Chapter 186 She felt Bian Xi had changed.

Chapter 186 She felt Bian Xi had changed.

There were three military-grade vehicles in total, and they looked quite new.

The cars were all traveling very fast, and Momo couldn't help but step back, afraid of being hit. She hid under a tree nearby, trying to make herself invisible.

And most importantly, seeing such a car here made her inexplicably nervous, fearing that it was someone sent by Fu Yungui to arrest her.

The first car sped past the girl, its windows all open, and Momo could see the people sitting inside.

They all had guns; they were clearly not residents of this area.

She was startled and took a few steps back.

Just then, a third car passed by the girls. The girls kept their heads down the whole time, and Momo also lowered her head, as if afraid of being seen by the people in the car.

The people standing by the roadside only dared to look up after they heard the car had passed by.

The car had only gone halfway when it reversed straight back. Momo stared at it, her whole body suddenly tensing up, and she could clearly feel her hands trembling.

Although she couldn't see anyone in the car, she was still terrified.

Don't try to hide from their gaze in the car, begging them not to notice you.

The car came to a smooth stop in front of the girls. Several burly men got out, glanced at Momo not far away, frowned and didn't look at her again. Then they stared at the girls in front of them with satisfied smiles.

“These girls are pretty good-looking and young, they’d be so much fun to have sex with.” The man in the lead lifted one of the girls’ faces and said this.

After saying that, he turned straight back to look at the person sitting in the back of the car, as if to ask for his permission.

If he hadn't been there today, he wouldn't have even felt the need to ask for instructions.

There's an unwritten custom here: those poor women are like commodities, they all have a price. Once you've taken a liking to them, you can have them if you pay.

Even underage girls.

Moreover, these minors are more sought after here, especially the good-looking and virgin ones.

Even without prior notice, you can simply take them away if you see them randomly on the street. After you've had your fun with them, you can put some money or something of value in their pockets and then return them.

The man in the back seat remained expressionless, glanced at the girls standing outside, and then said nothing.

Silence is an admission.

In the past, he would not have tolerated them doing these things under his nose, but this time, he relented.

After all, if it weren't for them, he would have lost his life long ago.

Treating them to a treat isn't a big deal.

The man outside the car immediately signaled to the other men beside him, and they grabbed all the girls and put them in the car.

Suddenly, cries of despair and protests came from not far away.

Although they knew this was their fate, and that they would face such a situation someday, they were still children.

Children who have no real experience and have only heard these things from their parents.

Momo, who had been keeping her head down and not daring to look, suddenly stood up straight after hearing the screams.

She looked up and then unconsciously clenched her fist.

The girl gritted her teeth, not wanting to meddle in other people's business, fearing it would implicate her.

At this moment, she was too busy taking care of herself to protect anyone else, but a sense of guilt kept welling up inside her.

It seems to be a sense of guilt for not helping someone in distress.

Momo's feet seemed to be glued to the spot, and she dared not take another step forward.

The men were shoving the last girl into the car; half of her leg was still sticking out, kicking and resisting wildly.

As Momo watched, she felt that feeling of despair and helplessness was all too familiar.

She felt as if she were seeing herself in the mirror.

In the end, she couldn't hold back any longer and rushed over, grabbing the girl's foot, which had already been pulled in halfway.

"Let them go."

Momo said this with almost all her courage, even with the mindset of certain death.

"What are you doing, little beggar?" The man who grabbed the girl looked at her with disgust, and even tried to pull out his gun.

"Get out of here right now, or I'll kill you."

Momo felt even more nervous as she listened, but since she had been prepared to die the moment she rushed forward, she now felt a little more at ease.

The girl looked up, and as soon as she glanced at it, her heart skipped a beat, followed by disbelief. She thought it was too much of a coincidence.

The person sitting in the car was none other than Bian Xi.

She had been searching for Bian Xi here all along.

"Bian, Bian Xi?" Momo's expression was extremely complicated; she could hardly believe the person she was seeing.

After hearing the sound, Bian Xi looked over from Pan Wen's right side and saw that the girl's face was completely covered in mud, making it impossible to see her original appearance. Her body was also filthy.

He paused slightly, frowned, and didn't intend to respond, but then he heard another sentence, "I am Momo."

Momo could tell from his expression that he didn't recognize her, so she immediately reached out and wiped her face, trying to remove all the dirt so that he could see her face clearly.

"Momo?"

Bian Xi could hardly believe it when she heard the name, but now, upon closer inspection, the figure and face were indeed those of Momo.

He immediately pushed aside Pan Wen next to him and got out of the car.

"Momo, how could it be you?" Bian Xi was both surprised and delighted.

"I escaped from the foot of the mountain." When Momo saw him, she felt wronged and wanted to cry.

All the hardships and pain along the way, after being strong for so long, crumbled the moment I saw him.

Bian Xi saw that the dried mud on the girl's face had been moistened again, and felt a little sorry for her. He immediately reached out and hugged her.

"Don't cry, Momo," he comforted her.

"This isn't the place to talk, let's get in the car first."

Upon hearing this, Momo got up from his embrace and nodded.

Then she remembered what had just happened and looked into the car, "Those girls...why did you arrest them?"

Bian Xi was stunned when she heard this, but without thinking, she said, "You misunderstood. It wasn't an arrest. We just wanted to let them in to ask them a few questions. Maybe their actions were a little rough."

The girls in the car huddled there listening, not daring to utter a single word in rebuttal.

“I’ll have them release them right away,” Bian Xi added.

Momo didn't quite believe it, but she didn't ask any more questions.

She felt that Bian Xi seemed to have changed a bit.

(Author's Note)

I've seen your comments these past few days, and I'd like to offer some explanation (this is definitely not an excuse, haha). Please read it patiently.

1. Regarding update time.

I promised you all that I'd get back on track, so I tried my best to adjust, but I've been writing the gunfight chapters too slowly lately, so my one-day attempt to adjust ended in failure. I'm really sorry.

2. Regarding the extra chapters.

I wrote about cars last week, so that counts as an extra chapter. After all, there were three chapters of that content, hahaha.

However, I admit that I haven't been updating much this month. But there's nothing I can do about it; as you all know, I'm not a full-time writer. I just write in my spare time, purely out of hobby.

I spend four or five hours a day now, and even with the tips from my fans, I only earn less than twenty yuan a day. To be honest, this amount of money is not even enough to cover my hard work; I'm just doing this out of love.

If I relied on this, I would have starved to death long ago. Hahaha. So I can only do my best to update more chapters for you all when I have time, because you have always supported me unconditionally, and I am truly grateful to you all.

3. Regarding the nature of the work.

I have a job during the day as an editor of science textbooks. Anyone who works in or knows about the publishing industry knows that it's a huge workload and requires a lot of eye and brainpower.

The books I have are already scheduled for September by our group leader, and it's only May now... Hahaha, so sad.

The manuscripts on my desk are piled up so high, if I weren't so tall, I'd be buried in them, hahaha. Seeing those manuscripts every day gives me a headache.

Previously, I was only responsible for textbooks for three subjects: mathematics, mechanical and electrical engineering, and electronics and electrical engineering. This year, because some colleagues resigned and others were pregnant and on maternity leave, I was also assigned a computer science textbook.

This is a new subject, and it seems very slow. I have to look up information and compare it with other materials. Plus, my team leader keeps urging me to work overtime and finalize the draft every day...

So I'm exhausted every day. After coming back, I spend a few hours writing two chapters. Sometimes I'm so tired that I can't write anymore.

Of course, this is not meant to be a complaint; after all, every industry is tough. Making money is never easy; if you want to get money from your boss, you have to put in the effort.

So what I'm trying to say is that for the past two months, I've probably had to stay at the company every night to work overtime, and even on some weekends I've had to work overtime.

After all, my team leader gave me a strict order: five computer books must be finalized and printed before the Dragon Boat Festival... otherwise... I don't know what the consequences will be, maybe it will affect my year-end bonus, hahaha.

It seems that nothing can threaten working people except money.

So I don't think I'll have much time to add more chapters later, and the daily update time might not be very stable, but I'll try to update as early as possible.

But I won't stop updating, my darlings, don't worry, I definitely won't. I will write this story well and make it even more exciting.

I understand the hard work and eagerness of the kids to follow the serialized content. I myself don't like to follow the latest TV series or novels in my life.

But there's nothing we can do. That's life; there are always unexpected events and unexpected twists that prevent things from going as planned.

I've always longed to pursue freedom and distant places, but life always seems to hold me back.

I hope that one day I can make a living by writing novels, hahaha, then I'll immediately quit my job and go back to my hometown to relax, just thinking about it is wonderful.

I love you all, and I hope to continue to see your support. It is the meaning and motivation for me to keep going.

It makes me even happier than making money.

Goodnight, my darlings.
