Chapter 1: First arrived, life is the most important thing

Longyin Dynasty, the 28th year of Emperor Yuanwu, early summer.

A remote courtyard in the western suburbs of Jianzhou, the capital.

Late at night, a few crows were heard crying in the trees.

At the second entrance, an old woman in gray was leaning out, whispering something to someone.

Soon, she closed the door again and turned back to the yard.

Just as he turned around, he glanced towards the west wing.

At this moment, a frail girl was lying quietly on the bed in the west wing.

She looked pale and was coughing and wheezing constantly, as if she was coughing out her heart and liver. It sounded horrifying.

A tear slowly fell from the corner of the girl's eyes. The injustice she had suffered two years ago was like a thorn in her heart.

A thirteen-year-old girl was labeled as "coveting her brother-in-law" by her own grandmother, and was beaten with twenty sticks, driven out of the mansion, and secluded in a separate courtyard to reflect on her mistakes.

It has been two years. She has been in this villa for two years!

She didn't understand what the point of living these short fifteen years was.

She didn't understand why her mother gave birth to her, but only stayed with her for five short years before passing away and leaving her?

She also didn't understand why her father was always indifferent to her, just like a stranger?

She sighed softly and coughed violently again.

Suddenly, with a creak, the door opened.

The old woman in gray, holding a candlestick, slowly approached the bed and asked softly, "Second Miss, why are you awake?"

"Mother Zhang, why haven't you gone to bed yet? Did I disturb you?" The girl struggled to support her head and looked at the person who came.

There is clearly a hint of dependence in her well-behaved eyes.

Mother Zhang smiled sinisterly, and reached out to help the frail girl lie down.

He silently grabbed the corner of the quilt and was about to cover her with it.

He said, "Although it is summer, the nights are still cold. I came to see the Second Young Miss."

The voice was still the same, but the tone was no longer as gentle as before, and seemed a little sarcastic?

Before the girl on the bed could react, her mouth and nose were covered tightly by the quilt in her mother's hand!

The second young lady was already bedridden, extremely thin and weak, with no strength left!

How could she be a match for a strong old woman in her forties or fifties? She had no power to fight back at all and couldn't even shout for help.

Her terrified almond-shaped eyes stared at the hideous-looking Mother Zhang in front of her with despair and confusion.

Why?

Mother Zhang, who was sent by my grandmother to serve me, has been very kind to me in the past two years!

Why did you come to kill her tonight?

Mother Zhang saw the veins bulging on the second young lady's forehead, her struggling hands slowly sliding down, and her eyes finally stopped moving.

She then slowly let go of her hand.

She reached out her hand tremblingly to feel the second young lady's breath, and found that she was indeed dead. She then breathed a sigh of relief.

He quickly wiped the eyelids of the dying lady.

It is said that if a person who died unjustly stares at her closely, she will be haunted by the evil ghost that person has turned into!

A gust of night wind blew in from the window lattice, and the candlelight swayed, making the dim room feel a little more eerie for no reason.

At this moment, a loud thunder suddenly sounded in the night sky, and a heavy rain poured down!

Mother Zhang, who was making the bed and trying to create the illusion that the second young lady had died of coughing and gasping for breath in the middle of the night, was startled by the thunder!

She glanced at the pounding rain outside the window and muttered, "Why is it raining when the weather is so good? What bad luck!"

When I turned around and prepared to continue tidying the bed, I saw that the girl lying on the bed, who had long been dead, suddenly opened her eyes!

"Ah..." Mother Zhang staggered back a few steps, her legs went limp and she fell to the ground.

Her face was filled with horror, and she opened her mouth tremblingly to explain:

"Second Miss... Second Miss, it is your presence that blocks the way for others. Don't blame me for being ruthless!

Every wrong has its perpetrator, so please don't come looking for me."

The girl on the bed seemed not to understand what the old maid said. She just stared at her without saying a word.

Isn't she dead?

A chaotic mess of memories rushed into my mind without any order.

After a moment, Si Jinxing twitched the corners of his lips.

My soul actually traveled to the body of this unfortunate lady who died in vain?

Mother Zhang, who was slumped on the ground, happened to see the second young lady who had "come back from the dead" on the bed curling her lips in a sinister smile.

Her heart shuddered. Could it be that the second young lady really turned into an evil ghost to collect debts?

The rain outside seemed to be getting heavier, thunder rumbled, and the candlelight in the room swayed in the wind.

It was really weird to see a man and a "ghost" looking at each other in the dim light!

Now that things have come to this, she has no way out. Even if this second young lady turns into an evil ghost, she has to drive her back to the underworld!

If...if this fails, that man in the mansion will definitely not spare her family.

Mrs. Zhang became furious and took out a handkerchief from her sleeve!

She suddenly rushed to the bedside and shook the handkerchief at the second lady, who was not sure whether she was a human or a ghost.

The handkerchief was stained with the drug, which she had just used to knock out the two maids who were on night watch.

She originally wanted to knock the second young lady unconscious before taking action, but when she came in, the second young lady was awake.

I also thought that she had been bedridden for a long time and it didn't take much effort, so why would I have expected her to be so difficult?

Si Jinxing came back to her senses when she smelled the hint of fruity fragrance.

As a military doctor, she could naturally identify the ingredients of the drug. She cursed herself for being careless and wanted to hold her breath quickly, but it was too late!

She struggled to call for help, but the sound she made was very weak!

The old woman stepped forward and grabbed her neck fiercely with great strength!
