Chapter 222 The Wu Family is Haunted by Evil Spirits

Mrs. Wu looked at her daughter in shock. "You're asking me why I'm here? Shouldn't I be asking you why you're here? This is my room."

Miss Wu was startled upon hearing this and quickly looked around, only to find that it was still her mother's room.

"How did I get here?" Miss Wu looked around in confusion.

Only then did she realize that she was holding a bowl of almond milk.

Madam Wu sat up impatiently and asked her, "What are you holding in your hand?"

Miss Wu shook her head. "I don't know what it is either."

After she finished speaking, she took a few steps back and accidentally bumped into the table behind her. The things she was holding fell to the ground.

The white almond milk was all spilled on the ground.

"Oh dear! What's wrong with you, child?!" Madam Wu quickly took a few steps back, preparing to call the maid outside to wipe it.

Just then, the calico cat came over, lowered its head, smelled the almond milk on the ground, and licked it.

Then the calico cat kicked its hind legs, stuck out its tongue, and fell down.

Mrs. Wu turned around and happened to see it. "Oh! My cat!"

She quickly picked up the cat from the ground and found that it was no longer breathing.

Miss Wu stood there dumbfounded, "What... what's wrong with the cat?!"

Madam Wu stared at the almond milk on the ground, then suddenly looked up at Miss Wu, "This is poisoned, isn't it? You want to poison me in the middle of the night to kill me, don't you?!"

Miss Wu was shocked, her face turning ashen. She knelt down with a thud and cried out, "Mother, it wasn't me! How could I possibly poison you?!"

Madam Wu, her face cold, immediately stood up and called out, "Someone! Someone come quickly! Quickly call the master over!"

The maid outside, still half asleep, immediately set off to call for someone upon hearing Madam Wu's words.

Miss Wu knelt on the ground, her eyes glazed over, feeling as if it were all a dream.

Not long after, Master Wu arrived, and he also brought a doctor with him.

The doctor examined the almond juice on the ground and said, "Sir, Madam, this almond juice on the ground is indeed highly poisonous."

Madam Wu was trembling with anger. She pointed at Miss Wu and said fiercely, "You brat! I have always doted on you all these years. How could you treat your own mother like this!"

Master Wu glared angrily at Miss Wu, "Outrageous!"

Miss Wu looked aggrieved and cried as she said, "Father, Mother, I didn't do it, it really wasn't me."

Madam Wu pointed a trembling finger at her and snapped, "If it wasn't you, then who was it?!"

Miss Wu covered her face and shook her head frantically. "It wasn't me, Mother, it really wasn't me. I don't know what happened. I was clearly sleeping, but somehow when I opened my eyes I was in your room."

Madam Wu's eyes also welled up with tears. "You silly girl, you're still talking nonsense at a time like this."

Master Wu remained calm and did not rush to get angry.

Just then, the doctor who had spoken earlier suddenly walked over and said, "Master, Madam, Miss Six doesn't seem to be lying."

"Doesn't seem like a lie? Then where did this poisonous almond milk come from? If I hadn't woken up early, this stuff might have already been poured into my mouth!"

As Mrs. Wu spoke, tears streamed down her face, and she quickly took out a handkerchief to wipe the corners of her eyes.

The doctor glanced around and whispered, "Master, Madam, I think this sixth young lady might be possessed by an evil spirit."

"Possessed by an evil spirit?!" Madam Wu and Master Wu exclaimed in surprise.

The doctor nodded. "That's right. I see many patients every day, and I've encountered cases like Miss Liu."

"Possessed by evil spirits? How could someone be possessed by evil spirits out of the blue?" Madam Wu cried even harder.

Master Wu's expression was grave. He sighed deeply and said, "Doctor, do you know of any way to save him?"

The doctor looked at Miss Wu, whose face was dark, and sighed, "How could I, a doctor, possibly have any way to save her? I would prefer that you, Lord Wu, take Miss Wu to the temple to pray."

Mr. Wu and Mrs. Wu looked utterly disappointed.

The doctor looked up and glanced into the house again, saying, "I heard this house used to belong to the Lu family."

Mr. Wu paused, then said, "That's right, this area does indeed belong to the Lu family."

After the Lu family was executed, the Wu family took over the house and expanded it, making it twice as big as before.

Originally, Mr. Wu thought the house was unlucky and didn't want to live there, but later he heard that the house had good feng shui.

The Lu family produced an empress because of the feng shui of this place.

Mr. Wu decided to give it a try and moved his whole family over. He thought that Consort Wu would be made empress, but instead she was banished to the cold palace.

He nodded and said, "That's right."

The doctor frowned and lowered his voice to Master Wu, saying, "Master Wu, there are too many wronged spirits here. It's not surprising that evil spirits are causing trouble. You should take Miss Liu to eat vegetarian food and chant Buddhist prayers to ensure her safety."

Mr. Wu and Mrs. Wu's faces darkened, and a hint of coldness appeared in their eyes.

The doctor didn't say anything more and turned to leave.

After the doctor left, Miss Wu fainted from shock and exhaustion.

Master Wu immediately sent someone to take her back to her room.

Madam Wu looked at her daughter's raised figure and grabbed Mr. Wu's sleeve, saying, "Master, do you think what the doctor said just now is true?"
