Chapter 192 Another letter arrived

Chapter 192 Another letter arrived

The Third Prince was delighted to hear this, but said sternly to him, "Quickly bring the letter over!"

The timid assassin slowly removed a pendant from his neck, then opened it and took out a letter. "Your Highness, would you like this?"

The Third Prince paused for a moment, then took the letter from his hand.

The assassins nearby were startled and yelled at the cowardly assassin, "You brat! Didn't we tell you to burn this letter? Why did you hide it?"

The cowardly assassin trembled and covered his head, saying, "My mother said that we are working for the Empress Dowager, and told me to keep the letter. Maybe I can save my life with this letter in the future."

The assassins cursed at him, saying, "You spineless coward!"

The Third Prince let them argue and slowly opened the letter to read it. The contents of the letter were exactly what the Dowager Consort had ordered him to assassinate the Empress on the way to exile.

He clutched the letter tightly in his hand, turned to look at the group of assassins in front of him, and said coldly, "Don't worry, none of you will die."

The cowardly assassin thought that the Third Prince meant he was going to let him go, so he quickly knelt down and said with a smile, "Thank you, Your Highness, thank you, Your Highness."

The Third Prince slowly squatted down, grabbed his collar, and said coldly, "I will bring you alive to the Emperor so that you can tell him in person what crimes you have committed."

The assassins were terrified, and some even tried to bite their tongues to commit suicide.

The Third Prince strode forward and grabbed him by the neck. "You think you can protect your family if you die? Let me tell you, the Empress Dowager can use your family to blackmail you, and I can use your family to blackmail you too. From now on, whoever dies, I will exterminate their entire family!"

The assassins were astonished.

One of the bolder ones stood up and laughed loudly, "Your Highness, do you think I'd believe you? You're just trying to use us! I'd rather die than go to the capital with you!"

The Third Prince slowly stood up and said coldly, "Even the Emperor might not know as much as I do about the families of the palace guards. Are you so sure I'm lying to you?"

The man's face was pale, and he paused slightly.

The Third Prince then addressed the other assassins, saying, "If even one of you dies, I will have your entire family executed!"

Everyone was shocked when they heard this.

The man who had just tried to commit suicide hadn't even realized what was happening when his hands were tied and his mouth gagged by his companion.

Upon seeing this, the Third Prince waved his hand and said to his entourage behind him, "Put all these people into the carriage!"

"Yes, Your Highness."

The attendants agreed and threw all the men into the carriage.

The Third Prince turned around and followed them into the carriage, and had the leader of the assassins write a letter and send it to the capital by carrier pigeon.

Two days later, the letter reached Consort Duan.

When Consort Duan saw the letter saying that the Empress had died, she breathed a sigh of relief and smiled broadly.

A palace maid beside her massaged her shoulders and asked, "Your Highness, is there good news?"

Consort Duan placed the letter on a candle and lit it. "There is good news. That woman is dead."

The palace maid frowned and asked doubtfully, "Is he really dead?"

Consort Duan laughed and said, "Those people, I have something on them, so they shouldn't be lying."

The palace maid whispered, "Your Highness, it's best to be careful. Look, they escaped last time, didn't they? This time, we must bring that woman's head back as well."

Consort Duan nodded and said, "You're right. I'll send them another secret letter right away."

The palace maid quickly brought over special paper and ink and handed them to Consort Duan.

Consort Duan wrote the letter with her left hand and then handed it to a palace maid.

The palace maid placed the letter on the carrier pigeon's ankle, then secretly went to a secluded spot with the pigeon in her arms and released it.

The carrier pigeon eventually ended up in the hands of the Third Prince.

The Third Prince took out the letter, opened it and saw that it was a blank sheet of paper. He put the paper over a fire and heated it, and soon the words written by Consort Duan appeared on it.

He was so angry that he almost flipped the lamp off the table.

A servant rushed over and asked, "Your Highness, what's wrong?"
