Chapter 380 The Scumbag is Almost Finished
The steward hesitated for a moment, "It seems I've never seen him come to the stables."
Master Liang frowned as he looked ahead. "Something's not right. Why did my horse get tampered with just today, the day he came to our mansion?"
"After thinking it over and over, it can only be him. Now that Rou'er is in trouble, he probably only wants to see me die."
The butler was startled. "Master, what should we do?"
After pondering for a moment, Master Liang said, "Let's leave the Zhou family's rice shop for now and tidy up the house first."
The head of the household breathed a sigh of relief; he really didn't want Master Liang to cause trouble for the Zhou family's rice shop.
Master Liang took two steps forward, then turned back and, on a sudden inspiration, said, "Do we have any unmarried young men in our household? Preferably handsome and capable."
The butler thought for a moment and said, "Yes, yes!"
Master Liang quickly asked, "Who?"
The butler replied, "That's my son."
Master Liang suddenly realized, "That's right, your son. I've watched your son grow up since he was a child. He just passed the imperial examination last year, right?"
The butler nodded.
Master Liang laughed, "Good, scholar, you are handsome and upright."
The butler sensed something was amiss. "Master, what are you thinking?"
Master Liang grabbed his shoulder and said, "I want to marry my daughter to your son."
The steward's expression changed. Everyone in the manor knew yesterday that Miss Liang would have difficulty conceiving again. Who would want their son to marry a woman who cannot have children?
Especially in traditional families like theirs, they are even more unwilling.
Master Liang knew what he was thinking, and patted him on the shoulder, saying, "Don't worry, our Liang family will not treat you unfairly. As long as your son marries my daughter, half of our Liang family will belong to you in the future."
He continued, "I don't object to your son taking a concubine, as long as the children born to the concubine are registered under my daughter's name, that's fine."
The butler was tempted upon hearing this; half of the Liang family's wealth was no small sum.
Moreover, Master Liang said that it's okay to take a concubine, and then find another woman to have children with.
Mr. Liang continued, "I only have one daughter. As long as your son treats our daughter well, I'm willing to accept any amount of money."
He said through gritted teeth and clenched his fists, "As long as it's not that guy surnamed You."
After careful consideration, the steward decided to go back and tell his son about it to see if his son was willing.
However, to the butler's surprise, his son had always been interested in Miss Liang and was very willing to marry her.
Not only that, he also said he would not take a concubine.
This infuriated the housekeeper.
His son, however, was quite perceptive: "Dad, aren't my eldest and second eldest brothers already married? We can just have one of their children adopted into our family."
The butler thought it made sense, since they were all his grandsons anyway.
The next morning, the steward told Master Liang about the matter.
Mr. Liang was overjoyed and immediately wrote a marriage certificate with the steward, and found a matchmaker to witness it.
Around noon, Manager You came again, saying he wanted to see Miss Liang.
Master Liang immediately sent someone to stop him at the door, saying, "You, you don't need to come here again."
Manager You was completely bewildered. "Sir, Rou'er is my betrothed. She's ill, how can I not come to see her?"
Master Liang said sternly, "Rou'er is no longer your betrothed. I have already found her another marriage."
"You've found another marriage partner?" Manager You was surprised.
He couldn't bring himself to ask, "Sir, who in this world would marry her?"
Master Liang pointed at him and cursed, "My daughter is the apple of the Liang family's eye, beautiful and talented, how could no one want to marry her?"
Manager You stood up and said, "She was involved with me before marriage. She's a used and faded woman. Who would want to marry her!"
At the same time, Liang Rou'er arrived at the door with the help of her maid and happened to hear his words. Her face turned pale instantly.
Manager You looked up and saw her. He quickly changed his tune and explained, "No, Rou'er, that's not what I meant!"
Liang Rou'er clutched her chest, tears streaming down her face.
Master Liang yelled at Manager You, "You, you'd better get out of here before I can speak properly!"
"Rou'er!" Manager You rushed forward, still wanting to explain to Liang Rou'er.
