Chapter 40: Did you drug me?

Something is not right with Zhou Zhizi.

In order to prevent her from making a fool of herself in public, Zhou Chenyan made a quick decision and picked her up.

When we passed by, he said something to me coldly.

"You come with me too."

I hesitated, but still went.

It's better to talk about it face to face, rather than Zhou Zhizi accusing me of something without my knowledge.

Almost as soon as I left, a group of bodyguards rushed in.

My colleagues didn’t know what was going on and were forced to change boxes.

This is Zhou Chenyan preserving the scene.

But I just can’t understand it. The wine was newly opened and everyone was fine after drinking it. Why did something happen to Zhou Zhizi alone?

Things were particularly chaotic today.

Afterwards, Zhou Zhizi was taken to a clean private room by Zhou Chenyan.

She became very strange and kept pestering Zhou Chenyan.

Zhou Chenyan called a doctor temporarily and finally got rid of her.

He looked at me and said, "Come out with me."

We came outside the door.

A bodyguard came over and whispered something into Zhou Chenyan's ear.

I watched Zhou Chenyan's face grow colder and colder, and then his gaze slowly fell on me.

Those eyes were as sharp as a sword.

My heart skipped a beat, but I tried to remain calm. "Why, do you have a clue?"

It can't be such a coincidence that the clue points to me.

Zhou Chenyan waved his hand and the bodyguard left.

Instead, I started to feel scared.

But she still stared at him, refusing to admit defeat. "What did you find out?"

He suddenly stepped forward, held my shoulders, and threw me against the wall.

It didn’t hurt actually, but the sudden change scared me.

My breathing stopped for a moment.

"You're so cruel that you drugged her and wanted to embarrass her in public?"

"I don't understand what you're saying."

His grip on my shoulder caused a sharp pain.

He lowered his voice and spoke each word clearly, "I asked other people, and you're the only one who has come into contact with the glass of wine that Gardenia drank."

"How can you confirm this? There are so many people in the box, and why should I do this?"

Putting aside whether this will ruin Zhou Zhizi's reputation, Zhou Chenyan is right here. Am I too stupid to do this under his nose?

"I didn't do it."

He gritted his teeth and pressed, "Say it again, someone saw it!"

"They just saw me touch the glass, but no one saw me take the drugs!"

How can this be considered testimony?

"Besides me, there was one other person who touched her cup."

He inquired, "Who?"

I stared into his eyes and slowly raised the corners of my mouth, "You."

He took care of Zhou Zhizi and refused to let anyone else do it. He did not allow anyone else to touch the juice or the wine.

"If you really want to say there's suspicion, you're more suspicious than me."

The veins on his forehead jumped. "Do you know what you are talking about?"

“Seek truth from facts and make concrete analyses.”

His palm slowly moved to my neck and gradually tightened, and I began to have difficulty breathing.

I hate this natural oppression between men and women that makes it impossible to resist.

I knew he wanted me to shut up.

But I won’t.

"He drugged his sister at the celebration party, had sex with her, and then framed her for his wife. That makes perfect sense, doesn't it?"

The hand on my neck suddenly tightened, and for a moment, my breathing stopped.

But in an instant, oxygen rushed into my body.

He looked down at me as I sat slumped against the wall. "You're crazy."

I stroked her neck and grinned, "You can conclude that I was the one who drugged her based on one side of your story. Of course, I can also make a reasonable guess based on your feelings for her."

"You think I'll let you go like this?"

He pinched my jaw, his cold gaze falling on my face, and every inch of my skin seemed to be frozen.

"If anything happens to Gardenia..."

Before he finished speaking, the door of the box behind him was pushed open. "Mr. Zhou, something's not right. Come in and take a look!"

He turned and hurried into the box.

I sat on the ground for a while, slowly got up, turned around and walked out of the club.

There is no surveillance in the box, so I cannot prove my innocence, but I can find out by investigating the purchasing channels of the drugs.

It all depends on whether Zhou Chenyan wants to check.

I can't just sit there and wait for death. If he doesn't investigate, I don't have the ability to do it, but there is one person who can find out the truth.

Zhou family.

Zhou's mother hadn't gone to bed yet. When she saw me come back and was about to say hello, she was startled when she saw the bruises on my neck.

"How did this happen? Who bullied you?"

I wanted to speak, but my throat hurt when I swallowed.

Zhou's mother quickly poured me a cup of warm water and then called a doctor.

I stopped her and shook my head at her.

Zhou's mother was a smart person. "You didn't let me call anyone, because you didn't want people to know? The person who attacked you... was Ah Yan?"

I lowered my eyes in silence.

Silence spread in the air. Mother Zhou gritted her teeth, suppressing her anger. "This is getting more and more ridiculous and outrageous!"

She stood up suddenly.

"I'm going to settle the score with him!"

I looked at her silently, my face full of anger. She spoke sincerely, but had no intention of taking any action.

I took her hand and asked her to sit down.

But Zhou's mother said, "Don't stop me. I can't forgive him for doing this to you."

I shook my head, cleared my throat, and felt much better before I spoke, "We went to the celebration banquet, and Zhou Zhizi took Chinese medicine. He suspected it was me and asked me... Mom, I didn't do it."
