Chapter 53 Are you pregnant?
Momo was taken aback, then got up from his embrace and asked him anxiously, "Then what should we do? I'm really afraid he'll hurt you."
If even the police can't do anything about him, what should be done?
"It's alright, don't worry." Bian Xi smiled. "As long as our hearts are together, I'm not afraid."
“But Fu Yungui is…” Momo paused for a moment and then said, “He’s really not easy to deal with, and he’s not someone who gives up so easily.”
“Momo, men understand men. Basically, they all crave novelty and the thrill of conquest, especially things that are pure and clean.” Bian Xi spoke euphemistically, but deliberately emphasized the words ‘pure and clean’.
Momo pursed her lips, as if she understood somewhat.
"So, I had my parents come today to discuss with my uncle and aunt whether we can get our marriage certificate first, and the wedding can still be held as scheduled," Bian Xi said.
Momo paused for a few seconds before asking, "What if it's still useless after marriage?"
Bian Xi pulled her hand and said, "I can't worry about that anymore, and I can't think that far ahead. Let's get married first, then go abroad for our honeymoon, and come back after a while."
Momo lowered her head and remained silent. She recalled what Fu Yungui had said last night: if she got married, he would kill Bian Xi.
She was still a little scared, afraid that he would hurt Bian Xi.
"Momo, don't you want to?" Bian Xi looked down at her conflicted face.
"No..." she immediately denied. How could she not want to? But now everything had developed beyond her imagination.
"Then let's not hesitate. As long as your aunt and uncle agree, we'll go tomorrow, okay?" Bian Xi's tone was a little hurried, as if she was afraid that she would refuse.
Momo took a deep breath and nodded at him. At this moment, there seemed to be no better way, so she could only take it one step at a time.
Since she had already decided to get married, she didn't care if it was a few months earlier. However, this beautiful fantasy of marriage seemed to be mixed with too many factors, preventing her from truly enjoying its simple happiness.
"Okay." The moment Bian Xi saw her nod, he finally felt a sense of reality.
"Then how should we explain it to Mom and Dad so that they don't suspect anything?" Momo asked him.
Bian Xi smiled at her, "You don't need to worry about that. My parents should already be talking to your aunt and uncle about it. They're saying it's my idea to become your legal husband and wife as soon as possible. Let's not talk about anything else for now."
Momo nodded in agreement.
By the time the two came downstairs, the parents had almost finished their discussion. Bian Xi could tell from her parents' expressions that the outcome was in, and it was quite good.
Ms. Lin smiled and said to her son, "Bian Xi, why don't you thank your parents-in-law properly? They understand your thoughts very well and have agreed to your idea of getting your marriage certificate first."
Upon hearing this, Bian Xi's face instantly lit up with a smile. She quickly turned around and bowed to Huang Sanlin and Su He, saying, "Thank you for your support, Uncle and Aunt."
Su He smiled and said, "We're all family, what difference does it make if we're a little earlier or later?"
Momo, standing nearby, immediately noticed her mother's expression. Although her mother appeared happy and understanding, Momo knew her mother's happiness wasn't genuine; it was merely a matter of politeness.
Huang Sanlin chimed in, "Yeah, anyway, how could we not feel at ease with Momo marrying Bian Xi? They live so close by, we're very satisfied."
Ms. Lin said politely, "You are very generous. Anyway, we won't let Momo suffer when she comes to our home, so you can rest assured."
Su He smiled, then glanced at Momo without saying anything.
"Momo and I discussed it and we're planning to get our marriage certificate tomorrow," Bian Xi said, squeezing Momo's hand.
"Tomorrow?" Even Ms. Lin was surprised when she heard the date.
“Yes.” Momo smiled and then spoke, “I like tomorrow. I heard it will snow, so I hope to marry Bian Xi when the first snow of the year falls.”
"So we decided to get our marriage certificate tomorrow."
“Okay.” Ms. Lin smiled. “Anyway, you young people are the type to pursue romance, it’s normal.”
"Ahe, Sanlin, what do you two think?" Ms. Lin turned to ask her in-laws.
Su He didn't say anything, but just smiled and nodded in agreement.
"Thank you, Uncle and Aunt." Bian Xi expressed her gratitude to the two elders in front of her.
"You're too kind. As long as you're happy, we're satisfied," Huang Sanlin said with a smile.
"I will, I will definitely protect Momo." The vow was made with the utmost sincerity.
Huang Sanlin smiled and nodded, "Okay."
After Bian Xi and the others left, Huang Sanlin went to his study to work. Su He pulled Momo to the back garden.
"Momo, tell Mommy, has something happened?" Su He's face was full of worry at this moment, and she had a vague feeling that something was wrong.
Momo lowered her head. She knew she couldn't hide it from her mother, but she also couldn't let her know the whole truth.
"Speak up, don't hide it from me, you're making me anxious."
“Mom…” Momo took a deep breath and was about to speak when Su He’s voice came out first.
"Are you pregnant?" Su He asked cautiously.
But after asking, she herself wasn't entirely convinced. She knew her daughter; she wouldn't be that kind of person.
But young people... are inevitably impulsive.
Momo was stunned for a moment, then laughed easily, "Mom, of course not, how could that be? I wouldn't do that before I got married, you know that."
"And Mom, my period isn't over yet." She added, afraid Su He wouldn't believe her.
Su He's expression did not soften after hearing her words; instead, she became even more worried. "If it's not because of this, then there must be something else you're hiding from me."
"No," Momo answered crisply, afraid that if she hesitated even a little, her mother would catch her.
"Really?" Su He was somewhat skeptical.
Momo smiled and took her hand. "Really, Mom, don't overthink it."
Seeing the calm and natural expression on her face, Su He took a deep breath and said, "It's good that you're really alright."
"Of course it's fine." She smiled easily.
"Why are you in such a hurry? Mom isn't ready yet."
This sentence encapsulates all the complex emotions a mother feels before her daughter's marriage. It's not just reluctance, but also a sense of inexplicable resentment.
Why are you suddenly getting married? I feel like I'm still so young.
Momo felt guilty, but could only comfort her, "Mom, forgive me for being so willful this once. I will be happy."
Su He stared at her daughter for a few moments, then turned to face her in an instant, unable to hold back any longer, tears streaming down her face.
She waved to Momo behind her back, then quickly left.
"Mom..." Momo was also heartbroken.
Suhe did not respond and had already turned and walked away from the flower stand.
Momo stood there, feeling a pang of sadness.
