Back at Moyuxuan, Xie Jingyan went to the study, while Shen Wan returned to the inner room.
As Shen Wan sipped her tea, wondering how to pass the afternoon, a maidservant entered before she had even finished her cup. Standing outside the beaded curtain, she said, "Your Highness, the Prince requests your presence in the study."
Not knowing what she wanted to see her about, Shen Wan put down her teacup and stood up.
Inside the study, Xie Jingyan was reading a military treatise that Shen Jing had given him. Shen Wan stepped forward and asked, "Did you need something?"
Xie Jingyan looked at Shen Wan, "Do I have to need something before I can talk to you?"
Why would I contact her for no reason?
Shen Wan stared at Xie Jingyan.
Xie Jingyan withdrew his gaze and turned it to the military treatise. "Grind the ink for me."
Shen Wan, “…???”
Don't tell her that you called her here just to grind ink for him.
For such a small matter, there are so many maids in the courtyard, you can just call any one of them, or if all else fails, there's always Chen Feng.
As if guessing what Shen Wan was thinking, Xie Jingyan said while turning the pages of his book, "Newlyweds, it's the perfect time for you to enjoy each other's company and live in harmony. Do you really want others to doubt our marital relationship?"
Shen Wan had nothing to say.
Xie Jingyan glanced at Shen Wan and continued, "For the next month, we'll try our best to stay together."
A month?
And they still have to be inseparable?
Shen Wan was very skeptical. When did he start caring so much about what others thought? Besides, "Nobody else does it this way."
Xie Jingyan turned another page of the military treatise. "I'm different from others."
Shen Wan looked at him, wondering what made him different from others, when she heard Xie Jingyan's mellow voice come from behind her, "I have nothing to do."
Shen Wan, "..."
These words implied that she wanted to find him something to do.
Shen Wan wanted to refute, but she racked her brains and couldn't find any rebuttal. Xie Jingyan really had nothing to do and had a leg ailment. It wouldn't be right for her, the newlywed princess, not to accompany him from time to time, especially since she was the one who took the initiative to marry him. She had to stick to him all the time.
Shen Wan resignedly ground ink for him, which made Xie Jingyan even happier as he read the military book.
After grinding the ink, Shen Wan sat down on the small couch. Bored, she picked up a book from the bookshelf to pass the time. It wasn't a book she liked; it was quite boring. She yawned after only a few pages and simply lay down on the couch.
Shen Wan didn't know how long she had slept. When she woke up, she was wearing a cloak. Xie Jingyan was still sitting there reading. Shen Wan stretched and wanted to ask Xie Jingyan if she could go out, but she was afraid of disturbing him, so she could only sit there.
Shen Wan picked up the book and flipped through it a couple more times. Xie Jingyan said, "Come with me for a walk in the garden."
This was exactly what Chen Wan wanted. She slept soundly, and if she didn't walk around and tire herself out a bit, she definitely wouldn't be able to sleep at night.
Shen Wan quickly got off the small couch. When she came out of the study, she saw a magnificent sunset on the horizon, which was breathtakingly beautiful.
After strolling around the garden for a while, Xie Jingyan returned just in time for dinner. After dinner, he went to the study without asking Shen Wan to come along, so Shen Wan didn't go. She took a comfortable hot bath and then lay on the small couch reading a book.
Yinshuang and Haitang sat on a low stool embroidering purses. Xie Jingyan returned from the study, and the two maids quickly withdrew.
Shen Wan's biggest fear was sleeping in the same bed as Xie Jingyan. Fortunately, Doctor Tao had already been invited to the mansion, and the medicine would be delivered soon. His leg would recover quickly, and he could move to the study later, making the whole room hers.
Shen Wan wrapped herself up like a silkworm cocoon, and she just couldn't understand how she could have run over and cuddled up to Xie Jingyan to sleep when she was all wrapped up like that.
Not wanting to repeat the previous embarrassment, Shen Wan got out of bed, found a rope, tied one end to the bed, and the other end to her wrist.
After finishing tying her up, Chen Wan saw Xie Jingyan looking at her and said, "This way I won't roll into your arms."
Xie Jingyan looked at Shen Wan and said expressionlessly, "It's not enough that you've tied yourself up; you have to tie me up too."
Shen Wan looked at him, puzzled.
Xie Jingyan said, "I can't guarantee I won't turn over and hug you."
Shen Wan's ears turned red. "You wouldn't."
Xie Jingyan looked into Shen Wan's eyes, but Shen Wan didn't dare to meet his gaze. She only heard him chuckle, "Asleep, who would know?"
Even if Shen Wan had a few extra lives, she wouldn't dare to tie Xie Jingyan's hands.
Shen Wan lay down to sleep, leaving Xie Jingyan with only the back of her head.
Shen Wan felt that with her hands tied, everything would be safe. When she woke up and didn't see Xie Jingyan's face, she breathed a sigh of relief. However, before she could finish breathing, she found herself being hugged by Xie Jingyan from behind. She could clearly feel something pressing against her buttocks.
She moved, and a muffled groan came from behind her, then the man hugged her even tighter, as if he wanted to meld her into his body.
Shen Wan felt feverish all over, her face and ears burning hot. She dared not move and could only let the person behind her hold her. She didn't know how much time had passed, but just when she was about to give up, the person behind her finally let go of her and turned her over.
Shen Wan quickly sat up, trying to get out of bed, but forgot that her hands were still tied with rope, which pulled painfully on her wrists. Xie Jingyan opened his eyes, and Shen Wan hurriedly untied the rope. Xie Jingyan asked, "Did I hug you?"
"No!"
Shen Wan quickly got off the bed, failing to see the upturned corners of the mouth of the person sitting on the bed.
After washing up, the maid brought the food, and Shen Wan and Xie Jingyan sat down at the table to eat breakfast.
Halfway through the meal, a young maid in a turquoise dress entered and announced, "Your Highness, the carriage is ready."
Xie Jingyan looked at Shen Wan, who then said, "I'm going to the Yun family. I won't be back for lunch."
Xie Jingyan picked up some food and said, "So you're not planning to let me come with you?"
It was already a great favor that he accompanied her on her homecoming visit; how could she dare to let him accompany her to the Yun family home?
But judging from the way he spoke, it seemed he was willing to go with her?
Afraid of misunderstanding, Shen Wan looked at Xie Jingyan tentatively and asked, "Are you free?"
Xie Jingyan looked into Shen Wan's clear, bright eyes and said slowly, "The Yun family cares so much about my leg ailment. How could I not accompany you on your first visit after your wedding?"
So you went with her?
Shen Wan became happy and placed a golden thread roll into Xie Jingyan's bowl.
After breakfast, Shen Wan pushed Xie Jingyan out of the manor. When they reached the main gate of the Prince's manor, they saw the Eighth Prince Xie Jingxuan riding over. Upon seeing them, Xie Jingyan was somewhat flattered. "Sixth Brother, what important matter has you been looking for me about that you came to greet me with your sister-in-law?"
Shen Wan didn't expect the Eighth Prince to come, especially since Xie Jingyan had asked him to come. Why would he accompany her to the Yun family when he was busy with other things?
Shen Wan was about to say no, but Xie Jingyan spoke first, saying to Xie Jingxuan, "If you had come a little later, I would have accompanied your sister-in-law to the Yun family."
He knew it! Why would Sixth Brother welcome him? He'd been too optimistic. Xie Jingxuan dismounted and asked curiously, "Sixth Brother is busy with Sister-in-law, why did you call me here?"
