Chapter 284: Signing a Contract to Sell Yourself
Grandma Sun used her fingers to touch Erbao's mouth all over, and then she put her hand into Erbao's clothes.
Erbao was so scared that he hid back, "What are you going to do?"
"What are you doing? I'm checking you out. Take off your clothes quickly."
When Erbao heard that he was asked to take off his clothes, he immediately took a few steps back and approached Old Man Chen. "Grandpa, didn't you say that I can go home after you check my teeth? Let's go home. I don't like it here."
Old man Chen felt both distressed and sad. How could such an obedient and good child be sold at will? Isn't this a sin?
Over the years, in order to support the third son's studies, the family's life has become worse and worse, and now they have even reached the point where they have to secretly sell their grandson.
If he had been tougher when he sold the girl from his eldest son's family, he wouldn't be so at odds with the first wife now. Now he can only watch helplessly as the first wife's life gets better and better.
Now the old woman wants to sell the second son's child. Although he knows that the consequences of doing so may be the same as those of the eldest son's family, he is afraid of his wife and dares not speak out.
He sighed helplessly, turned around and wiped away his tears.
Seeing that Old Man Chen ignored him, Erbao quickly grabbed Old Lady Chen's arm and pleaded, "Good grandma, please take Erbao away quickly. I want to go home."
"Erbao, take off your clothes and let grandma see you. Hurry up, or grandma won't like you anymore." Grandma Chen coaxed and threatened Erbao and brought him to Grandma Sun.
Grandma Sun rubbed and pinched it with her rough hands, checked it from front to back, and nodded with satisfaction.
"Not bad, all right ribs, no tuberculosis."
Old Mrs. Chen echoed, "Don't worry, Grandma Sun. This child was born strong and healthy, and has never had any major illness."
"Okay, that's good."
"Can we sign the paperwork now?"
"Don't worry, you still have to go through the necessary procedures. If I'm really careless and you just walk away, I'll be out of money."
"Okay, then please hurry up, we still have things to do!"
"Lift your feet up." Grandma Sun kicked Erbao's ankle.
Erbao stepped back in pain.
Old Mrs. Chen looked anxious. She was afraid that something unexpected would happen. If her second son really found out and chased her here, all her efforts would be in vain. As long as she signed and sealed the matter and took the silver, everything would be fine.
She hurried forward and picked up Erbao, and lifted his feet as she spoke, "Hurry up, Erbao, as soon as the examination is finished, grandma will take you home."
Grandma Sun checked it over and over again, then asked Erbao some simple questions, and then nodded with satisfaction.
"Okay, the child is really good, let's do as we agreed before."
Upon hearing this, Old Lady Chen finally breathed a sigh of relief, "Okay, then shall we..."
Grandma Sun knew what she meant and smiled. "Don't worry, take the child with you and follow me. There's only one last step left. As long as the inspection passes, we can sign the contract."
After she finished speaking, she stood up and led a few people to another room. She ordered the two big men guarding the door, "You two take this child in, strip him naked and examine him thoroughly."
Old man Chen stretched his neck to look inside, and his scalp suddenly went numb.
I saw more than a dozen children huddled in the corner, shivering. Some of them were covered in wounds. It was obvious that they were beaten by cruel human traffickers.
Erbao was so frightened when he saw this that he just hid back and said, "Grandma, I want to go home. I don't want to go in."
"Good grandson, don't be afraid. Go in first, and grandma will come to pick you up later."
"No, I won't go in." Erbao turned around and wanted to run away.
Grandma Sun grabbed the back of his neck and winked at the two big men.
The two big men immediately threw Erbao into the house like a chicken.
Erbao realized the danger, stood up and backed away, shouting, "Grandpa, save me, Grandma, save me, I want to go home."
One of the big men raised his hand and slapped Erbao in the face, cursing fiercely, "You little bastard, if you dare to disobey me again, I will beat you to death."
After saying that, he rudely stripped off Erbao's clothes, spread his legs and began to examine him.
Erbao's eyes were filled with fear. He struggled desperately, crying and shouting for help, "You big bad guys, let me go quickly, Grandpa, Grandma, come and save me!"
"Behave yourself, little brat! Your family doesn't want you anymore. It won't help even if you scream your lungs out."
"Impossible, you big liar, my grandparents can't possibly abandon me, they just bought me candied haws, let me go quickly, I want to go home."
"Go home. Once you come here, don't even think about leaving. This will be your home from now on."
Erbao dug and kicked with his hands in fear, trying to break free from the restraints, but he was too weak.
After checking, a big man shouted to Grandma Sun outside the door, "Everything is normal."
At this moment, Old Man Chen listened to Erbao's cries, and his heart was broken. "Old woman, I beg you, please don't buy Erbao, okay?"
Old Mrs. Chen was also feeling unhappy, but if she really regretted it, wouldn't all her efforts be wasted?
As the saying goes, being soft-hearted will not accomplish anything, and being too soft-hearted will lead to mistakes.
For the bright future of the third son, he had to give up his grandson.
She shouted angrily, "Shut your stinky mouth. You're still regretting it now. Go away now."
Old man Chen knew that he would be scolded if he spoke too much, so he lowered his head and said nothing more.
Mrs. Sun locked the door and said, "Come on, follow me to the front to sign the contract of sale."
"Okay, then let's hurry up!" Old Mrs. Chen couldn't bear to listen to Erbao's cry for help anymore, so she turned around and left quickly.
Arriving at the front hall, Grandma Sun handed the indenture that had been signed long ago to Old Lady Chen, "Eighty taels of silver, a death contract, please put your fingerprints on it."
When Old Lady Chen heard this, her mouth opened wide, a look of disbelief on her face. "That's not right, Grandma Sun, we agreed on a hundred taels of silver at the beginning, how come it's only eighty taels now?"
"Yeah, why did they change their mind about the agreed price?" Old man Chen also echoed dissatisfiedly.
Mrs. Sun straightened her sleeves. Having been a matchmaker for most of her life, she was the smartest of the smart.
She knew that most of the people who came here were in urgent need of money, so she gave them the least possible. Only in this way could she make more money.
She chuckled, "What are you two talking about? When did I ever set a firm price for you?
As you saw just now, there are more than ten children in there, and their prices are no more than fifty taels.
Since you two are older, I gave you a few dozen taels of silver.
If you think it's appropriate, just put your fingerprints on it and the deal will be done.
If you are not satisfied with the price, I, Grandma Sun, will not force you to pay. Just take the child and leave."
Old Lady Chen thought she could get one hundred taels of silver easily, but she didn't expect that Old Lady Sun would not keep her word.
I was so angry that I really wanted to have a good argument with her, but these people were cruel and ruthless, and I couldn't afford to offend them.
But she was unwilling to give up, as this meant she was short of twenty taels of silver, which was enough for the old couple to live a luxurious life for a year.
Thinking of this, she nodded, bowed, and smiled.
"Grandma Sun, we did agree on a hundred taels of silver. How can you give me twenty taels less? How about this: you give me ninety-eight taels, and I'll keep two taels for you to drink?"
