Chapter 34 Brother Bian Xi

Chapter 34 Brother Bian Xi

"Momo, you're finally back." It was Bian Xi who came out to greet her.

Upon seeing him, Momo suddenly froze in place, completely unprepared for the unexpected encounter. She was somewhat at a loss, staring intently at the man before her.

He was still tall and thin, but his features were more mature than a few years ago, and he also seemed a bit unfamiliar.

But when he smiled, his gentle eyes drooped slightly, and Momo felt that he seemed to have regained a bit of his former self.

It was her gentle and considerate brother Bian Xi.

"What are you doing standing there? Why don't you greet anyone?"

Momo snapped out of her daze upon hearing her mother's voice, lowered her head slightly, walked over, and called out somewhat shyly, "Brother Bian Xi..."

She had always called him that since she was a child, but now that they hadn't seen each other for several years, she felt a little uncomfortable calling him that so intimately again.

“Your brother Bian Xi came early this morning. He heard you were coming back today, so he came to see you.”

The speaker was Momo's mother, Su He, a woman with the typical demeanor of a woman from Jiangnan.

"Then you two chat first, I'll go check the kitchen." Su He deliberately left the two of them some private space to talk.

After she left, only the two of them remained in the large living room, and the atmosphere became somewhat awkward.

The two hadn't seen each other for several years. Although they would chat online occasionally, they didn't know what to say when they suddenly met in person.

Momo smiled at him, then asked softly, "Brother Bian Xi, when did you return to China?"

Although Su He had already told her the exact time Bian Xi would return, at this moment she just wanted to find a topic to talk about so that they could quickly become familiar with each other.

One week ago.

Bian Xi watched as the girl in front of him grew more and more attractive, even more stunning than the photos he had seen on her social media. He even felt a sense of crisis, as if she might be snatched away at any moment.

Fortunately, he returned in time, and everything was still in place. He had just asked Auntie, and Momo doesn't have a boyfriend yet.

“My father has always hoped that I could come back and help him run the company, saying that he is getting old and some things are becoming difficult for him to handle.” Bian Xi said with a smile.

Momo smiled and said, "Uncle Bian is right. After all, you are their only son."

“Yes.” Bian Xi said, unconsciously reaching out to touch her hair, looking at her with a doting expression. “But when you came back this time, it felt like our Momo had grown a lot, and she seemed to have grown taller too.”

Momo blushed at his sudden affectionate gesture, and her heart pounded wildly.

"Yes... it's five centimeters taller than before," she said truthfully.

When Bian Xi first went abroad, she was only a teenager. In the past few years, she has indeed grown a little taller.

"Dinner's ready." Su He called out to them as she came out of the kitchen. "Momo, go and call your Aunt Lin over too, she's home today."

The Aunt Lin that Su He mentioned is Bian Xi's mother. Both of their families live in this area, and Bian Xi's house is just one building to the right of theirs, very close by.

"Okay." Momo said, putting on her hat and preparing to go out.

Although Bian Xi has been away from China for the past few years, their two families still maintain frequent contact, especially Su He and Aunt Lin. The two often go to beauty salons or travel together, and they have a very good relationship.

Bian Xi reached out and grabbed her arm, then spoke gently to Su He, "Aunt Su, I'll just call my mom. It's so hot outside, it's not easy for Momo to make the trip."

"Let's go anyway, it only takes a few minutes."

Suhe has always been a very tactful and polite person. When inviting guests to your home, it's far better to personally invite them than to call and notify them.

Even though the two families have been good friends for many years, it's still important to be mindful of etiquette, especially since they live so close together, just a few steps away.

"Alright then." Bian Xi stopped hesitating. "Then I'll go with Momo."

"Okay then," Su He said with a smile, "I'll have Auntie set out the dishes and wait for you."

"good."

Bian Xi took a parasol from the umbrella stand by the door, and the two walked out of the yard. He went around to Momo's left and held it up for her.

Momo noticed that the sunlight was completely blocked from her body, so she pursed her lips and glanced at him, but only for a moment before lowering her head again.

Bian Xi smiled slightly when he saw her blush. She was still the same as before, always blushing for no reason whenever she saw him.

"Momo..." he called again.

"Hmm?" Momo looked at him intently. "What's wrong?"

Bian Xi paused, but didn't say what was in his heart, afraid that he would scare her if he was too eager.

"It's nothing, move closer to me, or you'll get sunburned." As he spoke, he put his arm around her shoulder.

"Okay." Momo obediently moved closer to the inside, but still kept a little distance.

The two walked forward side by side.

"Momo, I heard from your aunt that you're graduating this year and planning to become a director like Uncle Huang?"

Momo has always felt that Bian Xi speaks very gently, and his deep voice can bring warmth to people.

She was happy to listen to him and enjoyed chatting with him.

She nodded and answered him gently, "Yes, it is my dream."

She has admired her father since she was a child. Although he is not very well-known in China, the films he makes are of high quality and very meaningful.

Perhaps influenced by him since childhood, Momo has always loved this industry, but her father seems very reluctant to let her enter the entertainment circle.

Although he didn't say it explicitly, every time Momo discussed this matter with him, he would always change the subject with other topics.

After it happened many times, she could sense it, and she mentioned it less and less in front of her father.

“But it’s not easy for a girl to be a director. If you really decide to do it, you should be mentally prepared.” Bian Xi said with a smile.

"I know, but my dad doesn't seem too keen on it, so I need to think it over carefully. I don't want to upset him either," Momo told him.

"Uncle Huang might also be worried that you won't be able to adapt to the complexities of the entertainment industry. That circle is very complicated, and you're too naive; you'll easily get taken advantage of."

"Maybe so."

"No matter what, as long as you've thought it through, I'll support you."

"Thank you, Brother Bian Xi." His words warmed her heart; it was a wonderful thing to have someone support her dreams.

Don't be so polite with me.

"good."

Soon, the two arrived at the Bian family's door. Bian Xi entered the password and led her inside. Aunt Lin was in the living room arranging the flowers she had just cut from the garden.

Upon seeing the two enter, he immediately stood up and walked over.

"Momo's back from Thailand?" Aunt Lin smiled.

"Yes, I just got back. My mom invited you to come over for dinner too."

"Why didn't you just make a phone call? Why did you come all the way here?" Aunt Lin said politely.

Momo smiled and said, "Anyway, it's close by, so I'll just treat it as exercise."
