Chapter 310 Chaos at Home

Chapter 310 Chaos at Home

"That rice is grown for the Zhou family. We grow our own rice, but we still have to sell it to the Zhou family. Who knows, we might starve and have to give the rice to the Zhou family."

The old lady of the Gao family raised an eyebrow.

Another villager said with a smile, "You don't know this, but Manager Du only takes 40% of our harvest every year. The rest is ours, and he even gives us a sum of money with that 40%."

"At that time, we will not only be able to eat our fill, but also have money to build houses and buy cloth and cotton."

"You can also buy piglets, chickens and ducks."

They were talking and laughing.

But the old lady of the Gao family didn't believe it and snorted coldly, "I'll just wait and see you all starve to death."

The villagers retorted, "Grandma Gao, you should worry about your own family first. You've even sold your land, so you don't have anywhere to farm anymore."

Hearing this, Old Mrs. Gao was so angry that her teeth chattered. She forced herself to suppress her anger and said, "So what if we don't have land? My family still raises three pigs and dozens of cattle and sheep!"

These pigs, cattle, and sheep were previously raised by the Miao family.

Upon hearing this, the villagers mocked, "Who doesn't know those were raised by your former daughter-in-law? She's not here now, I wonder if you could even support them."

Grandma Gao was so angry that she couldn't control herself anymore and was about to yell at them.

Seeing that things were not going well, the villagers stopped arguing with her and turned to leave.

Before Old Lady Gao could even utter a curse, those people had vanished.

She was holding her anger in, unable to vent it.

"A bunch of little bitches, let's see how good your lives can get. No matter how you compare, you can't compare to the Gao family!"

After finishing her sentence, Old Mrs. Gao stamped her foot and went back to her own yard.

Ever since Boss Gao was beaten up by the men sent by Master Qian, he has been bedridden.

It wasn't that I was really badly injured; it was just because I was lazy.

When Miao was alive, she would cook for them, mother and son, every day and then bring the food to their room.

All they have to do is eat and sleep, sleep and eat, and they don't have to do anything else.

Miao is not home now, so Gao Laoda will have to chop wood and cook for himself.

In order to avoid doing any work, he pretended to be sick in bed and had his elderly mother take care of him.

Grandma Gao was getting old, and she got tired after working for a while. She turned around and fed the cattle and sheep some vegetable leaves, then went inside to cook some thin rice porridge for Gao Laoda.

When Gao Laoda saw the thin rice porridge that his mother brought, he said with displeasure, "Mother, what have you made? There's not even a piece of meat."

Old Mrs. Gao said, "That Mr. Qian has robbed us of all the money in the house. Where would we get the money to eat meat?"

Boss Gao pointed to the backyard and said, "There are pigs raised in the backyard, so we can just slaughter them."

Grandma Gao's face hardened. "The pigs in the backyard are all piglets. How are we supposed to eat them?"

Upon hearing this, Boss Gao waved his hand and cursed, "That little bitch can't even raise a pig properly, she's still just a piglet."

Grandma Gao was so angry that she slapped him on the forehead. "This little piglet was caught before she left, it's not even fully grown yet!"

After hearing this, Gao Laoda calmed down and began to regret it, saying, "If I had known, I wouldn't have divorced her. Now there's no one to feed the pigs in this house."

Grandma Gao raised her hand and slapped him again. "So be it, you've divorced that woman. Stop thinking about her all the time. Get well soon and go find another wife to help you with the work!"

The eldest son scratched the back of his head and said, "Mother, where in our family do we have any money left to get a wife?"

Grandma Gao pointed to the backyard, "Aren't there still cattle and sheep? Selling those should get us some money."

The eldest son nodded in agreement, then his eyes darted around and he said with a smile, "Mother, why don't you kill that piglet and make soup for me?"

"You're eating the piglets too?" Grandma Gao asked in surprise.

Old Gao pulled his mother aside and said, "Isn't there a dish called roast suckling pig? Of course, piglets can eat it, but we don't roast it; we just stew it into soup."

Hearing this, Old Mrs. Gao frowned. "If you eat the piglets, what will we eat in the future?"
