Chapter 338 A Plan to Turn the Tide

Chapter 338 A Plan to Turn the Tide

Prince Rong interrupted sternly, "To avoid arousing suspicion, set Xiang'er's room on fire as well."

Xiang'er is his and Princess Rong's biological daughter.

The subordinate had followed Prince Rong for over ten years and had done all sorts of bad things. He was initially hesitant, but seeing how resolute Prince Rong was, he didn't ask any more questions. "Yes, Your Highness."

Inside the Rong Prince's residence, Princess Rong had always been fond of the Zhou family's anti-aging cream. Upon hearing that the Zhou family's manager had arrived, she immediately sent someone to host a banquet for her.

Lord Li was still distressed about being cuckolded, and coupled with his resentment towards Prince Rong, he stopped interfering with Du Wanchun and her group, turning a blind eye to their behavior.

Du Wanchun and Han Yan'er received the invitation, changed their clothes, and went to the Rong Prince's Mansion.

Meanwhile, Wei Xun continued to disguise himself as a servant and secretly searched for Zhou Feng at Lord Li's residence.

Although Princess Rong had a fiery temper, she was kind-hearted. She not only prepared a large table of food and wine at home, but also personally came to the door to greet Du Wanchun.

"Manager Du, you've arrived! Please come in." Princess Rong greeted them with a smile and sent three or four maids to lead the way into the mansion.

Du Wanchun walked beside Princess Rong, silently observing her.

Princess Rong is nearly forty years old, but her face shows no signs of aging, probably because she uses a lot of anti-aging creams.

Princess Rong took her hand and said, "Manager Du, what brings you to our Northern Di Kingdom?"

Du Wanchun replied with a smile, "I'd like to come to the Northern Di Kingdom to see if I can open a rouge shop in Yangcheng that's just like the ones in our Cheng'an County."

Princess Rong was overjoyed. "It would be wonderful if we could open a rouge shop in Yangcheng. I usually have to have my servants ride fast horses to Cheng'an County to buy it. Every time we go, we have to go through customs, which takes ten days to half a month, and it costs a lot of money."

Du Wanchun nodded. "That's right. If a rouge shop were opened here, it would be much more convenient for ladies to buy anti-aging creams."

Princess Rong was overjoyed and asked excitedly, "Manager Du, do you have any shops you'd like to consider?"

Du Wanchun pondered, "I haven't seen it yet. I just arrived at Lord Li's residence yesterday."

"Lord Li..." Princess Rong murmured to herself, and couldn't help but think of her goddaughter.

Her face darkened.

Du Wanchun stopped there and changed the subject, saying, "Why didn't I see Prince Rong today?"

Princess Rong quickly smiled and said, "His Highness has some business outside the city today."

Du Wanchun's gaze sharpened slightly upon hearing this. She glanced around and said, "That's a real pity."

"There will be other opportunities in the future. Manager Du, the food and wine are ready. Please come in and have a meal." Princess Rong welcomed her into the house.

After lunch, Princess Rong kept Du Wanchun to admire the flowers until night.

As night fell, Prince Rong waited for news from the manor.

At midnight, a fire suddenly broke out in the backyard of the Rong Prince's Mansion.

People inside the mansion fled in panic, shouting, "It's terrible! There's a fire!"

Then a group of servants carried wooden buckets to put out the fire.

However, the fire was so large that it was not completely extinguished until the next morning.

Prince Rong also received the news and rushed over after dawn.

Upon seeing him return, the steward of the Rong Prince's residence immediately ran over, weeping, "Your Highness, you're finally back! The Princess and Miss..."

Prince Rong immediately panicked, grabbed the steward's arm like a madman, and asked, "What's wrong with my wife?"

The butler, head bowed, face deathly pale, replied in a trembling voice, "The Princess and Miss's rooms were burned down...they..."

"Madam! Xiang'er!"

Before the steward could finish speaking, Prince Rong cried out in grief and rushed into the ruins that were still emitting black smoke.
