Chapter 360 A Husband Who Loves to Care

Chapter 360 A Husband Who Loves to Care

The Zhou family had been busy preparing for their children's birthdays for several days.

Every morning, Zhou Ruiyuan would go to the manor to cut down trees, using the best wood, to make some small gadgets for the three of them.

He would cut down trees in the morning, go to the county government office in the late morning, and then come back at night to sit alone in his room with his tools, pondering how to use them.

Seeing that he was still awake, Du Wanchun brought over a cup of tea from the kitchen. "Husband, go to sleep early."

Zhou Ruiyuan wiped the sweat from his forehead, handed a small doll to Du Wanchun, and said with a smile, "What do you think?"

Du Wanchun looked down and saw that the little doll was actually her own image. "What is this?"

Zhou Ruiyuan gently brushed away the wood shavings on the puppet and said softly, "I originally planned to make some puppets for the two children, but somehow, they ended up being carved in your likeness."

As he spoke, he slightly raised his eyes to look at her and smiled, "How about I make two dolls, one for you and one for me?"

Du Wanchun chuckled and said, "If Xiao Mianmian and the others knew that their father had been busy for so long making things for their mother, they would probably be heartbroken for days."

Zhou Ruiyuan lowered his head guiltily, bent down to pick up the other two pieces of wood, and said, "No rush, there are still a few days left. I should be able to carve a few more puppets."

Du Wanchun walked to his side, patted the sawdust off his clothes and said, "Husband, let me help you."

Zhou Ruiyuan held her slender, pale hand and gently kissed her fingertips. "I'll do these heavy chores."

Du Wanchun slightly withdrew her hand, her clear crescent-shaped eyes curving upwards, and smiled, "How about this, I'll paint, and you can carve, my husband?"

Upon hearing this, Zhou Ruiyuan thought for a moment and nodded slightly, "Alright."

Du Wanchun bent down and picked up some small pieces of wood, then picked up a pen and drew the human shape of a small wooden puppet on them.

The moon hung high outside the window, its silvery light shining in and illuminating Du Wanchun's face, making her skin appear as white as jade. A layer of white mist seemed to float on her pale green clothes, making her look like a fairy in a dream, somewhat unreal.

Zhou Ruiyuan was momentarily stunned. He couldn't help but reach out and gently touch a strand of long hair that fell down her temple.

He only snapped out of his daze as a strand of hair brushed against his fingertips.

Du Wanchun looked up and saw him lost in thought. She smiled and asked, "What's wrong, husband?"

Zhou Ruiyuan picked up a wood shaving from her hair and said slowly, "The wood shaving flew onto your head."

Du Wanchun quickly stood up and patted her head and shoulders.

Zhou Ruiyuan stared at her gentle yet playful face, lost in thought once again.

At this moment, he looked at his wife as if she were a rare treasure gleaming in the room.

I was afraid that if I touched her, she would disappear forever.

All I wanted was to hold her in my arms, cherish her tenderly, and not let anyone see.

Du Wanchun looked down at him, her small dimples showing. "Husband, I've finished drawing it. Take a look."

As she spoke, she handed him the wooden drawing she had made.

Zhou Ruiyuan snapped out of his daze, picked up the piece of wood, and saw that it resembled a little mianmian.

He smiled and said, "It's very well drawn."

Du Wanchun quickly brought him a carving knife, "Husband, you carve first, I'll go draw two more."

Zhou Ruiyuan held the wooden piece of wood, looking at her with doting eyes. His deep eyes no longer held the majesty he displayed in the courtroom during the day, but instead held the tenderness of a spring river.

"Okay, go ahead."

He responded gently, carefully carving the wood in his hands with a carving knife.

Du Wanchun turned around, picked up another piece of wood, and began to draw Yi'er's likeness.

Although Zhou Ruiyuan was carving wood, his eyes kept glancing at his wife.

It's often said that married couples grow tired of each other after a long time, but Zhou Ruiyuan and Du Wanchun are different; they grow to love each other more and more the more they look at each other.

Zhou Ruiyuan is also a skilled carpenter; he learned from the family's long-term laborer for a period of time and his craftsmanship is excellent.

Although he was completely focused on Du Wanchun, he still managed to finish carving the puppet.

With Du Wanchun's help, they carved the family's puppets in just one night.

In the end, only one piece of wood was left.

Zhou Ruiyuan took it in his hand and laughed, "I didn't expect there would be an extra piece."

Du Wanchun looked down at the small piece of wood in his hand, and after a long while, said, "Keep it; you might need it someday."

After hearing this, Zhou Ruiyuan nodded, took a strip of cloth, wrapped the piece of wood, and put it away.

As dawn approached, Du Wanchun tidied up the things in the house and headed out to return to her own courtyard. However, she hadn't taken more than two steps when she accidentally twisted her ankle.

Du Wanchun bent over, clutching her ankle, and frowned.

Zhou Ruiyuan quickly came over and asked, "Wanchun, what's wrong?"

Du Wanchun looked down at her ankle. "I twisted my ankle just now."

Zhou Ruiyuan's face immediately showed a look of anxiety. He reached out and picked her up by the waist, saying, "I'll take you to see a doctor."
