Chapter 496 She Came to Repay a Kindness
A few days ago, Madam Fang took a liking to something and gave the two of them a piece of meat.
These two were saying they loved each other just a while ago, but they actually started fighting over this piece of meat.
Miss Biao first took the piece of meat in her hand, just about to take a bite.
Young Master Tang snatched it away, saying, "Cousin, I've suffered so much for you these past few days, let me have something good to eat first."
Having been pampered since childhood, this was the first time they had ever gone hungry.
Miss Cousin turned around and tried to grab it, saying, "Cousin, what do you mean you've suffered so much for me? If you hadn't wanted to kill my sister-in-law, we wouldn't be suffering here. Please give me a piece of meat, since I'm here with you."
Young Master Tang ignored her and even pushed her away, saying, "This woman is truly ungrateful. If it weren't for wanting to marry you, would I have been in such a hurry to lay a hand on that bitch?"
After saying that, he devoured the piece of meat like a stray dog that hadn't eaten for over ten years.
Miss Cousin stared blankly at him. Seeing his greedy expression, she instantly understood. She asked in a low voice, "Cousin, if your family came and demanded that you kill me before they would let you go, would you do it?"
Young Master Tang wiped his mouth but did not reply.
Miss Biao saw the hesitation in his eyes and instantly understood.
From that day on, she stopped giving in to Young Master Tang and would snatch food whenever it was available.
With both legs injured, Young Master Tang was no match for her if he tried to snatch the item by force.
Two days later, the eldest son and his wife of the Fang family arrived at the Fang residence.
Consort Li also accompanied them.
Consort Li, as the elder sister of the eldest son of the Tang family, came to the Fang family in person to take her younger brother back.
When Mr. and Mrs. Fang saw her, they could only bow.
They were merely wealthy merchants; how could they dare to oppose the favored Consort Li?
Young Master Tang and Miss Tang were released.
Consort Li sought out Young Master Tang alone.
Young Master Tang knelt on the ground, crying loudly, "Sister, why did you take so long to arrive? I was almost beaten to death by the Fang family!"
Consort Li slapped him hard across the face, the sound seemingly echoing throughout the Fang residence.
The young master Tang was stunned.
"Sister, you hit me?"
Consort Li's hands trembled slightly, her eyes filled with rage. "Shouldn't you have hit her? My sister-in-law is a quiet and gentle girl, yet you committed such a heinous act!"
Young Master Tang cupped his face and said, "This is all my father's fault. I clearly don't like her, but he still insists that I marry her!"
Consort Li retorted angrily, "Did Father force you to marry her? He said that if you didn't like her, he could let your third brother marry her. But what did you do? To secure your position in the family and for the Fang family's dowry, you insisted on marrying her even though you didn't want to!"
Young Master Tang stood there, head bowed, trying to hide his guilty expression.
Consort Li continued, "Do you know why Father and Mother haven't come yet? It's because they're afraid of losing face, afraid that others will know they raised such a good son as you!"
Young Master Tang knelt on the ground, tugging at her clothes, and said, "Sister, I know I was wrong. Please save me this time. The Fang family said they would drown us in a pig cage. Sister, please help me this time, for the sake of me helping you with this plan."
"Plan? What are you planning for me?" Consort Li asked in surprise.
While crying, Young Master Tang said, "Empress, Crown Prince, I have found them. Sister, I am about to help you kill them."
Consort Li was shocked and raised her hand, slapping Young Master Tang across the face without hesitation. "Who told you to do that!"
Young Master Tang quickly said, "Sister, if you kill the Empress and the Crown Prince, your child will be the Crown Prince in the future."
Consort Li was shocked. She grabbed his collar and said with tears in her eyes, "Nonsense! Our Crown Prince of Xuan Yue Kingdom can only be her son. No one can replace him."
The "she" she was referring to was the Empress.
Young Master Tang completely misunderstood; he mistakenly believed that his sister had entered the palace to compete for favor with powerful and wealthy men.
Actually, that's not the case. His sister just wanted to enter the palace to repay a debt of gratitude.
Ten years ago, when Zhou Da Niang was still the Empress, she saved a little girl on the road. This little girl was the eldest daughter of the Tang family who had been living away from home.
After Aunt Zhou took good care of her for half a year, she sent her back home.
Consort Li kept this kindness in her heart. Over the years, she had been searching for the Empress, and thus discovered that the Empress's death was related to the Emperor.
Left with no other choice, she entered the palace, hoping to find clues by the emperor's side. Unexpectedly, the empress and crown prince, whom so many others had failed to find, were actually found by her own foolish younger brother.
"Where is she?!"
Consort Li's voice was hoarse, and her body swayed slightly like a floating duckweed. After searching for so many years, she was finally about to find it.
Young Master Tang truthfully replied, "She is now the wife of the Zhou family."
"The Zhou family? You mean the newly emerging wealthy merchants in Cheng'an County?" Consort Li was slightly excited, and her tone was hurried.
Young Master Tang nodded and said, "That's right, it's the Zhou family. Their eldest son, Magistrate Zhou, is the Crown Prince."
Consort Li pulled him up, "How did you find them?"
