He immediately started looking for the football and found that it was the Queen's Park player wearing a red and black striped jersey who served the ball first. He immediately thought of Mr. Ranieri's previous tactical arrangements.
What did Mr. Ranieri say at the time?
"Interrupt their attack immediately. Mahrez and Vardy, you two should keep your positions in check. Okazaki Shinji should follow closely. You should all take some time to check on Eggsy."
When he said this, Mr. Ranieri looked at the whole team and tapped the tactical board with his finger: "Keep an eye on Eggsy no matter what. When he has the ball, start attacking immediately."
"Similarly, the main task of the defenders and Eggsy is to intercept the opponent's attack. Once the interception is successful, they will immediately launch a defensive counterattack."
By the time Eggsy remembered this, the players from the opposing Queen's Park team had already rushed to him, almost face to face.
Eggsy had just reacted and was still standing there stupidly, just as he was being brushed past by the opponent who had no skills at all. At this moment, his brain was like being poured with a bucket of cold water, and his body suddenly became faster than he could think, and he took a step back.
This was a step back that no one expected, because the result it brought was unexpected.
The players in the stadium couldn't help but shout loudly when they saw Eggsy standing there in a daze. Ranieri and the coaching staff had already called Eggsy's name! When they found that he was still in a daze, they were almost desperate.
When the other teammates saw Eggsy suddenly become dazed, they all rushed over to help defend.
But the opponent's player hadn't surpassed Eggsy yet, so Eggsy suddenly took a step back and his foot suddenly inserted into the opponent's steps while he was dribbling the ball. Just like an ordinary slow motion, he hooked the opponent's ball without any warning!
Just...hook over?!
Eggsy didn't know what he was thinking. The moment he got the ball, he immediately started running on the spot!
While running, he looked at his teammates around him. They seemed to have been infected by his previous daze, and now they were all staring at him in a daze.
"Attack!" Eggsy suddenly stretched out his hand, pointed at the Queen's Park goal, and shouted, "Get a goal!"
Now all the players suddenly woke up and immediately started to take their positions.
If it weren't for Eggsy's shout, the whole audience would probably still be stunned. Because from the players to the coaches, from the audience to the host, everyone was wondering how he did it? He actually stretched his legs and hooked the ball out!
Is there a magnet under your feet? This football isn't made of iron!
That was a player who was running, and he lost the ball like that? Queen's Park almost vomited blood!
Meanwhile, Leicester City felt like they had been given an extra layer of BUFF by Eggsy's roar. When they saw Eggsy's magical move, they all suddenly felt that this goal would definitely go in!
Of course, the players of Queen's Park were not pushovers, and they would definitely chase after the ball after losing it. They had seriously underestimated the dazed Eggsy before, so much so that they didn't even include him in their defensive targets.
But he only started running after the opponent after the ball was really stolen, and while running he couldn't help thinking: Damn, this guy can really run!
The players who came to chase and intercept from all directions were all shaken off by Eggsy's quick and easy moves!
The host was so stunned after seeing this that he couldn't say anything else. He just held his head and shouted "God" three times into the microphone in the studio.
"Oh! God! Oh oh oh ~ God! Oh! My God!"
Because Eggsy used a fake move, turned around twice and directly passed three defensive players. This move was so smooth and fast that it was dazzling.
And it was because of this breakthrough that, relying solely on Eggsy's strength, the Queen's Park defense lineup was immediately thrown into chaos!
Even if Eggsy didn't look back, he knew that there must be a group of Queen's Park players chasing him. He didn't want to be surrounded by them. So he just glanced around. Although he found that there was an opponent player on his side who was throwing a shovel at him, he still didn't slow down.
During this week's devilish training, Eggsy encountered many such sliding tackles. Every time, the skill coach told him: You must not be tackled down, and you must not be tackled! These two sentences were like a brand that was engraved in his mind.
So Eggsy jumped with the ball, and in the air he aimed at the position of his own player and shot the ball directly in the air!
This frightened the Queen's Park defenders, and they all jumped up to try to head the ball in. But they didn't expect the ball to be quite high, and there was no one near where it was about to fall.
"Oops, the new player Eggsy made a mistake in passing the ball!" Seeing that there was no one at the ball's landing point, the host couldn't help but say what he thought. He also couldn't help but express his disappointment: "That breakthrough just now was great, but he's still too young..."
Just when some people were feeling regretful and some were feeling relieved, Mahrez suddenly appeared at the landing point, jogging!
This really scared all the defenders! They just came to intercept the ball, but Mahrez on the right side actually missed it!
Mahrez didn't expect that as soon as he was positioning himself and running, the referee arrived, the ball fell from the sky!
It was placed at his feet, without any effort at all, and he looked at the goalkeeper from the opposite side who was rushing towards him, and without even thinking, he shot the ball without any skill!
“………………Ball! Goal!”
At this moment, all the fans and coaching staff in the stadium were stunned for several seconds before they remembered to cheer!
They couldn't believe it, it was only 1 minute and 57 seconds!
Leicester City seized the opportunity because of their new midfielder Eggsy's magical retreat, and directly scored a point with a series of smooth breakthroughs and exquisite passes!
