Chapter 86 Wedding and mourning (17)
The guests were originally scattered nearby, making jokes and chatting with their partners while working.
First, An Nanyuan, who was closest to Bai Shuang's group picking chestnuts, discovered something was wrong.
An Nan was originally chopping dead branches with the variety show star, but suddenly heard Zhao Zhen, who was not far away, calling Bai Shuang's name. Because Bai Shuang had just suffered a blow today, An Nan subconsciously paid more attention to Bai Shuang. When he heard Zhao Zhen's voice becoming more and more urgent, with surprise and worry, he quickly straightened up and looked towards Bai Shuang.
Bai Shuang stood there in a daze, her hands trembling as she pointed at something in the distance. Her face was pale, as if she had seen something horrible.
An Nanyuan's heart tightened, and he immediately thought of the corpse they saw in the woods on the way to Jiazifen Village. So he immediately put down the firewood in his hand and walked a few steps to Bai Shuang's side.
"What's wrong?" An Nanyuan looked in the direction Bai Shuang pointed, but only saw branches and leaves swaying in the wind, and nothing suspicious.
He hurriedly said something to Zhao Zhen and asked Zhao Zhen to look after Bai Shuang, then he strode over there, pushed aside the branches and walked upwards, wanting to get closer to find out what had scared Bai Shuang.
An Nanyuan's unusual behavior caught the attention of the variety show host, who quickly put down the backpack in his hand and walked over quickly.
Then, because of the unusual movements here, all the guests gradually realized that something was wrong with Bai Shuang and gathered around.
"What's wrong with Bai Shuang?" Lu Xingxing looked at Bai Shuang, whose whole body was stiff, in some surprise. He waved his hands in front of her, but she didn't respond.
Bai Shuang's eyes were wide open, but her pupils were shrunk into a dot and her nostrils were slightly dilated. She was obviously very frightened and was unable to react for a long time.
"I don't know either." Zhao Zhen shook his head and said worriedly, "She seemed to have seen something. When I turned around, she was already like this. She looked frightened. But I didn't see anything. I don't know what she saw."
Lu Xingxing frowned: "From which direction did she see that thing? Was it the location she pointed to?"
Zhao Zhen nodded: "Annanyuan has already gone to see it."
Hearing this, Lu Xingxing strode over, slipped through the messy branches in a few seconds, and soon caught up with An Nanyuan.
Annanyuan was looking around in confusion, totally unaware of what he should be looking for.
"Did you see anything?" After the sound of clothes scraping against branches, Lu Xingxing stepped on the dead leaves and walked to An Nanyuan's side. He also looked to the side vigilantly: "The thing that scared Bai Shuang appeared here?"
"It seems like there is nothing." Lu Xingxing muttered in confusion: "Did he run away?"
"It shouldn't be." An Nanyuan frowned and said, "I came here after Bai Shuang was frightened, but I didn't see anything."
The two men searched a small area nearby for a while but found nothing, so they gave up and bent down together to crawl under the branches.
Behind the two men, the swaying leaves were stained with black and red blood.
A bit of meat stuck to the corner of An Nanyuan's clothes when he bent over.
Facing the guests' nervous and worried gazes, the two just shook their heads: "We found nothing."
"It looks like there is nothing there. Is Bai Shuang seeing things wrong?"
The variety show star turned his eyes to Bai Shuang. She gradually calmed down with the comfort of everyone, and her tense facial muscles slowly relaxed.
"I saw it. A deer."
Bai Shuang's face was pale, and when he spoke hesitantly, his voice was trembling: "A deer without antlers. Its body was covered in blood, as if it had been eaten by something. I even saw its ribs... It just stood there and looked at me. That look was so scary that it made me feel like I was a piece of meat that was about to rot."
Bai Shuang's words made the guests look at each other in confusion, and they all saw the confusion on each other's faces.
"Deer? Are there deer on this mountain? I haven't heard Yang Tu mention them." Zhao Zhen was a little surprised: "Could it be that Bai Shuang saw it wrong, and it's actually a wild dog or something?"
After all, Bai Shuang has been living in the city, and his ability to distinguish between animals and plants is weaker. If he was frightened, it is possible that he mistook an animal for another similar species.
"That's not right." An Nanyuan questioned, grasping the key point in Bai Shuang's words: "If it is really as Bai Shuang said, the deer or other animals should be dead. After all, even the ribs are exposed. I have never seen an animal that can still survive with such injuries."
"But if that's the case, then why can animals still walk? And can they look people in the eye?"
Everyone shook their heads and said they couldn't explain it.
Only Lu Xingxing frowned, but after seeing the split screens on the guests' shoulders, he swallowed back the words he was about to say.
Because his master, Taoist Song Yi, had given him a lecture, telling him not to show off his strength in front of the camera, not to use the name of Haiyun Temple, and to consider the impact. So Lu Xingxing didn't dare to say anything in front of the camera.
After all, he had just said the wrong thing and Yan Shixun found out about it and made fun of him, making him want to cry.
Lu Xingxing has a long memory. He had no scruples about what he said, because it was his first time participating in this kind of live broadcast program. As he was walking, he always forgot that he was still in the live broadcast, so he always spoke according to his usual habits.
But after knowing that his master was watching the live broadcast and Yan Shixun could also see his performance, he restrained himself. He thought twice before saying anything and would never give Yan Shixun any chance to talk back.
Can……
Lu Xingxing's face, which always seemed to be indifferent to everything, became serious for a rare time. While the guests gathered around Bai Shuang and whispered to comfort her, he kept turning his head to look at the place behind him that he had just explored but found nothing.
He now wished Yan Shixun or his master was around.
The cultivation of Taoism places great emphasis on innate spirituality and acquired cultivation. Lu Xingxing happened to be just about good at both.
Because he was not well-trained, Lu Xingxing could only vaguely feel from Bai Shuang's description that it was something that his uncle had once taught him.
Rigor mortis.
Animals are not like humans, who can be found and properly handled after they die. Many animals that die in remote places like the mountains will not be found for a long time after they die. Their bodies will be exposed to the sun and moon, gathering negative energy for a long time.
If the location of the animal corpse happens to be in a place with special terrain or heavy yin energy, the corpse will gather a large amount of yin energy and thus rise from the dead.
Just as living people need Yang Qi and cars need power, for corpses, Yin Qi is the energy and power for their movement. As long as there is enough Yin Qi and the terrain is special so that there are no Yin messengers to take away their souls, their souls will return to the corpse and drive the corpse to move.
Until the Yin energy is exhausted, or the soul is taken away by the Yin messenger, or is killed by a passing exorcist.
It's called rigor mortis.
Many Taoist priests in Haiyun Temple had encountered rigor mortis when walking in the mountains, so they wrote down the characteristics and coping methods of rigor mortis in their respective notebooks for future generations to read and refer to.
Lu Xingxing is now like a student sitting in an examination room. He feels that the questions on the test paper look familiar, but he can’t remember the answers that the teacher explained no matter how hard he racks his brains.
He could only vaguely remember that a few years ago, when his master was talking about rigor mortis, he seemed to be listening to the latest singles on the charts. While imagining the cool scene of opening his own studio and making music in the future, he felt that his master's lectures were too boring.
He had completely forgotten the characteristics of rigor mortis, he only remembered that his uncle-master had said in all seriousness that if one encountered rigor mortis, one should run away if possible, and unless one was experienced, one should not even think about showing off.
Because rigor mortis is the product of the accumulation of Yin energy, which is equivalent to the mortal enemy of the living. Once rigor mortis approaches, unless you are a Taoist priest who can ask the true god to lend you power to protect you, you will inevitably lose a lot of your Yang energy. And most importantly, the reason why rigor mortis forms -
There is a lot of Yin energy nearby.
That means there are more bodies that have not been discovered nearby, and even the terrain is completely unfavorable for living people.
If there are other souls among those corpses that have not left, it will be a double whammy for the Taoist priests and they will see no hope of victory.
By then, the best option is to run away.
Lu Xingxing glanced at that place repeatedly, trying hard to dig out from his mind the characteristics of rigor mortis that he had heard of that year, wanting to know whether what Bai Shuang saw was rigor mortis.
However, he failed.
His mind was empty and a new, marketable sound emerged.
Lu Xingxing: ...
I regretted not having learned enough when I needed it. The master was right! He was regretting now, regretting very much that he had not listened carefully before.
"But, maybe I saw it wrong." Bai Shuang forced a smile, but he looked in a very bad state.
The others were also a little worried when they saw this, so they quickly took the tools from Bai Shuang and helped her sit on a big rock nearby, letting her rest for a while.
"It's okay, Bai Shuang, don't worry about it." The variety show star consoled her, handed over a bottle of water they brought with them, and said, "You were too nervous today, so you misread things. Take it easy. We'll go down the mountain after we pack the firewood and other ingredients."
Bai Shuang nodded and took the water from the variety show host in a daze.
Because of Bai Shuang's matter, the guests, who were already in a hurry, worked even faster and finished the work in much less time than previously estimated. Everyone's backpack was filled with firewood and food.
The guests were all nervous and uneasy because of what Bai Shuang said.
Although they didn't see it and all agreed that Bai Shuang had seen it wrong, after all, the production team had been in danger several times before, and there were also hanged bodies seen on the mountain. Moreover, Yan Shixun, whom they regarded as a backer, also told them to try to come back before dusk and never stay outside after dark.
So the guests were like frightened birds. Looking at the surrounding woods, they felt that everything was strange and dangerous. Even the rustling sound of wind blowing through the leaves could scare them, as if they were seeing enemies everywhere.
When they finally straightened up, everyone breathed a sigh of relief, feeling that they could finally go down the mountain.
The audience watching in front of their split screens were also very nervous, wishing they could go through the screen to help them with their work so that they could finish their work earlier and go down the mountain earlier.
When the audience saw the guests finally able to go down the mountain, they all breathed a sigh of relief.
Many people fell backwards and slumped in their chairs, feeling as if they had just played a fast-paced escape game. The adrenaline surged, and then a deeper fatigue came over them, making them not want to move at all.
Some audience members could even hear their own heartbeats beating violently in their chests, so intense that they were afraid their hearts would jump out of their throats.
[Oh my god, we can finally get down the mountain. If it's any later, I'm worried that I might cry out of fear. This is too torturous. There's no telling what it is, and we don't know where it is. We just think we saw it wrong, but we don't know if we saw it wrong or not. We can only wait anxiously for that thing to appear and attack them, or if it's just an illusion. I was never this nervous when I gave a speech! Is there any danger? Can you give me a quick death? The sooner I die, the sooner I'll be reborn!]
[Fuck! Cover your mouth like crazy! Can you speak? What do you mean by early death and early reincarnation? Have you not watched the previous episodes of the show? In this show, I dare not post a comment or comment with the word "death" in it, for fear that I will hit the mark. It's okay for you to say this normally, but this show is really dangerous!]
[I really regretted listening to Brother Goose and watching this show while eating. I just drank too much water and now I want to go to the bathroom, but I dare not leave the screen. I have to watch them go down the mountain to feel at ease. Now I am sitting outside the restaurant, shaking my legs like crazy and holding my urine. The boss looks at me with a strange expression. Damn it, how am I going to get home later? I have to walk through a small forest from the restaurant to my home. I am a little afraid to walk now.]
[Stop complaining about the above, you are already doing well. I live alone, and I am so nervous at home now. I can’t even go to the bathroom. I got up to go out, but now I have to throw out the quilt and hide myself in the bed. I even press the quilt under my feet tightly, not letting any wind out. My god, when Xingxing and the others were working just now, I really didn’t dare to breathe, I almost vomited.]
[I just took a screenshot of Bai Shuang's split screen! But the video platform won't let me post it. Bai Shuang's camera just focused on the edge, which is where An Nanyuan and the others were looking. I can testify that Bai Shuang was not mistaken! There really was something there!]
[Fuck, is this true? My mom and I just watched a live broadcast together. When I bent down to get some water, my mom was frightened by the live broadcast. She said she saw a mountain deer, and it was bleeding. She was so scared that she scattered the popcorn all over the floor. I was sweeping the floor miserably, and I complained that she just couldn't hold it because her hands were shaking, and she made up an excuse to make me do the work. So what my mom said was true! ]
[But why is Bai Shuang so scared? She is not a timid person. I have seen the detective mystery variety show she was on before. She was not scared by the puppets and other things in it. Why is she so scared this time? And she is so unlucky today. First, she was scolded by several people, and then she was scared. Oh, why don’t I just go to Brother Yan to buy an exorcism talisman? I can’t find a place to buy it. It just so happens that Bai Shuang is so close to Brother Yan, it will be very convenient.]
[I think it’s not Bai Shuang’s bad luck, it’s the atmosphere of this village. Didn’t you see that those who scolded Bai Shuang before were all villagers? Damn, when I saw it, my fists were hard and I almost smashed my phone. What the hell, it’s so infuriating. It’s even more annoying than the dean of studies. Isn’t it just that the skirt is above the knees? What’s wrong, is there a problem? I didn’t use his money to buy clothes, is he sick?]
[I originally thought that flies don't bite eggs without cracks, but the villagers just now really made me frown, and for the first time I realized that it seems that it is not true that if you do nothing wrong, you will not be criticized by others. There is nothing wrong with what Bai Shuang is wearing, and what she is wearing is a hiking suit from a sports brand. It is not a skirt, but a skirt-pants, which is very convenient for movement and does not reveal anything. It can be called conservative in the entertainment industry.
But even with this set of clothes, they still criticized me, and even made me look wrong? I was really shocked. In this day and age, how can people still have such a concept? ]
[Maybe it’s because we live in a remote area. We can watch live broadcasts on our mobile phones, so our lives are much happier than many people. There are still many people who have developed much slower than us because of inconvenient transportation or geographical isolation. Sometimes I really feel sorry for them, but when I see their faces, I think they are too hateful.]
[Is this the Xiangnan area? Oh, that's normal. The clan system is very strong here. Many families don't even know the emperor but only the clan leader. If you tell them that this is illegal, they will scold you for being disrespectful to your elders.
Personal experience, my wife's family is from the south. When she was in college, her father called her and lied to her that her mother was seriously ill and asked her to go home. She panicked and went back. Fortunately, I was careful and went back with her. As a result, her mother was not sick at all! Her father wanted to sell her in order to trick her back! It was called a betrothal gift, but in fact, it was just selling money for her father. He wanted to sell her to a fool in the mountains because the other party offered more!
I immediately grabbed my wife and ran away, and called the school and my family. My dad brought several of my cousins to pick us up, and my wife's father stopped chasing us. Later, my wife broke off relations with her family, and we got married after graduation and never went back. ]
[Shocked, there is such a thing? It's a bit too much. When I watched the live broadcast yesterday, it seemed that the village party secretary said that this village is a clan system, and many things are decided by the clan leader. Could this kind of thing also happen in this village? ]
[It's hard to say. Alas, I have a psychological shadow on Xiangnan District. If it is not necessary for work, I will never set foot in Xiangnan District. An intern I used to lead said that there are five girls in her family, and only the youngest one is a brother. Her mother died after giving birth to her brother, and she relies on her father to make money.
In order to support her brother, all five sisters dropped out of school. Only she was unwilling to give up because of her good grades, so she secretly listened to the classes of the neighboring school while doing odd jobs. She also met a good teacher who was willing to take care of her and teach her some things, so she was able to pass the exam. The girl is very pretty and hardworking, and she cherishes the job opportunity very much.
Then one day she didn't come to work, and I went to ask her, and I found out that she was sold by her father to a dead man for a ghost marriage. When I found her, she was already dead, and I was completely limp on the spot. If my colleague hadn't helped me, I wouldn't have been able to get up.
Our company helped her report the case, but later on, because there was no evidence, her family members did not support her and instead said we were bad people, so we could not investigate and the case was left unresolved. Since then, I really don’t dare to go to the Xiangnan area. ]
[I'm confused. I'm from Xiangnan, how come I haven't heard of it? You know that spreading rumors is illegal, right? You have to be responsible for what you say. My parents and elders have been very kind to me since I was a child, and I have never seen what you are talking about. My goodness, if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I would have thought you were describing hell.]
[The one in front, you are a boy, right? If you are a boy, of course you have not seen this, because these are all the sufferings and struggles of girls. Your parents and elders treat you well because you are a boy, and you are happy because your sisters are crying. Since you are a vested interest in the clan system, you are not qualified to comment on its good or bad.]
[That person seems to be silent? Feeling guilty? Haha, I am also from Xiangnan. If my mother hadn't been more careful, I would be dead now. We have always had the custom of ghost marriages. If a son dies and is not married, the elders of the family will arrange a marriage for him and find a young and beautiful girl to be married to the dead son. And after the ghost matchmaker, that is, the middleman, chooses the girl, she is killed and sold immediately, worse than a pig.
I have experienced this. My grandma sold me. During those two days, my family treated me very well and bought me new clothes. Before that, I could only have one new piece of clothing during the Chinese New Year. My mom felt that it was wrong and took my luggage and ran away in a black car overnight. My grandma even called my mom and scolded her. My mom was also very angry and said that if she wanted to sell me, she should sell her son to a ghost marriage. I really hated my grandma, my dad, and this custom. ]
[It’s a pretty good story, but it doesn’t make any sense. How is that possible? This is too fake. They killed and sold the victim right away. Do you think the authorities are just a decoration? Are you not going to report it to the police?]
[Before... Alas, you haven't experienced it, so you don't know. In some places, clans are really more important than the law. My neighbor is an old policeman. When he was young, he went to the southern region because of a cross-provincial kidnapping case. But because the girl was not rescued and there was no follow-up, he resigned in anger. It has been decades now, and he has not married. He has been running around for this matter, but there has been no result. Every time I see the wrinkles on his face, I feel distressed, but I really can't help. I can only bring him more of the delicious dishes when I cook at home. ]
[Brother in front, send me the payment code. I lack everything except money. I must support good people like the old policeman!]
[I was shocked. I went to the comments section to find people who shared the same feelings. The way the brother rushed over to investigate was so handsome. I didn’t expect to see so many heavy comments. I was a little afraid to speak.]
"Let's go, Bai Shuang, let's go down the mountain."
After his heartbeat gradually calmed down, An Nanyuan smiled and went to Bai Shuang, looking much more relaxed than before: "When we go to Moon Creek to catch fish, it will be only a few dozen meters away from the farmhouse, right at the doorstep. It will be much safer than on the mountain, don't be afraid."
"Besides, we have Brother Yan at home, so what are you afraid of?" An Nanyuan smiled cheerfully and comforted Bai Shuang, "If anything really happens, just shout and Brother Yan will come out to help us."
Mentioning Yan Shixun's name really made Bai Shuang feel a lot more at ease.
She raised her hand and touched the wreath on the top of her head. She could feel the soft petals and the fragrance of the plants made her feel calm.
The wreath given to her by Yan Shixun was more useful than any consolation. She started to smile again and went down the mountain with everyone else.
As the only one among the guests who had experience in catching ghosts, Lu Xingxing consciously walked at the back and looked around vigilantly to prevent anything from suddenly jumping out.
Fortunately, after being teased by Yan Shixun, Lu Xingxing had learned his lesson. In order to avoid being scolded by his master, he took out his cell phone, took two photos of the place that made him feel wrong, and then sent them to Yan Shixun and Taoist Song Yi.
Lu Xingxing: What's wrong with poor grades? Are you afraid of having help in the exam? They are two people who are better than him.
After sending the message, Lu Xingxing quickened his pace at An Nanyuan's call and caught up with the team that had already walked some distance.
He turned off the screen of his phone and put it back in his pocket.
But the message that was sent kept spinning in circles, and the cell phone signal bars turned gray one by one.
Finally, the chat interface only had a few big red exclamation marks.
There was a very slight noise in the woods, the sound of a dead leaf being crushed a little.
Behind the tangled branches, an animal that looked like a deer appeared between the gaps between the layers of leaves. Through the unobstructed space, it looked behind the people who had already walked down the mountain. Its cloudy, gray eyes were completely black and dead, without a single bit of light.
Its entire abdominal cavity was opened, and it was empty, without any internal organs. Only a small piece of intestine that was not completely cut off hung out from it, swinging on its white ribs as it walked.
Its long-stiffened muscles made its walking posture extremely strange, its limbs were stiff and it had great difficulty bending them, and its rough fur was covered with large patches of reddish-brown blood, making it messy and hard.
It kept watching the guests' backs with its cloudy eyes until the layers of branches completely covered their whereabouts...
After the guests went up the mountain, Yan Shixun, who did not go with them, saw that he could not get more information from Yang Tu and Yang Yun, so he left the farmhouse alone and walked towards the village.
Yan Shixun had just been pulled by the village party secretary of Jia Village to walk through Jia Village, so when he stepped onto the dirt road leading to the village, he discovered the difference in development between the two villages.
On one side are newly built multi-story buildings. Every family's yard is tidied up nicely. Even the roads in the village have been re-paved with cement and street lights have been hung, making it look like the people are living a prosperous life.
On one side, there are dirt roads everywhere, and the village houses on both sides are mostly dilapidated. They have been in disrepair for many years and have even become dangerous houses. The tiles are rotten and look very poor.
What's more, what made Yan Shixun most uncomfortable were the villagers he saw.
When he arrived in Jia Village, it was already late and he didn't see more villagers.
However, the children of the village party secretary are all raised to be warm and cheerful. Young men with younger sisters are proud when they talk about their younger sisters. They like and protect the female members of their family. The village party secretary also respects his wife, and so do his children. It can be seen that she has a high status in the family.
Moreover, when the program crew left Jiacun this morning, they also saw a few Jiacun villagers who got up early to work.
Yan Shixun noticed that they all looked very energetic, with smiles on their faces, and were warm to outsiders. It seemed that they were living a good life and were in tune with the outside world.
But this is not the case in Jiazifen Village.
Because he didn't need to rush, Yan Shixun walked very slowly. But even on this stretch of road, the villagers he saw all had their eyes drooped and their mouths turned down, looking unhappy and vicious.
The clothes worn by the villagers had faded from washing and were covered with dust, looking very worn out. Moreover, they looked at Yan Shixun with extremely unfriendly eyes, showing resistance and disdain for outsiders, as if they were mocking Yan Shixun for not knowing the rules and having no clan.
But no one dared to step forward and scold Yan Shixun like they scolded Bai Shuang, or to attack him.
Yan Shixun was wearing a slim-fitting black shirt, and the tight-fitting shirt perfectly accentuated his strong arm lines. One could tell at a glance that he was a man who exercised regularly and was very strong.
When he walked, his lower body was extremely stable, his long and firm legs took slow steps, and he wore Martin boots on his feet, which made him look very tough.
When he looked at the villager calmly with his sharp eyes, the villager shrank his head and walked quickly past, not intending to get into trouble.
Yan Shixun looked at these villagers who were completely different from what the guests had described, and a sneer of contempt emanated from his throat.
Bully the weak and fear the strong, huh.
I don’t know if it was because it was afternoon, but the whole village was so quiet, as if everyone in every household was taking a nap.
But Yan Shixun walked a little further, and as he gradually walked from the end of the village near Moon Creek to the other side, sounds of laughter and suona faintly reached his ears from a distance.
The suona sound was shrill and high-pitched, piercing the sky, as if to pierce through the false old dreams of the entire village.
Yan Shixun walked in the direction of the sound, and after turning a few corners, he saw the house where the sound came from.
Many villagers were standing on the narrow village road outside that house, looking inside with smiles on their faces.
There were also some mothers-in-law and daughters-in-law from the village standing by the gate and in the yard, wearing neat new clothes, which were obviously the kind of clothes they would wear on important occasions.
Their faces were filled with joy. They clapped their hands and sang and drank loudly in the yard. They looked very happy, as if they were celebrating something good together.
Yan Shixun did not get too close, but stood in a corner not far from the house, at an angle that was not easily noticed, observing this joyous celebration coldly.
That family's house has been there for many years. It looks no different from the old house that Yang Yun has kept, and is consistent with the surrounding village houses.
On the brick walls that were badly worn and had turned ugly black from long periods of wind and rain, there were some cheap-looking red cloth strips hanging. There were burrs around the edges of the cloth strips and the edges had not been sewn.
There were also several plastic cut-out "囍" characters pasted crookedly on the wall, but they were not very securely pasted and some had half fallen off, but no one noticed.
Or there is no need to pay attention.
From Yan Shixun's angle, he could vaguely see some daily necessities tied with red cloth strips piled up in the yard. There was also a big red cloth ball tied on the lintel of the house. The cheap red cloth was shockingly red, like a pool of blood, submerging the entire small yard.
It looks like they are preparing for a wedding.
The villagers would come to congratulate the family whose wedding was taking place, and the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law would also come to help, running errands for the new bride.
Just as Yan Shixun narrowed his eyes and wanted to take a step forward to take a closer look at the things in the yard and the protagonist of the happy event, the villagers standing on the village road seemed to notice something.
Suddenly, the laughter disappeared, and the smiling face a moment ago turned into a cold and fierce look.
The villagers all turned their heads and looked towards where Yan Shixun was standing.
In the suddenly quiet scene, only the festive sound of suona was still playing lonely.
But there was no longer any lively atmosphere, only a creepy chill.
Before Yan Shixun could react, he suddenly felt a huge pulling force coming from behind. Someone grabbed his shirt at the back of his waist and pulled him back to the corner.
Yan Shixun disappeared from the villagers' sight.
The villagers gathered in front of the door of a house with a wedding character and red cloth on it, looked around in confusion, then turned their heads to look back at the yard, and smiles appeared on their faces again.
The cheers and laughter from just now rang out again, echoing the sounds of suona, gongs and drums, and it sounded very lively.
Yan Shixun moved his ears and noticed that the movement outside the corner where he was hiding had returned to normal. He breathed a sigh of relief and turned to look back.
Then, he was unexpectedly met with a bright and brilliant smile.
"Oh, it's you, Yan Shixun."
The girl's slender figure leaned forward slightly, her skirt fluttering in the air, revealing a pair of slender white legs.
She was very close to Yan Shixun, with a bright smile on her pretty face, not covered by the slightest bit of gloom: "I'm really surprised that we meet again."
Yan Shixun raised his eyebrows and recognized the face.
It was the girl who was picking flowers at the entrance of the farm house at noon. She introduced herself as Jiang Yanran.
"Eh? Did I remember it wrong?" Jiang Yanran tilted her head, nodded her lips with a smile, and asked with a smile: "Did I forget to tell you not to go out if you hear any noise? Good man Yan Shixun, why are you here, shouldn't you be with Yang Yun?"
What's wrong with this girl...
Yan Shixun felt something was wrong, but he didn't show it on his face. He just smiled and thanked Jiang Yanran, then pointed to the corner and asked, "I was a little bored staying at the farmhouse, so I came out to relax. I didn't expect to get lost and walked here. What's going on? It looks like it's very lively."
The smile on Jiang Yanran's face faded a little, and she scanned Yan Shixun with her bright and beautiful eyes, as if judging whether there was truth in his words.
“Why are people always curious?”
The girl sighed in distress, but soon smiled again: "They are preparing for the wedding tonight. It's very lively, isn't it? The bride will definitely be very happy."
"When the sun sets and the moon rises, it is the evening ceremony."
"It's a good home, the bride is crying, the red candles are lit high, the suona and gongs and drums are playing——"
"When sending off a new bride, I only wish for a large family with many children and grandchildren."
Jiang Yanran's voice was very soft, carrying the coolness of the autumn forest.
Yan Shixun stared at the girl in front of him silently. He felt that the bright smile on her face was so glaring and shocking in such a scene.
"Are you curious?"
Jiang Yanran smiled and stretched out her hand to Yan Shixun: "I'll take you there."
