Chapter 660 No Farewell
"What are your requirements?" Aruo asked seriously, her mind focused.
The man in black glanced at Mianmian in his hand, a contemptuous smile in his voice, "Come back to Nanyi with me, and lead our remaining Nanyi tribe to rebuild our strength."
Aruo's eyes darkened instantly.
Over the years, he finally managed to escape that place he considered a nightmare.
Now they want him to go back.
Since Xiao Qing'er defeated the Southern Barbarians last time, they have been in a slump. The old king is now on his last breath and hopes that Aruo can return to take charge.
Knowing that Aruo was unwilling, they secretly followed them from the capital to this place, and then looked for an opportunity to make a move on Mianmian.
Aruo didn't hesitate for long before staring intently and asking seriously, "If I go back with you, will you let Mianmian go?"
The man in black said frankly, "That's right, we don't want to take action in the Southern Barbarian Kingdom, but the condition is that you must come back with us."
Aruo immediately replied, "Okay, I'll go back with you."
A look of surprise flashed in the man's eyes; he seemed not to have expected Aruo to answer so readily.
He laughed and said, "You'd better think this through. After you come back with me this time, you and this little princess will not only no longer be friends, but will become enemies."
"If you want to return to Xuan Yue Kingdom, you'll have to ride a warhorse and storm their borders."
The man in black's words rang in Aruo's ears like thunder, making his ears ache and his chest feel tight.
Aruo slowly lowered his gaze to Mianmian's unconscious face with her eyes closed.
She had never suffered any hardship, but seeing her being carried in the hands of the man in front of her, his heart ached.
He would rather see her suffer even the slightest grievance than never be able to see her again.
Aruo replied, "Okay, I promise you."
The man in black was overjoyed and slowly put down the cotton in his hand.
Upon seeing this, Aruo's eyes changed, and she gripped her longsword and thrust it towards the man in black.
His kung fu was learned from the Southern Barbarians of the past; it was fast and accurate.
The man in black had his clothes torn by him. "I knew you weren't going to be so obedient."
As soon as he finished speaking, a group of men in black rushed up from all around.
They each wielded a curved sword and swung it at Aruo without any mercy.
Aruo only wanted to save Mianmian. He rushed forward and scooped her into his arms. He leaped up and ran forward, carefully placing her on a soft patch of grass while she was still awake.
He gazed intently at that beautiful face, recalling the first time they met.
On Moon Spirit Mountain, he was seriously injured and lying in a small temple when Mianmian found him.
This parting today may be the last time we meet.
He reached out, his hand trembling, wanting to gently touch her cheek.
He wanted to touch the rare treasure that he had never dared to touch before parting ways.
Unfortunately, before his fingers could even touch Mianmian's cheek, a curved knife swung towards Aruo.
Aruo was stabbed hard in the back, blood splattering everywhere. He endured the excruciating pain and withdrew his hand, coldly saying to the people behind him, "No need to fight anymore, I'll go back with you."
Seeing this, the man in black withdrew his hand. "The Third Prince is indeed a man who knows how to adapt to circumstances."
He smiled and slowly sheathed his scimitar. "Let's go, Third Prince. We'll bandage your wounds along the way."
Aruo raised her hand and coldly refused, "No need."
He tore a strip of cloth from his body and casually tied it around the wound on his back. Then he tore another strip of cloth and carefully wiped away the bloodstains that had been splattered on Mianmian.
The man in black crossed his arms and asked with a puzzled smile, "What's this?"
After wiping the blood off Mianmian's body, Aruo also wiped the blood off the ground.
His face was pale and he was sweating profusely, but he remained meticulous. "Mianmian loves cleanliness the most, and this blood will stain her clothes."
The man in black slightly raised his eyes. This time, he didn't mock him. He turned to the side and said coldly, "Hurry up."
Aruo didn't reply and continued wiping.
After the bloodstains were wiped away, Aruo saw a carriage approaching in the distance, turned around and followed the man in black away.
They leaped onto a nearby horse.
Aruo pulled on the reins and looked back in Mianmian's direction.
A carriage stopped in front of Mianmian, and a man dressed in a silver robe jumped down from the carriage.
Aruo took a deep look at it and left without looking back.
As the horse galloped by, it raised a cloud of smoke, and Aruo's figure gradually appeared.
Mianmian slightly opened her eyes and, enduring the pain, called out, "Aruo..."
"Mianmian, you're awake." Xiao Qing'er held her in her arms and asked anxiously.
Mianmian pressed her slightly throbbing head and asked Xiao Qing'er, "Brother Qing'er, what's wrong?"
At this moment, Bo Wenjun and Zhouzhou also arrived.
They dismounted from the carriage and jogged over, "Mianmian, are you alright?"
Mianmian was still a little dizzy. "What just happened?"
Bo Wenjun quickly said, "Just now, a man in black knocked you unconscious and kidnapped you."
As she spoke, she looked at Xiao Qing'er beside her and said, "Fortunately, Qing'er came and saved you."
Mianmian suddenly realized what was happening and looked at Xiao Qing'er with great gratitude, "Thank you so much for saving me, Brother Qing'er."
The two hadn't seen each other for a long time and were slightly estranged.
Xiao Qing'er was overjoyed to see her and didn't care about the slight awkwardness. "Mianmian, come on, I'll take you back first."
Mianmian looked up and realized that she was outside Cheng'an County. She could go home as soon as she walked further in.
Xiao Qing'er carried her onto the carriage, with Bo Wenjun and Zhouzhou following closely behind.
On the carriage, Mianmian finally remembered what had happened.
Just as they were preparing to return to the city today, a group of men in black suddenly appeared. Aruo stayed behind alone while she led Bo Wenjun and the others to escape.
However, she was knocked unconscious before she could run more than a few steps.
Mianmian quickly sat up. "Where's Aruo? Wenjun, Zhouzhou, have you seen Aruo?"
