Chapter 194: Reluctant

Chapter 194: Reluctant

Mu Junyan felt helpless and excited at the same time. He didn't expect that she was having a child.

He held Gu Huan's face and whispered in her ear: "Be careful when you cry, and be careful of our son."

Gu Huan stopped crying abruptly, pushed him away with her hands, and glared at him angrily: "Is my daughter not okay?"

"Okay, okay, okay. The children all like it." Mu Junyan chuckled.

Gu Hua rolled her eyes at him and said, "You claim that you won't marry or have children. Who knows if you really like children?"

Mu Junyan quickly hugged her into his arms: "That's because you haven't met someone you like."

Gu Huan's face turned red, she glanced outside, and let out a few fake sobs.

Then he asked in a stingy voice, "What are your plans? What should I do?"

Mu Junyan looked at her almond-shaped eyes darting around like a frightened kitten, and couldn't help but peck her lips.

"I didn't intend to let you know. I was going to find a chance to tell you when I got back to Beijing, but you cried so hard that I was so upset that I couldn't help but show up."

Gu Huan was ambushed by him and her face turned red. She was afraid that others might hear her, so she cried twice.

Mu Junyan said helplessly: "It's not convenient to talk here. When you get tired of crying, go back to your room."

Gu Huan understood what he meant.

Watching Mu Junyan disappear into thin air, Gu Huan's heart began to beat fast and she felt a little nervous.

But my depressed heart was relieved.

This life finally changed, her child came back and her husband was not dead.

Finally, night fell. Gu Huan returned to the room, took a shower and changed clothes, then asked Donghua and the others to light two charcoal stoves. She also instructed the kitchen to prepare nourishing medicinal food and three or four dishes that Mu Junyan liked on a daily basis. She also set out two sets of bowls and chopsticks, and then asked them to retreat and guard the door, not letting anyone in.

Zhou Zhilan wanted to accompany her, but she refused.

They thought she was going to use these delicious foods to offer sacrifice to her master, and although they felt sorry for her, they did not dare to disturb her.

After waiting for a long time, Mu Junyan came out from some corner.

When Gu Huan saw that he was wearing a narrow black robe, a padded jacket, and a wide belt, she immediately became anxious.

She walked up to him and was about to untie his belt, saying softly, "You're burned and you're still wearing such tight clothes and such a tight belt. What will happen if the wound fester and sticks to your clothes?"

Mu Junyan chuckled, but did not stop her, allowing her to undress.

When Gu Huan took off her inner clothes, she was stunned when she saw her back covered with scars.

Suddenly I realized that he had deceived me again.

She hurriedly put his underwear on and glared at him fiercely: "You lied to me again."

Mu Junyan looked innocent: "I thought Madam wanted to see my abdominal muscles."

Gu Huan blushed with shame, stretched out her little fist and punched his chest muscle: "You only know how to bully me. You lied to me, faked your death, and made me cry so hard that I was heartbroken. Aren't you afraid of hurting your child?"

As she spoke, tears of grievance fell.

Mu Junyan felt so distressed that he quickly hugged her in his arms, gently stroking her back to comfort her.

"If I hadn't seen you crying so hard and was afraid that you might get hurt, I shouldn't have shown up."

"But... you still have a new wound, why don't you bandage it properly?"

"They are just superficial injuries. They will heal after applying some medicine."

Gu Huan sobbed, "But the whip wounds haven't healed yet."

Mu Junyan teased: "It's really okay, I have plenty of strength, do you want to try?"

Gu Huan raised her tearful eyes and glared at him: "You..."

Mu Junyan lifted her chin and teased her: "Okay, okay, I'm just trying to make you happy, smile. I don't want my child to be a crybaby when he's born."

Gu Huan was speechless.

She knew that he was trying to make her happy on purpose, but the old and new wounds on his body were so shocking to her, how could she not feel heartbroken.

"It's nothing. I'm a soldier, so my skin grows fast."

Seeing that she was about to cry again, Mu Junyan quickly wiped away her tears.

Gu Huan tried hard to hold back her tears and said seriously, "Do you know what kind of peace delegation the imperial court has sent?"

"We have received the news from the capital, but we still don't know who is leading the charge."

Gu Huan grabbed his arm and whispered hurriedly, "Five years ago, your two brothers died in mysterious circumstances. It was Prince Ping'an who wrote a letter to the prefect at the time, betraying their military intelligence, leading to an ambush in your ranks."

Mu Junyan looked at her steadily.

He didn't want to make her worry too much, and didn't want her to be involved in those dirty power struggles. However, she was already inseparable from him, and he had to let her grow up, otherwise, there would come a time when he would not be able to protect her.

He sighed, held her on his lap, and put his arm around her waist: "Huan'er, you know I have left a way out for you, you can..."

"No!" Gu Huan interrupted him with a gloomy face.

"Don't even think about trying to persuade me to leave you! I can't let my child be fatherless!"

She was afraid that he would say something asking her to divorce him, and at this point, their fates were tied together.

What's more, there are children.

She had never been loved by her parents in both her lives, and she absolutely did not want her children to lack love from both their parents.

Mu Junyan's heart trembled, and he couldn't help but kiss her lips as she wanted to speak.

Their lips touched and both of them trembled slightly. The surroundings suddenly became quiet, with only the intertwining sounds of each other's breathing remaining.

After a long time, Mu Junyan reluctantly let go of the person in his arms and stared at Gu Huan, whose eyes were dazed and had not yet come back to her senses.

He raised his hand to tuck her scattered hair behind her ears, and whispered distressedly and complicatedly: "Huan'er, if you must choose to be by my side, you must think carefully about what you will face."

Gu Huan was so dizzy from the kiss that she finally managed to regain her senses.

"I know. I've thought about it."

For the first time, Gu Huan felt so scared of losing him.

She wrapped her arms around his neck and rested her head on his chest: "Don't worry, I will try my best."

Mu Junyan touched her head distressedly: "You don't have to work too hard, you need to take care of yourself and give birth to our child."

Gu Huan nodded: "Then you should take care of yourself too. Come, let's eat, the child is hungry."

Mu Junyan heard her stomach growling and couldn't help but smile: "Are you hungry?"

Gu Huan pouted and nodded honestly: "I haven't eaten for almost a whole day."

Mu Junyan quickly carried her to the table, asked her to sit down, and pulled a chair to sit next to her.

He personally served her a bowl of soup: "Drink some soup first."

Watching her drink the soup, he served her a bowl of rice.

"No matter what happens, you can't starve yourself. Especially don't let your children starve."

As he spoke, he picked up a piece of fish, carefully removed the bones, and put it in her bowl.

Gu Huan ate obediently, glanced at him, and puffed her lips and muttered, "Are you afraid of starving the child?"

Mu Junyan patted her forehead gently: "I'm most afraid of you being hungry."

Gu Huan let out a light "oh" and started eating happily.

"You eat too. These are your favorite dishes, specially made for you."

Mu Junyan watched her lower her head and eat seriously, her face full of tears, like a very hungry little white rabbit, her mouth constantly chewing, so cute.

He was a soldier and had no appetite. When he was on the march or fighting, he ate very simply.

But since Gu Huan came into his life, eating became much more interesting. Seeing her eat with relish, he also started to enjoy his meals.

Zhou Zhilan was worried, so she walked closer to the door, lifted the curtain and looked inside.

I couldn't see what was inside because of the large carved rosewood screen. I could only hear the gentle clatter of bowls and chopsticks while eating.

She was very puzzled as it didn't sound like Gu Huan was eating alone.

"Eat this. Don't you like this?"

Zhou Zhilan felt like she was struck by lightning when she heard Gu Huan's voice.

Could it be that Gu Huan was hallucinating because she missed her master?

But Zhou Zhilan didn't dare to go in, in case she was immersed in her fantasy and made her sad, which would be bad for her and the child.

She had no choice but to cough twice, and when she heard the voice inside paused, she spoke: "Huan'er, are you finished eating? Let's come in and clean up the dishes."

"I haven't finished eating. No need to clean up. I can do it tomorrow."

Gu Huan's voice sounded a little flustered.

Zhou Zhilan didn't think about anything else and advised: "Don't be too sad. Go to bed early after dinner. There will be people coming to pay their respects tomorrow."

Gu Huan glanced at Mu Junyan and said, "Okay. I'll go to sleep soon."
