Chapter 237: Beside Me

"Why?"

I took a deep breath and tried to keep my voice calm and gentle. "Brother, we should make our own decisions about our lives. Brother Han can't protect us forever. He will get married and have children in the future. He has his own family..."

"Doesn't Brother Han like you?"

I swallowed, "How did you know?"

"Brother Han told me that he has been pursuing you recently. He told me the last time he came to see me in the hospital. He said he would definitely win your heart, and that he would protect you well after we are together. He told me to leave you to him without worry."

I didn't expect Han Qi to say such words to my brother.

I feel a little sad inside.

"It's impossible for the two of us."

"Why?"

"Because I don't like him. I have always regarded him as a friend and a senior."

When I said this, something in my heart quietly passed away.

I think that was the seed of hope that grew out of the end of my last marriage.

Now it is destroyed in darkness again.

Mu Hang felt a little disappointed. "If Sister doesn't like it, then forget it. Although I like Brother Han very much, I can't force Sister to be with him. Even if we're just friends, no matter what decision you make, you should discuss it with Brother Han..."

"This matter concerns my lifelong affairs. There is no point in discussing it with anyone."

Mu Hang was a little worried. "I don't know what decision you're going to make, but I hope you can think more about yourself. Your happiness is the most important thing."

"I know. Don't worry. I'm already an adult. I know what I'm doing."

After saying that, he hung up the phone.

I sat on the hospital bed, feeling as if I were on an isolated island, helpless and with no sign of a way out.

Just then, someone unexpected appeared at the door.

Han Zhilin.

He came to me with a bunch of gifts, still with a gentle and kind smile on his face.

"I heard you were in trouble and wanted to come see you, but you know about my son's situation. He has been in the emergency room recently, and I really can't spare any time to pay attention. I came to see you so late, you won't be angry, right?"

Looking at his gentle face, even though I knew it might be a disguise, I still felt a pang of guilt.

"I'm sorry, it's all my fault."

"Don't say that. Han Qi was willing to do those things because he wanted to protect you. Of course, he has to bear the consequences of his choice. We don't blame anyone."

I pulled the corners of my mouth to smile, but I couldn't.

Han Zhilin smiled and said, "Anyway, you've had a hard time recently, and now you've been seriously injured. Just rest up in the hospital. You don't have to worry about my son. I'll send someone to take care of him. If he gets better, I'll let you know."

It all sounds so thoughtful, but I know very well that he said this just because he doesn't want me to go see Han Qi?

But now I have no reason to go, and I don’t intend to have a bad relationship with him anymore.

"Thank you, uncle."

Han Zhilin glanced at me and said, "It's been really hard for you lately. You've been through so much."

"It's okay, it's all over."

"So what are your plans next? Han Qi has been in a coma recently, and his company can no longer be maintained. I have temporarily closed it. As for the employees in the company, I have arranged for them to work in the group under my name. Don't worry about their whereabouts."

Everything was arranged for everyone except me. Of course, I knew why he did this, because I was the culprit who made his son unconscious until now.

"I've already thought about my future."

Mr. Han smiled faintly. "That's good. Actually, the first time I met you, I knew you were a smart and independent-minded girl. You weren't the type to cling to others or even cling to them. That's why I was particularly relieved that my son was working with you. Unfortunately, fate played a trick on you. The group you two worked so hard for never took off."

After hearing what he said, I knew that Han Qi would never come back to start a company with me.

"Maybe this is fate."

Han Zhilin chattered on and on about Han Qi's recent situation. After he finished speaking, he stood up and prepared to leave.

"Then I won't bother you. You're not in good health right now, so you should get some rest. If you have any problems with money, you can come to me."

"Thanks."

How could I possibly go looking for him? People say I'm the type of person who has my own ideas and generally won't be persistent.

If I ask him to borrow money now, or insist on meeting Han Qi, wouldn't I become the kind of person he calls a stalker?

Mr. Han is worthy of being Mr. Han. His words today have eliminated the possibility of Han Qi and I meeting again, and also told me about Han Qi's recent situation.

I know that Han Qi and I may never see each other again.

Three days passed in a flash.

Zhou Chenyan came to me to ask for the answer.

I was sitting on the bed, and he was standing by the bed, looking down at me. His eyes made me very uncomfortable because I couldn't see any anxiety or doubt in his eyes.

Only determination.

He was sure I wouldn't refuse.

"Zhou Chenyan, can I ask you again why you insist on remarrying me?"

"I didn't think about it, I just wanted to keep you by my side."

His answer was simple and crude.
