Chapter 80 Injury

The princess and the prince aren't really married, so it makes no sense that they would argue and still sleep in the same room, share the same bed, and eat together.

Yinshuang and Haitang's gazes darted back and forth between Shen Wan and Xie Jingyan, and the more they looked, the stranger it seemed.

Shen Wan ate breakfast with some difficulty. She wanted to say something, but she was afraid that Xie Jingyan would find her annoying, so she held back.

After breakfast, Xie Jingyan went to his study, while Shen Wan simply took two maids to the garden to admire the flowers.

As she was leaving, Xie Jingyan looked at her. Shen Wan didn't know what his gaze meant, but guessed, "Do you need me to grind the ink for you?"

Xie Jingyan remained silent, which was taken as tacit agreement.

They truly value words like gold.

No, they were stingy with their words and refused to say a single one.

Shen Wan had no choice but to follow him to the study.

Grinding the ink was quick, and it was done in no time. Shen Wan didn't dare to leave, so she casually picked up a book from the bookshelf and sat down on the small couch to read it.

This book was a good choice. Shen Wan read it with great interest, so engrossed that she even forgot where she was and laughed out loud at a funny part.

Yinshuang was afraid that Shen Wan's laughter would disturb Xie Jingyan's reading, so she looked at Xie Jingyan and saw him holding a cup of tea, but he put it down after taking a sip. "Change the tea."

Yinshuang then realized that she had been so focused on the princess that she had forgotten to change the prince's tea.

Yinshuang hurried to the desk to take the teacup away, but when she touched it, the teacup was warm, just the right temperature.

Yinshuang found it strange, but still took the teacup away.

After Yinshuang left, Xie Jingyan kept looking at Shen Wan. He had never seen such a heartless woman. She hadn't shown him any concern all morning. Instead, she was engrossed in reading a book. When did she start liking reading so much? Could a book be more interesting than him?

He finally managed to marry her, and they shared a bed every night, but he could only look at her and not touch her. Heaven knows how long he would have to endure this. To make matters worse, he had difficulty walking and couldn't even take a cold shower at night. Who could understand the torment he was going through?

Thinking this, I suddenly felt a heat in my nose.

Xie Jingyan, “…!!!”

Shen Wan was reading a book when Yin Shuang brought in tea and suddenly exclaimed, startling her, "Your Highness, something terrible has happened! The Prince has a nosebleed!"

Shen Wan turned her head and saw a certain man with his head held high, looking utterly hopeless.

Why is my nose bleeding again?

Was the impact from her collision really that serious?

If it hadn't been so late last night, Shen Wan would have already called a doctor for Xie Jingyan. She immediately said, "Yin Shuang, go and fetch Doctor Tao quickly."

Yinshuang turned and ran out, and Xie Jingyan couldn't stop her in time.

Well, he really does need to see a doctor.

However, Xie Jingyan had already stopped his nosebleed before Dr. Tao arrived.

Dr. Tao rushed over with his medicine box, put it down, and took Xie Jingyan's pulse.

She was holding it very seriously, but the way her brows were furrowed made Shen Wan wonder if Xie Jingyan had some kind of rare disease if she hadn't known he was healthy in his previous life.

While taking Xie Jingyan's pulse, Doctor Tao looked at Shen Wan and then let go of her hand. Shen Wan was about to ask Xie Jingyan why his nose kept bleeding after she bumped it when Doctor Tao spoke first, "Your Highness, how long have you been married?"

Shen Wan, “…???”

Why ask that?

Although Shen Wan found it strange, she still answered truthfully, "Nine days."

Doctor Tao frowned. "Nine days have passed, why haven't they consummated their marriage yet? Is it because they don't know how?"

Shen Wan, "..."

Xie Jingyan, "..."

Judging from the pulse, there is no problem in that area. Apart from not being able to, Doctor Tao can't think of any other reason why a married couple wouldn't consummate their marriage.

Shen Wan knew that Doctor Tao was highly skilled in medicine, but how could he know that they hadn't consummated their marriage just by taking a pulse?

If you already know, fine, but why say it out loud without any preamble? It's so embarrassing.

Shen Wan looked at Xie Jingyan and told him to go back to Doctor Tao.

Xie Jingyan was also a little embarrassed. He coughed lightly and said, "I want to wait until my leg injury is cured before..."

Shen Wan thought Xie Jingyan's excuse was excellent.

But Doctor Tao bluntly pointed out, "Now that you've married the princess, if your leg can't be cured, does that mean you'll never consummate your marriage?"

“At the prime of life, prolonged abstinence is harmful to health.”

Shen Wan, "..."

Xie Jingyan, "..."

Shen Wan's face, neck, and ears turned bright red. She forced herself to say, "His nosebleed was from when I bumped into something yesterday..."

Dr. Tao said, "Even if you broke his nose yesterday, the nosebleed should have stopped by now."

Shen Wan suddenly understood why Doctor Tao couldn't stay in the Imperial Hospital.

She wasn't arguing or questioning his medical skills; she was offering him a way out! Poor thing, she'd already offered that way out, ready for Xie Jingyan and her companion to gracefully accept it, but Dr. Tao pulled away the step she'd built herself, making their already awkward situation even more awkward.

Shen Wan wished there was a hole in the study for her to crawl into. She glared at Xie Jingyan, whose ears turned bright red. He said, "Please, Doctor Tao, prescribe some medicine for me."

Dr. Tao suspected they hadn't understood him; he'd already been quite clear. So he wrote them a prescription, simple in just two words—

To consummate the marriage.

It's written in a large font, so even someone with poor eyesight can read it clearly.

Shen Wan, "..."

Xie Jingyan, "..."

After writing the prescription, Dr. Tao picked up his medicine box and left.

Shen Wan and Xie Jingyan were left staring at each other, trying to see who was more embarrassed.

Xie Jingyan put the prescription in the drawer, picked up the book and continued reading, very attentively—

"The book is upside down."

Shen Wan reminded her.

Xie Jingyan's eye twitched. He straightened the book, glanced at Chen Wan sideways, and said, "Why aren't you leaving yet?"
