Chapter 27 The Stepmother's Bad Luck Begins
Liu threw the newborn baby aside, refusing to even glance at him.
Du Dajiang stood to the side, trembling with anger. "It's something that came out of your belly, so it's yours. Do you really want to throw it away?!"
Liu burst into tears, clutching the quilt. "The doctor clearly said it was a boy, how could it be a girl? Heaven must have made a mistake!"
Du Dajiang had only been so indulgent towards her because of the child in her womb, and now that the child had been born, it was a girl whom he had never liked.
He no longer showed Liu any mercy and said fiercely, "This child, take it or leave it. If you don't want to raise him, I'll send him to my older sister to raise!"
Liu looked up at the child with resentment and gritted her teeth, saying, "Take him away then!"
Du Dajiang got angry too, picked up the child, turned around and said, "Don't just lie in bed, get up and get to work!"
Liu was stunned. With red eyes, she looked at Du Dajiang and said, "You heartless bastard, didn't you see that I just gave birth? I haven't even finished my postpartum confinement."
Du Dajiang snorted coldly and said, "What's the point of a proper postpartum period if you're having a baby girl? Don't be lazy, it's time to harvest the vegetables in the field!"
"Du Dajiang! You weren't like this when you married me!" Liu shouted angrily at him.
Du Dajiang glared at her fiercely and said, "You were the one who insisted on me marrying you back then, and now you're looking down on me? Too late!"
After saying that, she kicked the door in front of her, picked up the child, and stormed out.
Du Dajiang's eldest sister is named Du Damei. She lives in Changliu Village and has been married for many years without having any children.
She had always taken good care of Du Wanchun. This time, when Du Wanchun got married, Du Dajiang deliberately didn't tell her, so as not to let her cause trouble.
Du Dajiang held the child, intending to take him to his older sister.
Lying on the bed, Liu was so angry that her face turned pale. She cursed at Du Dajiang, "Du Dajiang, you just wait and see how I deal with you in the future!"
Du Dajiang, tired of listening to her nagging, found an oxcart, picked up the newborn baby, and left.
Liu had just given birth and was lying alone in bed, feeling utterly helpless.
The midwife who was helping with the delivery couldn't stand it anymore and spoke up for her, saying, "Your husband is no human being. How could he abandon you, a woman in postpartum confinement, and just run away?"
Liu rolled her eyes at her and said, "Mind your own business! He's my man, not yours. Get out of here after you're done delivering the baby!"
The midwife, her face flushed with anger after being scolded, pointed at her and said, "I think you deserve it!"
"Get out of here!" Liu grabbed a pillow from the bed and threw it at her forcefully.
The midwife ignored her and ran away.
Liu snorted coldly and forced herself to get off the bed. "You, Du Dajiang, I can live just fine without you!"
After she finished speaking, she got up and prepared to go to the kitchen to boil some brown sugar water.
Whether it was bad luck or not, she almost tripped and fell as soon as she stepped out the door, then burned her finger while lighting a fire, and spilled brown sugar on the ground.
After all that, I didn't get to drink any brown sugar water, and the kitchen was a complete mess.
She was in terrible pain and had to go back to her room to rest, muttering to herself, "What terrible luck I've had!"
Ever since Du Wanchun got married, Liu has been experiencing a series of misfortunes. Today, she has suffered one bad luck after another. She thought it would only last a few days, but little did she know that this was just the beginning.
In Changliu Village, Du Wanchun and Zhou Ruiyuan rushed home before lunch.
When Aunt Zhou saw them return so early, she hurried forward and asked Du Wanchun, "What's wrong? Did your stepmother bully you again? She wouldn't even leave you a meal?"
Du Wanchun laughed and said, "It's not that she didn't want us to stay for dinner, it's that we didn't want to eat the food she made."
After saying that, she helped Zhou Ruiyuan sit down. He had forced himself to stand several times today, and Du Wanchun couldn't bear to let him stand any longer.
Aunt Zhou quickly turned around to bring in the food, and as she went, she reminded Du Wanchun, "Wanchun, don't be afraid of your vicious stepmother anymore. If she bullies you again, I'll beat her until she cries for her parents with that turd stick. And your father, he doesn't love you, but I do."
