Chapter 11 of Ming Niang Yang
"Oh, I finally found you!" Wang Jinhua's silhouette emerged from the darkness in front of Jie Qianchou.
Wang Jinhua looked very anxious. Without waiting for Jie Qianchou to reply, she said quickly, "Zhu Shun is looking for you all over the world. From the looks of it, I'm afraid he's out to get revenge on you. He's a scoundrel, and there's no need to bother with a scoundrel. You two should find a place to hide!"
Zhu Shun was interrogated for a whole day at the police station, and later he realized that the police were not there to arrest gamblers, but to investigate a murder case that had occurred in the town. Zhu Shun was not stupid. Compared with murder, gambling with money was nothing. Zhu Shun explained in detail how he was deceived by Jie Qianchou, how he went to another village to gamble, and how he lost everything except his underpants. After an investigation, the police confirmed that Zhu Shun had indeed been playing cards all night and did not have time to commit the crime that night. The amount of money involved in Zhu Shun's case was not large, and the entire police force was busy dealing with the series of murders in the town, so he was reprimanded and released.
As soon as he emerged from the police station, Zhu Shun vented his anger on Jie Qianchou. If this charlatan hadn't deceived him, would he have been left with nothing but his underwear? Would he have been detained by the police for a whole day? Would he have been laughed at by the entire town?
The more Zhu Shun thought about it, the angrier he became. When he returned to the town, he didn't care that he was only wearing a pair of shorts. He picked up a big stick from the ground and went to seek revenge on Jie Qianchou.
"Looking for me? I was just about to look for him." Jie Qianchou sneered.
"Listen to me, don't bother with this kind of person. In the end, you'll be the one who suffers no matter whether you win or lose." Wang Jinhua advised him kindly.
Jie Qianchou nodded, he knew that Wang Jinhua was doing this for his own good.
"Sister Jinhua, thank you. I just need your help with something. Go home and call the police immediately. Tell them I've found the murderer."
"The murderer has been found. Isn't it the one killed by Gui Sha?" Wang Jinhua looked at Jie Qianchou in surprise.
Yan Ran pulled out a piece of paper from her bag with Bu Kui's phone number on it. She handed it to Wang Jinhua.
"Sister, call this guy. He's Officer Bu."
"Oh..." Wang Jinhua hesitated for a moment, but finally put the paper away.
"So where are you two going now?" Wang Jinhua was still a little worried.
"Let's find someone to catch ghosts now." Jie Qianchou's eyes were deep.
On the other side, Zhu Shun walked around, holding a large stick and shouting, "Jie Qianchou, come out." The surrounding residents had their doors tightly shut and could only watch the excitement through the windows.
The night breeze on the mountain was chilly. Zhu Shun, shirtless, shivered in the wind. He cursed a few more times, then turned and walked back to his yard.
He walked to the gate of the yard and was stunned when he saw the two doors open. Then Zhu Shun rushed into the yard and ran straight to the warehouse.
"Zhu Shun?" Gao Wang stared at Jie Qianchou.
Jie Qianchou sat in the living room of the Gao family, his face as calm as usual, without any sign of panic.
He took a sip of tea and said, "The ghost is possessing Zhu Shun."
The old man sitting next to him also took a sip of water: "I heard that it was Zhu Shun who wanted to seek revenge on you, Master. We can't wrongly accuse a good person."
Jie Qianchou pushed away the water cup in front of him: "I'm afraid someone will die in this family again tonight."
Zhu Shun looked at the opened cellar entrance, his heart raging even more. If he hadn't been locked up for a day, how could the secret here have been discovered? Fortunately, he had cleaned the place thoroughly, so there shouldn't be any clues, right?
Zhu Shun put on a coat, picked up his butcher knife, and got on his electric scooter.
"It's all because of you, you charlatan! I'm going to chop you to death!"
The electric bike rushed out the door.
"Zhu Shun is possessed by a ghost! When you see him, tie him up like a pig!"
Jie Qianchou raised his arms and shouted to the group of villagers. They looked at each other, but no one responded. They were all from the village that Old Man Gao had just gathered. They said they were there to help, but in reality, they were more like spectators. Should they be the first to take action? I'm afraid not. Yan Ran stood by, worried, wondering if Wang Jinhua had called the police.
Jie Qianchou remained calm as he glanced at everyone. "The Bone Bride is getting more and more aggressive. She's possessed by the butcher. I'm afraid she's going on a killing spree today."
Hearing him say this, several villagers began to murmur. After all, people had been dying in the town for the past few days, and who knew who would be the next to die.
Xie Qianchou turned his back to the crowd and said, "Zhu Shun has gone berserk. He not only wants to kill men, but also all your children and women. I can just walk away today. What about you?"
“Bang!”
Gao Wang slammed the shovel in his hand into the ground. He took a step forward and stood in front of the crowd.
"Damn it, I'm going to fuck his mother today!"
Gao Wang's wife had just died, and he was already fuming with anger. Plus, he and Zhu Shun still had a grudge, so this time he was the one who took the lead in trying to capture Zhu Shun. He didn't care if he was possessed or not, he was going to give him a good beating first!
With someone taking the lead, the rest would be easy. More than a dozen people, armed with weapons, followed Jie Qianchou in a mighty force, heading straight for Zhu Shun's house to kill him.
The night was dark and the wind was strong.
Xie Qianchou led the group to the foot of a hillside and stopped. A heavy electric scooter was parked on the hillside. Zhu Shun looked down at the people below and took out the butcher knife from his back.
The wind is very strong tonight. The moon appears and disappears in the clouds, and the cold light on the butcher knife flickers with it.
Looking at Zhu Shun on the high slope, Xie Qianchou showed no fear. He waved his hand forward, signaling everyone to charge, and took the lead by striding forward. However, before his hand could fall, it was grabbed by another hand, and then he was pulled back two steps. Xie Qianchou turned around and found that it was Yan Ran who grabbed him, and the villagers behind him had already taken a long way back. How could they be ready to charge?
Xie Qianchou's mouth twitched, unable to hold it in any longer. These people had been so confident just now, but now, when the time came, they ran away faster than rabbits. This was too unreliable.
Seeing this, Zhu Shun on the hillside knocked the handlebars with the back of his knife: "You're just a charlatan. Today I'm going to destroy you!"
The villagers hid further away.
Xie Qianchou turned to Yan Ran and whispered, "Let's run separately later. He's looking for me."
Yan Ran's face turned pale as he grabbed Jie Qianchou's hand and shook it violently.
Xie Qianchou pretended to be indifferent and gently patted the back of Yan Ran's hand: "Don't worry about me. But if, if I can never see you again, then I wish you good morning, good afternoon, and good night."
"You big-headed ghost, behind you is the skeleton bride!" Yan Ran pointed at the hillside with trembling fingers.
Jie Qianchou turned around awkwardly, only to see a figure in red slowly walking onto the mountain road between him and Zhu Shun.
Dark clouds cover the moon.
In the gray mountains, a bright red wedding dress came into the world with blood and weirdness.
The mountain wind is howling.
The big red veil turned mechanically left and right, as if it was considering which one to choose as its prey today.
Xie Qianchou's brows furrowed, his mouth hanging open. Wrong, completely wrong? Could it be that Zhu Shun wasn't the murderer? Then what about the bloodstains in Zhu Shun's cellar?
A sharp laugh came from under the red veil, as if mocking Jie Qianchou's self-righteousness.
Jie Qianchou was so angry that he shouted, "What a joke!"
"Today is a good day. Who of you wants to be my groom?" The skeleton bride stretched out a finger and pointed back and forth at Jie Qianchou and Zhu Shun, as if she was selecting goods.
"But," the Bone Bride continued, "what shall we give as a gift to the groom?"
"Ah!" She seemed to have thought of something, and finally pointed her finger at Zhu Shun: "Just use your head."
The flesh on Zhu Shun's face bulged as he swore at the skeletal bride lying in the middle of the mountain road: "Fuck you, you wild ghost! Did I give you any respect? I'm going to chop you up today!"
Zhu Shun held the butcher knife, stepped on the accelerator of the electric bike to the maximum, and rushed towards the Skeleton Bride like a wild beast.
The Skeleton Bride stood still, unflinching. She raised her finger and gently slashed at Zhu Shun through the air. Suddenly, Zhu Shun, hurtling down from above, seemed to collide with something. A bloody line split open on his neck, and a spray of blood sprayed out. Zhu Shun's body instantly fell backward, falling directly from the electric scooter. The heavy scooter tipped over onto its side, spinning and sliding forward for more than a meter before coming to a stop. Dust billowed across the mountain road.
The villagers hiding in the distance had already run away upon seeing this scene. Only Jie Qianchou and Yan Ran were left standing at the foot of the hillside.
Zhu Shun’s head was cut off?
Jie Qianchou's mind raced with thoughts as he suddenly rushed towards the Skeleton Bride.
The Skeleton Bride waved her hand, and a white mist rose up, enveloping her entire figure.
Yan Ran was worried that Jie Qianchou would get into trouble like Zhu Shun, so she ran over and grabbed Jie Qianchou again.
Yan Ran said, "Don't be impulsive. Let's wait until the police arrive."
Jie Qianchou shook off Yan Ran's hand like crazy and shouted at the red-clothed man in the white mist: "Stop! I have something to ask you!"
The white mist gradually dissipated, and the Skeleton Bride disappeared. In the end, no one paid any attention to Jie Qianchou.
Jie Qianchou refused to give up and ran to the middle of the hillside, hoping to find some clues. However, the forest was shrouded in thick fog, and the hillside was just a sloping dirt road surrounded by twisted and distorted trees. He could no longer find the Skeleton Bride.
Yan Ran walked closer to Zhu Shun and found that he was still alive.
Yan Ran squatted down and carefully examined Zhu Shun's wound. There was a neat incision on Zhu Shun's neck, deep and long, and blood was constantly gushing out. Zhu Shun's Adam's apple had been severed, and only the back half of his head was connected to his neck.
Zhu Shun stared at Yan Ran, his expression fierce even though he was seriously injured. Zhu Shun uttered a broken voice in his throat: "Help, help me..."
Yan Ran shook his head: "Your injury is fatal."
Zhu Shun refused to accept it until his death: "It's just a fatal injury..."
Before he could finish his words, he stopped moving.
Yan Ran stood up and looked at Jie Qianchou with some disappointment: "Zhu Shun is dead. Therefore, he is not the murderer of Zhu Li and Gao's wife. The Skeleton Bride is someone else."
Jie Qianchou stood on the side of the road without saying a word.
Yan Ran took half a step, thought for a moment, and then said, "Do you think it's possible that the Skeleton Bride is really a ghost? She suddenly appears and disappears, and she can cut off a person's head out of thin air with a wave of her hand. This is too weird."
Jie Qianchou raised his head and looked at Yan Ran: "Even if she is a ghost, I can catch her."
Xie Qianchou smiled and continued, "Don't forget, I'm a Taoist priest who specializes in catching ghosts."
Jie Qianchou said so, but he had the same question in his heart as Yan Ran.
The flickering figure in red, the strange method of beheading from a distance, and...who is that face hidden under the big red veil?
