Chapter 36 Yes, I am
She reached out and took one to examine it closely; the patterns and carvings on the porcelain were exquisite.
"It's really beautiful, your dad will definitely like it." Su He carefully put the porcelain back.
“I’ll prepare some gifts in the next couple of days, you can send them to them,” Su He said again.
Actually, when Momo left for Thailand, Suhe had already prepared a lot of local specialties for her to take with her. However, she has never liked to owe anyone anything; reciprocity is the best way to show sincerity.
“Qiqi likes our mooncakes, and the Mid-Autumn Festival is just two months away, so why don’t we send some mooncakes over?” Momo suggested to her mother.
“Sure, then I’ll just buy some other things,” Su He said.
Momo nodded, "Okay."
The two stayed until about ten o'clock and were about to go back to sleep from the garden when Suhe received a phone call. Momo only heard her say a few words before hanging up.
"Your father will be home soon," Su He said gently, putting her arm around her daughter.
"Really?" Momo was pleasantly surprised; she felt like she hadn't seen her father in a long time.
Su He smiled and said, "Yes, we should be there soon. Uncle Chen just called to let me know."
"Great!" Momo turned and ran straight to the gate.
Soon, the sound of a car came from around the bend in the road.
Momo stood in the light and waved at the car, and Uncle Chen responded with his hazard lights on.
As soon as the car came to a smooth stop at the door, the man staggered out from the back of the car, and Momo immediately rushed towards him, "Daddy, I haven't seen you in so long."
The strong smell of alcohol hit her nose. Just from the smell, she knew that her father must have drunk a lot tonight. Momo immediately slipped out of his arms and deliberately spoke to him in a disgusted tone.
"Oh...you've been drinking again."
Huang Sanlin's face turned bright red, but he still smiled as he looked at his beloved daughter. "Momo's back! Did you have a good time in Thailand?"
"Happy." Momo said this insincerely without any hesitation.
Su He walked over and reached out to help him up, saying with a pained expression, "Honey, you've worked so hard."
Huang Sanlin would hear this sentence every time he came back. It was a very ordinary sentence, but it was a sentence that he would think of whenever he encountered something unpleasant at work.
Huang Sanlin reached out and put his arm around his wife's waist. He was so drunk that he could barely open his eyes, but he still smiled at her unconsciously. "It's not hard work. With you all here, I feel it's all worth it, no matter how tired or bitter I am."
Su He smiled slightly, then reached out and touched his eyebrows and eyes without saying a word.
"Dad, go inside and rest." Momo helped her mother carry her father, who was already drunk and dazed, into his room.
“Okay…” Huang Sanlin leaned against his wife and followed her upstairs.
As soon as they entered the room, Suhe put her husband on the bed and let him rest for a while. Then she turned to Momo and said, "Momo, you should go back to sleep first. Mom can take care of Dad here. You can talk to Dad tomorrow when he's sober."
"Okay." Momo tactfully left the room, leaving her parents some alone time.
My parents have had a very good relationship since they got married. Every time my father comes back from outside, he brings gifts for my mother, and the two of them will talk all night long.
When she was little, she didn't understand why the two of them still had so much to talk about after being together for so many years. Later, after she entered adolescence and had someone she admired, she seemed to understand.
When two people in love are together, they always have endless things to talk about. They want to share everything that happens to them with each other.
After Momo left the room, Suhe went into the bathroom and brought back some hot water to wipe her husband's face and upper body so that he could feel more comfortable.
"Ahe..." Su He's hand had just touched his face when Huang Sanlin reached out and grabbed her hand tightly.
"Mm," Su He replied calmly. "I'm here."
"I'm so tired lately, I really want to stop and rest." Huang Sanlin sighed with his eyes closed, and after saying this, he fell into a deep sleep.
Su He's hand was still being held by him, and she didn't try to break free. She just sat quietly by the bed and looked at his face. In the blink of an eye, they had known each other for more than 20 years. When did this young man with a youthful face start to get wrinkles?
She understood his hardships and knew that the movie he was currently preparing for was his long-held dream. He wanted to be both the director and producer, but the biggest problem was the lack of funds.
Therefore, this person, who never deliberately tries to please others, has started to learn how to solicit sponsorships and investments from various companies.
This is how it has always been in this industry; without a big name, it's impossible to establish oneself easily, and no one will bother with someone who has no reputation.
They don't care about the quality of the work; they only care about whether it can bring in revenue.
Su He fully supports his career; otherwise, she wouldn't have followed him from Wuxi to settle down here.
Although he hasn't achieved the kind of meteoric success that the world expects, the family of three is still very content and happy, and she is very satisfied.
The man was fast asleep, but his brows remained tightly furrowed, and he refused to let go of his gaze.
Su He reached out and gently stroked him. Even though she knew he couldn't hear anymore, she still said, "Get a good night's sleep. Everything will get better slowly."
The man shifted his body, then lay back down to sleep.
After returning to her room and chatting with Qi Qi for a while, Momo waited for Bian Xi's message on her phone. He said he would contact her later, but she fell asleep while waiting.
The next morning, Momo woke up very early. The first thing she did was check her phone for messages, but there was nothing from Bian Xi. She was a little disappointed, but only for a short while before washing up and getting ready to go downstairs. Just as she stepped onto the stairs, she heard laughter and conversation coming from downstairs.
"Momo, you're awake?" Bian Xi turned to look at her as she came down the stairs, her face still bearing a gentle smile.
Momo smiled and nodded. She was pleasantly surprised that he had come so early in the morning. "Good morning, Brother Bian Xi."
After saying that, he walked over to them and looked at Huang Sanlin, asking, "Dad, what are you talking about?"
"It's nothing, just chatting." Huang Sanlin smiled, having completely sobered up after a deep sleep last night.
“Yeah, just casually talking about the latest news,” Bian Xi said.
"Oh..." Momo smiled and didn't ask any more questions.
Just then, Suhe called her from the kitchen to have breakfast, and she quickly got up and went over.
A vase sat on the dining table, filled with vibrant, pale yellow roses.
Seeing her staring at her curiously, Su He smiled and said, "It was brought by your brother Bian Xi. He said he picked it in the garden this morning and wanted to give it to you."
Momo blushed slightly upon hearing this, and immediately stepped away from Su He's meaningful gaze, reaching out to fiddle with the vibrant petals.
"Alright, let's eat." Su He saw that she was embarrassed, and she knew exactly what the girl was thinking.
Momo quickly lowered her head and obediently ate her food.
"By the way, Mom, how's Dad's work going lately?" Momo asked with concern.
