Seeing that Zhao Youcai was burning hot all over and couldn't even wake up, Zhao Youfu asked Zhao Xingjia and Zhao Xingye to take Zhao Youcai to the hospital immediately.
When Zhao Xingjia and Zhao Xingye heard that going to the hospital would cost money.
Chen Zhenzhen was dissatisfied: "Everyone has a fever. We all just get some sleep and drink some hot water and it's over."
Zhao Xingjia nodded: "Yes, maybe Dad will feel better after some more sleep."
Zhao Xingye didn't want to rush forward: "I will listen to my second brother and his wife."
Seeing that her two grandsons ignored her son, Old Lady Wang was so angry that she kept yelling and banging the bed. She refused to listen when her family members asked her to shut up. After a long time, Aunt Li next door was so annoyed that she knocked on the door and came over:
"Old Lady Wang, you old bitch, stop making such a fuss. It's killing me."
Old Mrs. Wang was heartbroken. These two grandsons wanted to drag her son to death. Zhao Youcai had a fever and couldn't be woken up, but they still thought he would be fine after a good sleep.
Seeing that her warning was futile and Old Lady Wang continued to make a fuss, Aunt Li went into the house to talk her out of it. Just then, she heard a thud and saw Zhao Youcai rolling to the ground twitching.
Aunt Li was startled. She stepped forward to take a closer look and said anxiously:
"Xingjia, Xingye, if your father isn't taken to the hospital, he might be dead. This is a matter of life and death. Please quickly borrow a cart and take your father to the hospital."
After hearing what Aunt Li said, Zhao Xingjia and Zhao Xingye realized the seriousness of the problem and hurried to find a cart. It was snowing outside, and they finally sent Zhao Youcai to the hospital for emergency treatment after much difficulty.
Half a day later, Zhao Youcai woke up in a daze. The doctor touched his forehead and was relieved: "Luckily, you were brought to the hospital in time. If you were half an hour later, you would have been burned to death."
Zhao Youcai also remembered everything. He asked the brothers Zhao Xingjia and Zhao Xingye to buy medicine for him, but they didn't bring it back until evening. He was already confused due to fever last night.
Zhao Xingjia and Zhao Xingye came back with bowls of white porridge and smiled ingratiatingly.
They didn't expect that Zhao Youcai was so weak that he couldn't even overcome a common fever.
Zhao Youcai picked up the teacup beside the bed and threw it over:
"You two ungrateful bastards, you wish I were dead. I asked you to bring me some cold medicine yesterday at noon. Where's my medicine?"
Zhao Xingjia glanced at Zhao Xingye. Actually, they had agreed not to buy medicine, but to buy gifts for Ma Xiulan. But yesterday, this guy told his mother that he wanted to leave him and live alone with her, so he put the blame on Zhao Xingye:
"My commute to work is long, so I asked Lao Si to buy it. Who knows why he didn't buy it."
Zhao Xingye glared at him, wanting to expose him, but he was afraid that his second brother, that idiot, would reveal that they had secretly gone to see Mom. If Dad knew about it, he would definitely be angry. He gritted his teeth and said:
"There was a problem with the work I was doing, so I was working overtime in the workshop at noon."
"What about after get off work at night? Won't you buy it after get off work at night?"
Zhao Xingye gritted his teeth and said, "I was going to buy some medicine tonight, but my second brother said that if I had a fever, I'd eat something good and sleep it off, so we went and bought a pound of pork and a pound of fruit candy."
Zhao Xingjia asked him to take the blame, so he couldn't have an easy time.
Zhao Youcai was furious. "Can eating meat and candy cure a fever?" It was obvious that they were greedy, and he was using his name to satisfy their appetite.
"Then why did you send me to the hospital so late this morning? The doctor just said that if I had been half an hour later, I would have been mad with fever. I really raised you in vain, you unfilial sons."
Seeing that the uncle next door was looking over, Zhao Xingye quickly cried out for justice:
"Dad, we didn't do it on purpose. You can't just label us as unfilial. How can we live in this courtyard? Who knew your fever would be so severe?"
After saying that, he patted Zhao Xingjia's arm. Zhao Xingjia himself was not convinced:
"I've had a fever countless times since I was little, and you've never taken care of me. You always said it was a small matter and would be fine in a couple of days. You also said it was a waste of money for my mom to take me to the hospital. How come you're not happy when we're late getting you to the hospital when it's your turn? I even took you to the hospital even when it was snowing."
Zhao Xingye nodded: "That's right, Dad, you are too hypocritical."
"When we were little, having a fever wasn't a big deal. How can it be a big deal when you're an adult? We don't blame you for wasting money on a fever."
"Besides, you slept with your uncle, and he saw that you had a high fever, but he didn't even bother to send you to the hospital. You usually treat your uncle better than us two sons. Why don't you cause trouble for your uncle, but only pick on us two?"
Uncle Ge in the bed next to him thought that his child was unfilial, but after listening to what he said, he felt that the problem with his father might be bigger. He didn't care about his children when they were young and always favored their uncle. No wonder the children felt wronged.
He advised Zhao Youcai:
"You, if a son is not well educated, it is the fault of the father. If something goes wrong, think more about your own problems and don't let the two children feel disappointed."
Zhao Youcai's face was unhappy: "Why should you worry about this? Your son is being taught so well, so why should you give me orders?"
Uncle Ge has always been kind-hearted. Even if others don't appreciate it, he won't scold him. Now that Zhao Youcai scolded him like this and accused him of not being able to teach his son well, he got angry.
"Why do you say my son is not well-educated? Do you know how outstanding my son is? I saw you had no water to drink and lent you my teacup. You just threw my teacup on the ground. You have to compensate me."
Zhao Youcai didn't expect there was such a thing as a teacup?
Zhao Xingjia and Zhao Xingye nodded, it was indeed the old man who offered to lend it to them.
He asked Zhao Xingye to pick up the teacup and return it to Uncle Ge: "You just dropped the teacup, what's the big deal? You're still paying for it? Are you crazy because you're broke? You're extorting money from me."
