Chapter 1179 Greed

Chapter 1179 Greed

It turned out that the former queen did give birth to a child, but that child was a girl.

In order to preserve the royal bloodline, the former queen had to secretly send her daughter away in exchange for a boy, who is now the crown prince.

And the girl who was sent away was...

Jiang Xue's hands were shaking so much that she could barely hold the diary.

Just then, there was a loud noise and the door of the secret room was knocked open.

"Your Highness, you are here!"

The palace guard leader rushed in with a team of guards. When he saw the diary in Jiang Xue's hand, his face suddenly changed: "What did you see?"

Jiang Xue tightly guarded the diary in her hand, thinking about how to escape.

She quickly scanned the secret room, looking for any possible way out, but found that the door of the secret room was sealed and the only window was locked tightly with iron bars.

"You...what did you see?"

The palace guard commander's expression suddenly changed, with greed and ferocity flashing in his eyes.

He took a step forward and reached out to try to snatch the diary.

Jiang Xue retreated quickly, but the space in the secret room was too small. Her back was pressed against the cold wall, and every step she took was painful.

She tried her best to keep herself steady and used all her strength to protect the diary to prevent it from falling into the hands of the commander of the guards.

"Don't touch it!" Jiang Xue shouted through gritted teeth, with an unquestionable firmness in her voice.

The guard commander's eyes became even more intense, and he approached with a sneer, like a tiger staring at its prey.

He pulled hard, trying to snatch the diary from Jiang Xue's hands.

Jiang Xue's body leaned back involuntarily, her hands tightly grasping the edge of the diary.

But the commander of the guards was much more powerful than she had imagined. The cover of the diary had been torn, and the paper made a slight tearing sound that was frightening.

"You shouldn't come here, and you shouldn't read this diary!" the guard commander roared, his voice echoing in the secret room, as if to shatter every corner here.

At this moment, a cold voice came from outside the door: "Stop!"

Xiao Zhan finally arrived, his eyes as sharp as an eagle, scanning everyone in the secret room.

His appearance seemed to bring a glimmer of hope to Jiang Xue, but the commander of the guards obviously did not intend to let her go easily. Instead, he pressed her even more fiercely.

"Master Prime Minister, this man is suspected of a serious crime and must be arrested!"

The commander of the palace guards glared at him but refused to give in.

Xiao Zhan's face turned pale, and he quickly rushed towards Jiang Xue, trying to protect her behind him.

But the guards were led by a large number of people, so Xiao Zhan had to distract himself to deal with the enemies around him.

Several black-clad guards pounced on Xiao Zhan like wild beasts, trying to trip him up so that he couldn't get to Jiang Xue in time.

"Xiaoxue, hold on!" Xiao Zhan's voice was anxious and firm, and his eyes kept looking for a breakthrough in the crowd.

Jiang Xue's heart was beating violently and beads of sweat appeared on her forehead.

She felt the diary in her hand becoming heavier and heavier, as if it was going to crush her hands.

The guard leader's relentless pursuit made it hard for her to breathe, and every step was excruciatingly painful.

Her hands were numb, but an unyielding fire burned in her heart.

"Never give up!" Jiang Xue gritted her teeth secretly, her eyes quickly searching for a possible way out in the secret room.

Just then, her hand touched a bump on the wall that seemed a little unusual.

The commander of the guards sneered on his face. He realized that time was running out and he had to take the diary before Xiao Zhan arrived.

He pulled hard and almost tore Jiang Xue's hand off the diary.

Countless thoughts flashed through Jiang Xue's mind.

Just when the commander of the guards was about to succeed, an idea flashed through Jiang Xue's mind. She quickly pressed the protruding mechanism on the wall. In an instant, the floor of the secret room began to vibrate and dust flew everywhere.

"Oops!" The guard commander's face changed drastically. He realized that he had fallen into a trap, but it was too late.

The floor of the secret room suddenly cracked, dragging him and several guards into the dark abyss.

Jiang Xue breathed a sigh of relief. She turned around quickly and looked at Xiao Zhan with a firm gaze, holding the crucial diary tightly in her hand.

“Yun Che, be careful!” she shouted, with determination and firmness in her voice.

The floor of the secret room suddenly cracked, as if a giant beast opened its bloody mouth and swallowed the commander of the guards and several guards.

Dust flew, gravel rolled, and a deafening roar echoed in the secret room, as if the end of the world was coming.

The guard commander was falling.

Jiang Xue was quick-witted and quick-handed. She took advantage of the chaotic situation and pushed away the last guard who was blocking her way.

The guard was stunned by this sudden change. Before he could react, he felt his feet go empty and he fell down. He let out a scream that echoed in the secret room, adding to the terrifying atmosphere.

Jiang Xue didn't have time to think about it. She ran to the other side of the secret room as quickly as a nimble cat.

There, an inconspicuous secret door was faintly visible on the shaking wall.

She took a deep breath, pushed the secret door open with force, slipped in, and disappeared into the darkness.

Behind the secret door is a narrow passage, winding and pitch dark.

Jiang Xue groped the wall and moved forward cautiously, her heart pounding as if it was about to jump out of her chest.

The diary was in her hands, and she held it tightly, as if it was her only hope.

"Xiaoxue!" Xiao Zhan's voice came from behind, filled with anxiety and worry.

He pushed through the crowd and rushed into the secret room, but saw only an empty room and a huge crack on the ground.

"Damn it!" Xiao Zhan cursed inwardly. He looked around and found a secret door on the wall. He immediately realized that Jiang Xue had escaped.

He entered the secret door without hesitation and chased after him.

In the corridor, Jiang Xue heard Xiao Zhan's footsteps and felt relieved.

The two met in the darkness and held each other's hands tightly as if they had grabbed a life-saving straw.

"Are you okay?" Xiao Zhan's voice was low and powerful, with a barely perceptible tremor.

"It's okay." Jiang Xue shook her head and held the diary tightly in her hand: "Let's go!"

The two ran all the way along the passage and finally saw a ray of light.

They rushed out of the passage and found themselves in the back garden of the Prince's palace.

The night breeze blew gently on their faces, bringing a hint of coolness.

"Finally I'm out!" Jiang Xue breathed a sigh of relief, feeling like she had survived a calamity.

However, before they could breathe a sigh of relief, a sharp voice broke the silence of the night.

"Do you think you can escape like this?"

Jiang Xue and Xiao Zhan looked up suddenly, and saw Concubine Xian standing not far away with a sinister smile on her face.

Behind her stood a group of guards, surrounding them.
