Chapter 247 For Us
"Thank you." Momo thanked her politely as usual, and took the book and flipped through it.
"If you don't have any particular food in mind, or if you're not very familiar with Turkish culture, I can arrange for you to try some of our specialties," the hotel manager said.
Hearing this, Momo paused for a moment and quietly looked up at the person opposite her.
She's willing to do that.
After all, when you come to a new place, you should try the local specialties.
Otherwise, it would feel like a wasted trip.
The man was casually flipping through the menu when he felt a furtive gaze sweeping over him. He put down what he was holding and suddenly looked up.
The girl looked as if she had been caught peeking, her delicate face showing a shy smile, her bright eyes staring straight at him.
Fu Yungui scoffed, wanting to eat but not saying so.
He immediately handed the menu back to the person in charge and said casually, "You can arrange it as you see fit. Bring a little of everything that's a specialty."
The man replied with a smile, "Okay."
Momo paused, then asked him, "What if there are a lot?"
The person in charge was about to leave, but after taking only a few steps, he stopped when he heard the sound, fearing something might have changed.
The man lounging lazily in his chair waved at him.
The person in charge immediately understood, bowed slightly, and then decisively withdrew.
The man frowned and looked across at the other person. "Eat more if you want. It's been more than seven hours since you had breakfast at home this morning. Aren't you hungry?"
Upon hearing this, Momo felt her stomach growl.
The girl glanced down at her stomach, swallowed unconsciously, and then nodded seriously.
"I am a little hungry."
She hadn't felt particularly hungry at first, but after seeing the pictures on the menu, her stomach started rumbling.
But even if you're hungry, what if they have a lot of local specialties?
That's still more than we can eat.
But since she had already ordered, the girl didn't say anything more.
However, my attention was once again drawn to the scenery outside.
She moved inside and leaned out to look.
The girl braced her hands against the glass, peering out with curious eyes, her gaze filled with joy.
After watching for a while, she turned to the person opposite her and smiled, "After we finish eating, can we go for a walk over there?"
Fu Yungui leaned back in his chair and glanced at her. The girl's eyes were practically overflowing with anticipation; she was clearly very happy.
"Sure." The man raised an eyebrow and readily agreed.
The girl's eyes lit up instantly. "Thank you."
Upon hearing this, the man frowned. "Huang Momo, you're not allowed to thank me anymore."
The girl paused, then turned her gaze from the window back to the man's face, asking in confusion, "If you're not going to say thank you, then what should we say?"
Fu Yungui leaned forward, propped his hand on the table, and looked at her. Instead of answering her question, he asked out of the blue, "Are you happy?"
Momo was slightly taken aback, wondering why he suddenly asked that question.
But she was genuinely happy; she was deeply moved by the breathtakingly beautiful scenery that seemed to heal the soul.
The girl nodded earnestly, "Happy, thank you..." The words that were about to come out were abruptly swallowed back.
She stared at the man's face repeatedly, her expression indifferent, as if she hadn't noticed anything unusual.
She couldn't help but breathe softly.
The man couldn't help but smile at her nervous expression.
"Then after you're happy, I should be happy too."
"..." Momo's heart skipped a beat when she heard this.
She immediately lowered her eyes, refusing to look at him.
Just pretend you didn't hear anything.
Fu Yungui stared at the head that was almost buried under the table and found it somewhat amusing.
There's an old Chinese saying: "Covering one's ears while stealing a bell."
It was as if by hiding her round head, no one could see her.
"Huang Momo." The man reached out and tapped the table.
She smiled, pursing her lips, "It's not like I'm happy right now, so what are you afraid of?"
"Dinner's ready."
The girl didn't look up even after hearing the last sentence, until she smelled the fragrance wafting over, at which point she suddenly sat up.
She glanced a few times in the direction the aroma was coming from and met the gaze of the person in charge. Behind him was a row of pretty young women in ethnic costumes serving dishes.
The girl's eyes sparkled; Fu Yungui hadn't lied to himself after all.
Momo pursed her lips as she looked at the dishes being served.
The aroma that wafted over completely awakened one's sense of taste.
"These are Salma, Lkfte, Turkish kebab, Manti..." The person in charge stood beside them, carefully introducing each dish.
Especially the last soup, which looked somewhat like red beans to Momo, but was not quite the same as the red beans she had ever seen.
The person in charge noticed her gaze lingering and continued, "This is a soup made with red lentils, dry wheat flour, pepper sauce, and various Turkish spices. Here, it can also be served as a dish for brides-to-be, embodying their hopes for a happy marriage in the future."
"So it not only tastes good, but also has a great meaning."
"I hope you will like it."
He talked on and on, but the man on the other end barely listened, only hearing the last sentence.
It's still quite pleasant to listen to.
The girl was slightly taken aback, glanced at the person opposite her, whose expression remained unchanged, so she didn't think too much about it.
She turned and smiled at the person next to her, "Thank you, you've worked hard."
The person in charge nodded slightly and then withdrew.
Momo looked up at the man opposite her again, who raised his chin and said, "Eat more."
"Okay." The girl smiled.
These dishes suited her taste perfectly, and Momo's cheeks swelled up slightly as she ate.
The man opposite her was idly fiddling with his wine glass, staring at her intently.
The girl ate with great satisfaction, one bite after another.
It took the girl about half an hour to put down her chopsticks.
She looked up in a daze. The man's fingers were still on the wine glass, which was about half full of red wine, but she had no idea how many glasses this was.
Momo paused for a moment, then noticed the wine glass next to her right, which was still full and untouched.
The girl pursed her lips, glanced at her own, then at Fu Yungui's, and somehow picked it up.
Her hand was halfway up when she realized what was happening. It was too late to pull it back, so she could only awkwardly say, "Shall we have a drink?"
The man stared at her furrowed brow, seemingly pleased with her gesture, but still asked, "Why?"
"There always needs to be a reason for drinking, right?"
Momo was taken aback, feeling as if she had been suddenly asked a question by her teacher in school, and she couldn't immediately figure out why.
"For...for us."
The girl said it casually.
It sounds like a completely incoherent statement.
Fu Yungui smiled.
What a great "us".
The man leaned down, lowered the rim of his glass, and clinked it against the glass opposite him.
A crisp sound rang out, and in the quiet environment, Momo inexplicably heard her own heartbeat.
Thump thump.
