Chapter 1: You didn't see anything, why are you running?
Pattaya, Thailand.
At Palm Bay Grand View Manor, a Thai-style wedding ceremony has just concluded.
Today, Huang Momo, the bridesmaid, carried a tray of flower wreaths towards the back of the house. The white wreaths had been blessed by a high-ranking monk, representing good wishes for the newlyweds' future life. She needed to take these wreaths to the bridal chamber at the back for use during the bed-making ceremony that evening.
The crimson sun was about to disappear below the treetops, but the sweltering heat didn't change much. She had been here for two days, but still wasn't used to the temperature.
There are two paths leading to the new house. One is a bare road with no shelter, and the other is a shady path surrounded by bushes, which is much cooler than the outside.
Momo chose to take the shortcut without hesitation, since the distance and time were about the same anyway, and choosing a cooler place was more comfortable.
She walked through dense banana groves, turned at a pond filled with purple water lilies, and soon saw a white round pagoda palace with distinctly Thai features in the distance.
It was at this very turn, before she had taken more than a few steps, that she suddenly stopped under the banana trees that blocked her view, looking extremely unnatural.
Just a few steps ahead of her, a tall man in a floral shirt leaned over a woman. From behind, their behavior seemed somewhat intimate; they were standing close, but not crossing any boundaries.
He probably didn't even have a chance to kiss her before she saw it.
Even though she couldn't see the man with his back to her clearly, she knew she shouldn't be there at that moment.
Bumping into someone, especially in this kind of situation, can be very awkward for both of you.
She was about to leave quietly when, by sheer coincidence, the female protagonist looked up and saw her. The woman's expression turned unpleasant when she saw that someone had ruined her plans. She frowned and glared at Momo, who was not far away.
Then the man turned around as well.
Momo quickly turned around, clutching the plate, wanting to leave this place of trouble, but before she could take a step, she heard a sound behind her.
"stop."
The man was speaking Thai, and his voice sounded extremely displeased.
That's true. When you're having a great time and someone suddenly interrupts you, how can you enjoy it?
Thinking this, Momo immediately froze on the spot, unable to move, and simply apologized to them in Thai with a sense of contentment.
“Turn around.”
Momo obediently followed instructions, lowered her head, turned around, and stared silently at her shoes.
Anyway, she couldn't look up. As long as she didn't see his face, it wouldn't count as intruding on someone's privacy. Otherwise, she wouldn't even know how she died, especially abroad, and her body might not even be preserved.
Fu Yungui lost interest, dismissed the woman, and walked towards Huang Momo with his hands in his pockets, wearing a loose yellow shirt covered with small red flowers. Only a few buttons were hastily fastened in front, revealing most of his chest muscles.
He carefully examined the woman in front of him who had disturbed his interest. She had fair and bright skin, and although she was wearing Thai clothing and makeup, she didn't look like a Thai person at all.
Her delicate features don't look out of place with heavy Thai makeup; instead, they create a unique charm.
Her figure is well-developed, but her face, although delicate like a porcelain doll, looks so young, not like an adult.
He took a step forward, and Momo unconsciously took a step back, until there was nowhere left to retreat.
Fu Yungui looked at the little white rabbit who had nowhere to escape, her whole body radiating tension and rejection. He couldn't help but smile, and with his hand, he lifted her chin, then gripped it tightly, pressing her against the tree behind her, making her look up at him.
The veins on his arms bulged, and his firm muscles pressed against her fair cheeks.
The little girl was so frightened that her eyes filled with tears. She didn't even have time to feel the pain. She didn't dare to look at him, yet she didn't dare not look at him.
With difficulty, she raised her eyes under his power and saw the man who was suddenly very close to her. He had an extremely handsome face and was leaning down to stare at her. However, his eyes were cold and piercing, making her shudder.
"Who are you?"
His tone was fairly patient.
Momo still gripped the edge of the tray tightly, as if trying to find a little courage, but when she heard him suddenly switch to asking her in Chinese, she relaxed a little.
Could he be Chinese too?
He certainly doesn't look like a Thai person.
Would he let me off the hook just because we're compatriots? I only ruined his plans unintentionally, not on purpose.
"My name is Huang Momo, and I'm the bride's best friend." Her voice trembled slightly as she spoke.
She figured that everyone attending the wedding today was probably Qi Qi's closest relative. Even if it was for Qi Qi's sake, they probably wouldn't make things too difficult for her.
"Fu Qiyu's friend?"
Upon hearing this, Momo knew he knew Qiqi too, so she immediately nodded obediently, glanced at him, and then quickly looked away. She was afraid of his gaze; it seemed to harbor a man-eating demon.
"Aren't you worried about not being able to get back after coming here for this wedding?"
Momo didn't know if he was trying to scare her, but she didn't have time to care at the moment.
"I'm a little... scared, but Qiqi is my best friend, and I have to come to her wedding."
A couple of days ago, I was a little scared thinking about coming to Thailand alone, but because Qiqi was there to witness my happy moment, I wasn't so scared anymore.
The man couldn't help but smile, as if mocking her youthful naiveté.
"I don't care whose friend you are. You think you can just run away after stumbling upon someone's privacy?"
The pressure on his hand gripping her chin increased with his tone, causing her to burst into tears that she had been holding back for so long. The tears fell onto the web of Fu Yungui's hand that was gripping her chin.
He glanced down at it briefly, then wiped it away casually, not taking it seriously.
He hated crying women the most; they were so annoying. He had only pinched her neck a little; it wouldn't have hurt a hair on her head. Why was she crying so heartbrokenly, as if there was no tomorrow?
"I didn't see anything," Momo said again, her voice full of grievance. It was clearly his fault for flirting with a woman inappropriately, yet now it seemed like he was the one in the wrong.
Even if you didn't stumble upon it yourself, anyone could have happened to be passing by and seen it.
It's just that I'm the unlucky one.
Fu Yungui couldn't help but find it amusing. He raised the corners of his mouth and asked in a low voice, "If you didn't see anything, why did you run?"
He didn't do anything, so of course she didn't see anything. But since things had come to this, and he had already gotten the information he needed, he wanted to tease the girl a bit.
"I..." Momo was speechless for a moment, unable to defend herself.
"I didn't see it clearly."
"Didn't you see it clearly?"
As Fu Yungui spoke, he lifted her chin again, making her look up at him, "Do you see clearly now?"
"Look...look clearly." His face was almost touching hers, how could she not look clearly?
