"Are we going on a honeymoon?"
I can't believe it.
Zhou's mother said, "I see you two have had a fight recently. I'll arrange a honeymoon for you so you can cultivate your relationship."
I didn't really want to go. "Mom, he's so busy, how can he have time for a honeymoon? Let's forget it."
Zhou Chenyan suddenly said, "Okay."
I glared at him.
Mother Zhou was very satisfied. "We'll leave at noon today. We can go there to see the night view in the evening. I've already booked a room for you."
Having said that, I had no reason to refuse. The thought of going out with Zhou Chenyan...
I was full of resistance.
"Ayan and Sister Yanyan, do you want to go on a trip?"
Zhou Zhizi suddenly appeared.
I don't know how long I hid in the dark and eavesdropped.
Mother Zhou's smile faded. "Well, your father is busy with company matters and won't be home for the next two days. Your brother and sister-in-law are going on their honeymoon, so you and I are the only ones left at home. Luckily, you're here with me, otherwise I'd be really bored."
I almost laughed out loud.
It can only be said that Zhou's mother knew Zhou Zhizi too well. She knew what she was going to say before she even opened her mouth and didn't give her any chance to speak.
Zhou Zhizi looked at Zhou Chenyan eagerly.
He frowned, not knowing what he was thinking, and didn't say a word.
Zhou Zhizi lowered her head in disappointment.
"Then... I hope Ah Yan and Sister Yan Yan have a happy honeymoon."
I waited for a moment, but Zhou Chenyan still didn't say anything.
The last glimmer of hope in my heart was shattered.
Without Zhou Zhizi's obstruction, the honeymoon was confirmed.
Sitting on the plane, Zhou Chenyan was next to me.
But neither of us spoke, there was absolutely no communication between us. He had a sour face and seemed unhappy.
This is normal, after all, I was never the one he wanted to go on his honeymoon with.
I looked at the blue sky and white clouds outside, but couldn't help but think of our honeymoon after marriage.
My heart was filled with sweetness and longing. Zhou Chenyan was quite nice to me at that time. He was gentle and patient, and for a while I thought he was a man without temper.
Until his honeymoon, he suddenly left.
I was left alone in the hotel, his phone was unreachable and he couldn't be found.
I almost called the police, and then I received a call from Zhou Zhizi.
She was crying on the other end of the phone.
"Ah Yan, I don't want you to come back to accompany me. I'm just a little uncomfortable with you having Sister Yanyan, so I went out to drink..."
"Do you not love me anymore now that you have Sister Yanyan?"
"Silly boy, what are you talking about?" Zhou Chenyan's voice was more gentle and serious than I had ever heard before. "She is my wife, but I can only have one wife, and you are one-of-a-kind."
I was struck by lightning.
That night became the longest night of my life.
I stayed awake all night until dawn, packed my things and boarded the plane.
Zhou Chenyan called me and asked me why I wasn't waiting for him at the hotel, with a vague sense of concern.
But my surging love for him was like a full balloon that suddenly had a hole in it.
Leaking out bit by bit.
That was our first fight.
The plane landed and we went to the hotel.
From the time we left Zhou's house to the time we entered the hotel, we walked side by side like strangers, with enough space between us for another person.
I didn't say anything.
He didn't speak either.
As a result, the hotel check-in desk clerk looked at us with a very strange look.
Zhou Chenyan was impatient, "Please hurry up."
After completing the check-in procedures, I arrived at the hotel room. The room was decorated very romantically, with roses, candlelight, and an extra-large double bed.
I stood at the door and said, "I'll go get another room."
Zhou Chenyan had already walked into the room, took off his coat and tie, and threw them on the sofa. Hearing this, he looked at me expressionlessly.
"what ever."
He didn't stop me, which made me feel relieved. So I went back to the front desk to book a room, but was told that the hotel was already fully booked as it was the peak tourist season.
Just when I was considering whether to go out and find a new hotel, my mother-in-law called me.
"You should have arrived at the hotel by now. How is the layout of the room? Are you used to it? Come and show it to me."
There is concern in his words, but this is obviously supervision.
I had to go back in disappointment.
After showing the room to Zhou's mother, I sat on the sofa and heard the sound of water coming from the bathroom, feeling a little absent-minded.
There's no way I'm going to sleep with him tonight.
This sofa looks good, it's big and soft, and I can sleep on it for a night without any problem.
I plan to go to bed right away, make do with this night, and then look for another hotel tomorrow.
But tonight is destined not to be peaceful.
Soon someone knocked on the door, and the waiter brought in exquisite meals, lit candles, poured red wine, and turned off the lights in the room. Then he turned them on again, and the originally bright lights turned into a dim and ambiguous warm yellow.
The atmosphere is already set.
Zhou Chenyan was stunned when he came out and saw this scene, then he sat down at the dining table with a relaxed expression.
I didn't move.
He urged me, "Sit down."
I froze in place.
"If you've figured out how to deal with Mom, you can turn around and leave now."
I stood there, feeling irritated, when a message popped up on my phone.
Mother-in-law: [Seize the opportunity. I hope to bring good news this time.]
Good news?
I was stunned for a moment, then I understood what Zhou's mother meant and broke out in a cold sweat.
She is so anxious to have a grandchild!
