Chapter 557 Premeditated Murder of the Emperor
The Third Prince exclaimed in surprise, "I never expected Zhou Feng to open an incense shop here."
Xuzhou is considered a remote area, and the population here is not as large as that of Qingzhou Prefecture and the capital.
It's not easy to set up an incense shop here.
The two, with their child in tow, arrived at the incense shop and looked up to see an old acquaintance.
It's Manager Bo.
Manager Bo arrived in Xuzhou with his wife and two children.
"Manager Bo, why have you come here?" Aunt Zhou asked with a smile.
Manager Bo was also surprised to see Aunt Zhou, "Madam Zhou."
Madam Wei was also startled and quickly came over, saying, "Madam Zhou!"
Seeing familiar faces, Aunt Zhou was overjoyed and walked into the house with a smile, saying, "I never expected to meet you here."
Madam Wei quickly served her tea and said with a smile, "Manager Zhou said he wants to open a new incense shop in Xuzhou and asked if we two would like to come. We thought that since the business needs someone to do it anyway, my husband and I might as well come and take care of it for a few days before going back. After all, it's quite far from the capital, and we wouldn't feel comfortable letting anyone else come."
"I see," Aunt Zhou said, suddenly realizing.
Wei's gaze fell on the baby girl she was holding. "Is this Xiao Zhouzhou?"
Aunt Zhou nodded with a smile, "That's right, but it can't speak yet."
Holding the baby's hand, Madam Wei smiled and said, "He's still young, no rush."
Manager Bo quickly brought chairs for the two of them. "The shop has just opened and we haven't hired any staff yet. Please don't mind, Madam and Master, have a seat."
Aunt Zhou smiled and said, "We're all family, no need to be so polite."
Manager Bo looked up and glanced into the distance, then whispered to Aunt Zhou, "Madam, I think someone in the distance has been watching you. Be careful, it might be some kind of thief."
Aunt Zhou turned around and followed his gaze, only to find no one there. She laughed and said, "It's probably some stinking beggar trying to ask us for money."
Manager Bo thought it made sense.
The Third Prince, however, was cautious and whispered, "We should still be careful."
Aunt Zhou nodded.
When Manager Bo saw them arrive, he gave some of the newly made incense to Aunt Zhou.
Aunt Zhou could tell from the smell that it was made by the eldest daughter of the Du family.
After Aunt Zhou left Cheng'an County, she passed on all her incense-making skills to Aunt Du.
Du's eldest aunt was also a clever person, and it didn't take long for her to develop her own unique fragrance.
This incense is selling quite well.
Aunt Zhou took a sniff and said to the Third Prince, "After a few days, I still want to go back to Cheng'an County."
In her eyes, Cheng'an County was already their true home.
The Third Prince helped her up and said with a smile, "Alright, then we'll go back to the manor, take care of the fields and fruit trees, and then make incense."
Aunt Zhou nodded in agreement.
Wei helped her pack the incense and then escorted them to the door.
Aunt Zhou and the Third Prince did not continue their stroll and returned to the small house by the same route.
Not long after they entered the mansion, the emperor slowly poked his head out from a carriage in the distance.
As night deepened, Aunt Zhou felt increasingly uneasy, sensing that something was about to happen.
The Third Prince embraced her and comforted her, saying, "Don't worry, I'm here and I won't let anything happen to you."
As he finished speaking, his gaze slowly darkened.
Just before evening, his men came to deliver a message that the Emperor had arrived and was staying around him, accompanied by many highly skilled bodyguards.
He was startled, but dared not tell Aunt Zhou about it, so he could only try to appease her first.
Therefore, the Third Prince specially dispatched many people to protect the small house, and also told Lu Yan about it.
Lu Yan had long harbored a great deal of hatred towards the emperor.
He took out his spear and said sternly, "Fine, this time he delivered himself to our door, so don't blame us for being ruthless."
The emperor secretly changed his route from Linzhou to Xuzhou, so even if they killed him here, no one could hold him accountable.
The Third Prince was, after all, his own younger brother, so there were some considerations.
Lu Yan said solemnly, "This time, if you don't kill him, he will kill you. Think it through yourself."
The Third Prince was suddenly awakened. He didn't care whether he lived or died, but his wife and daughters couldn't be harmed.
After a moment of thought, he asked, "What do you want me to do?"
Lu Yan said slowly, "Of course, it's about luring the tiger out of the mountain."
These days, the Third Prince has protected Granny Zhou and her child very well. If he wants to lure the tiger out of the mountain, he must first release the bait.
After thinking it over, the Third Prince nodded. "Alright, I'll listen to you."
Lu Yan was quite excited. "That's great! I can finally kill my enemies and avenge my father and brothers."
After he finished speaking, he turned to look at the Third Prince. "Your Highness, rest assured, only I can do this. You are brothers and father and son, and neither of you can disregard human relations and take action."
“But I am different. He is my absolute enemy. My father and my brother’s family all died tragically at his hands. If he doesn’t die, I will have no face to face my parents.”
The Third Prince lowered his eyes and gently patted his shoulder.
The next day at noon, Aunt Zhou and the Third Prince came to the incense shop again. However, this time, for safety reasons, they sent Xiao Zhouzhou back to the General's Mansion and asked Nan Fengling to take care of him.
They were just waiting for the emperor's men to appear.
