Chapter 261 A Bountiful Harvest in the Orchard
The green vines wrapped around her legs, constricting them painfully.
Then they tied her legs, lifted her up, and slammed her heavily out of the village.
Zhu was thrown heavily onto the open ground outside the manor, and then fainted from fear.
The next day.
Du Wanchun brought people to the manor again.
When she and Zhang Qiuhe arrived at the door, they happened to find Zhu Shi unconscious.
Zhu's injuries were not serious; she had just fainted from fright.
Zhang Qiuhe recognized her, squatted down, looked up at Du Wanchun and said, "Wanchun, this looks like Aunt Zhu from Master Fang's mansion."
Du Wanchun took a closer look and realized it was indeed her.
Zhang Qiuhe asked in confusion, "Why would she be sleeping outside our manor gate when she was perfectly fine?"
After she finished speaking, she patted Zhu's face with her hand, "Aunt Zhu! Aunt Zhu!"
Upon hearing the voice, Zhu trembled violently. "Lord Ghost, please spare me! I'll never dare to do it again! I really won't dare to do it again!"
Zhang Qiuhe was completely confused. "What the hell, Aunt Zhu?"
Upon hearing the sound, Zhu slowly opened her eyes and looked at Zhang Qiuhe, only to realize that it was already dawn.
She quickly looked around and found herself outside the manor, completely bewildered. "What happened? How did I get here?"
Zhang Qiuhe stood up and asked, "I should be asking you that. What are you doing outside our village?"
Zhu didn't know what to say for a moment, and stammered, "I was just passing by, just passing by, and I accidentally tripped and fell, so I fell down in front of your village."
Zhang Qiuhe clearly didn't believe her. "Aunt Zhu, isn't your home in Cheng'an County? This place is in the opposite direction from Cheng'an County. How could you possibly have passed by here?"
Zhu paused for a moment, then explained, "I used to work in this estate. I heard that someone bought it, so I came here specifically to take a look."
As he spoke, he stood up and patted the dirt off his clothes. "Who knew that I would slip and fall when I got to the door? I don't know what happened until you all arrived and I realized it was already daylight."
Zhang Qiuhe looked at her with a mixture of belief and doubt.
Du Wanchun walked over and said bluntly, "Aunt Zhu, I just heard you shouting 'Master Ghost'? Could it be that you saw something you shouldn't have seen near this village?"
Upon hearing this, Zhu's face turned pale. After Du Wanchun's words came to her attention, she recalled what had happened the night before, and her body began to tremble involuntarily.
Du Wanchun said with a smile, "Our estate has been uninhabited for a long time. It has been vacant for so long that even we ourselves don't know what's inside. Aunt Zhu, since you're no longer working here, please don't come back. If anything happens, our Zhou family can't handle it."
Madam Zhu shuddered and quickly bowed her head, saying, "Yes, Madam Zhou."
She dared not linger there, and with heavy steps, she jogged away.
Seeing her retreating figure, Zhang Qiuhe asked suspiciously, "That Aunt Zhu is acting so suspiciously, I wonder what she's up to?!"
Du Wanchun led her into the house and said, "Don't worry about her, let's go inside the estate and take a look."
When the two arrived at the estate, they found that the gate to the front yard was open.
Zhang Qiuhe immediately understood, "It seems that Aunt Zhu wants to cause trouble here, but judging from her appearance, she must have been frightened by something."
Du Wanchun replied with a smile, "I guessed so."
Today, Zhou Ruiyuan has business at the yamen, Aunt Zhou is busy mixing incense, and the Third Prince is busy acquiring those plots of land in Changliu Village.
Du Wanchun then brought only Zhang Qiuhe with her.
With fewer people around, it was easier for her to get things done.
Zhang Qiuhe stayed in the house to help with cleaning and wiping.
Du Wanchun came to the field alone.
The fields haven't been cultivated yet, but they're much more comfortable after being cleared.
However, the fruit trees in the orchard grew very lushly.
When I came to check yesterday, many of them had no fruit, but today I found that there were fruits everywhere.
She quickly grabbed a basket to pick fruit.
In no time, they had picked three large baskets of fruit.
When Zhang Qiuhe came to see it, she was stunned. "Wow, Wanchun, I didn't expect the fruit trees in this manor to grow so well even though no one takes care of them."
Du Wanchun laughed and said, "Yes, but we can't possibly eat all these fruits."
Zhang Qiuhe walked over, picked up a fruit, and said with a smile, "Why don't we sell all these fruits?"
“Sold…” Du Wanchun listened, pondered for a moment, and then smiled, “How about we go to Master Fang’s residence again?”
Zhang Qiuhe nodded repeatedly, "Okay, I remember that Master Fang used to sell fruit."
After discussing it, the two quickly took some fruit, boarded a carriage, and arrived at Master Fang's residence in Cheng'an County.
