Chapter 5 Let's see the little wife

Chapter 5 Let's see the little wife

Aunt Zhou was stunned, somewhat confused.

Zhou Zhao suddenly widened her eyes and asked in surprise, "Mother, didn't you just say 'Let's go, let's go inside'?"

Aunt Zhou snapped back to reality, looking at him with equal surprise, "Zhao'er, you can hear me?!"

This time she didn't make any gestures.

With red eyes, Zhou Zhao nodded heavily and replied in a hoarse voice, "Yes, Mother, I can hear you."

Aunt Zhou was stunned. She strode up to Zhou Zhao and looked him up and down at his ears. "You can really hear?"

Zhou Zhao smiled and nodded, "Yes, Mother, I can hear you."

Aunt Zhou trembled with excitement. She reached out and cupped Zhou Zhao's face, tears streaming down her face. "My son, you can finally hear again! Look, those people don't want us to have a good life, but we'll show them what it's like to have a good life. Now that your ears are healed, it won't be long before your second brother's eyes and your eldest brother's legs are healed too!"

Zhou Zhao hugged Aunt Zhou tightly, tears streaming down her face.

Aunt Zhou, a woman raising three disabled sons, has truly endured enough scorn and contempt in the village.

When she first arrived, her sister-in-law pointed at Zhou Zhao's head and called him a deaf little man, laughing at him for being crippled for life. Now, things are better; the family finally has a complete person.

Du Wanchun, watching from the side, was also happy and smiled along with them, quietly helping them take the duck eggs into the kitchen.

Although today is a joyous occasion, the Zhou family simply couldn't afford to host a banquet for their guests, so none of the Chen family's relatives came.

Yesterday, Aunt Zhou's two younger sisters brought some radishes and cabbages, so that their new bride wouldn't go hungry on her first day.

When Du Wanchun arrived at the kitchen, there were already cooked cabbages and radishes, which must have been prepared by Aunt Zhou.

Du Wanchun put the duck eggs aside and prepared to go back when she heard a sound coming from outside.

It was a feisty woman's voice, "Hey! Second sister! Why didn't you invite your eldest brother and me to your wedding?"

Du Wanchun peeked out the window and saw a plump middle-aged woman wearing a dark green dress. Her round face and small eyes were narrowed into slits, giving her an indescribably mean look.

She raised her short chin and called out to Aunt Zhou arrogantly.

This woman was Jiang, Zhou Da Niang's sister-in-law. She had heard that Zhou's eldest son had married a mentally challenged woman, so she came to see the spectacle.

Aunt Zhou was just basking in the joy that her youngest son was no longer deaf, but Jiang's outburst immediately dampened her spirits.

She released Zhou Zhao and strode to the door, coldly saying to Jiang Shi, "Sister-in-law, didn't you say you were severing ties with us? Now that you've done so, why are we still inviting you?"

Jiang laughed loudly, "I think you're just afraid that if we see your silly daughter-in-law, you'll feel ashamed!"

Aunt Zhou sneered and said, "My eldest daughter-in-law is not only beautiful, but also very well-behaved and sensible. How is she shameful!"

Undeterred, Jiang barged into the house, grabbed a long bench, and sat down aggressively, taunting, "Second sister, stop bragging! I've heard that the Du family's daughter has been mentally challenged since childhood. Do you think if she gave birth to a son for your eldest son, he'd be mentally challenged too?!"

She glanced into Zhou Ruiyuan's room and continued to laugh sarcastically, "The family is already full of cripples, blind people, and deaf people, so what difference does it make if there are two more idiots?"

Her voice was loud, and Du Wanchun could hear it clearly from inside. She wasn't in a hurry. She cracked two of the duck eggs she had just taken and stir-fried them with some wild chives from the side, making a plate of chive and egg stir-fry.

She learned to cook when she was little. Although she was a bit slow before, she was quick-witted and skillful, and now she can cook with ease.

A dish was quickly cooked.

She carried the dishes, lifted the curtain, and walked out with a smile, "Mother, second brother, third brother, the food is ready."

A fragrant aroma wafted over, and everyone looked towards Du Wanchun.

Aunt Zhou was startled. It wasn't that she hadn't expected Du Wanchun to be able to cook, but rather that she felt sorry for her. How could she let this young girl cook as soon as she entered the house?

She walked over to Du Wanchun and quickly said, "Wanchun, go and rest in Ruiyuan's room. I'll take care of these things."

Du Wanchun placed the leek and duck egg dish on the table next to Jiang Shi and asked Zhou Da Niang with a smile, "Mother, who is this?"

Aunt Zhou replied, "She is your maternal aunt."

"Hello, Auntie." Du Wanchun greeted sweetly. She was petite and had a pleasing appearance, especially her big eyes, which everyone loved.

Jiang was staring at her intently, admiring her beautiful face, her composed smile, and the plate of fragrant eggs. She was completely stunned.

Such a young wife is hard to find anywhere else in the surrounding area; the Zhou family is incredibly lucky.

Jiang was furious. She had come to see the joke, but now she had been humiliated.

Her eldest son is older than Zhou Ruiyuan and has never married.

Looking at Zhou's gentle young wife now, he was so jealous that he wished he could smash that plate of scrambled eggs.
