Chapter 671 Aruo is getting married
Qu's eldest son said slowly, "It wasn't a serious illness. I've fully recovered now, Mother, don't worry."
Granny Qu wiped away her tears and nodded emphatically, "Come on, Ming'er, let's go inside quickly."
The eldest son of the Qu family helped his elderly mother into the house.
The eldest son of the Qu family has been seriously ill for years. A few days ago, he almost died, but somehow, he suddenly recovered.
As soon as he recovered, he rushed back to take care of his mother.
Granny Qu asked her eldest son, "It would be even better if your sister could come back."
Qu's eldest son smiled and said, "Mother, don't worry, she'll be back in a few days. She wrote to me a few days ago, saying she wanted to come back and see you."
The daughter of the Qu family married far away more than ten years ago and has been controlled by her mother-in-law ever since. The wicked mother-in-law wouldn't let her go back to her parents' home and almost broke her legs several times.
Just a few days ago, her wicked mother-in-law accidentally fell off the mountain.
She then took control of her life and, after settling the children, brought her family back to see her mother.
Granny Qu was very happy and got up to go into the kitchen to cook for the child.
She opened the rice jar, scooped up a spoonful of rice; Mianmian and the others had been eating almost all of it these past few days while they were here.
Granny Qu scooped up another spoonful and found something hard inside.
She quickly reached out and touched it, then took the contents out.
In his hand were two gleaming gold ingots.
Granny Qu was greatly alarmed and hurriedly called to her son, "Ming'er, come and see what this is!"
When Qu's eldest son came over and saw the two gold ingots, he was startled. "Mother, where did you get this gold?"
Granny Qu shook her head, bewildered by the gold. "I just found it in the rice jar! We don't have that much gold in our house!"
As she spoke, she suddenly thought of Mianmian and Qing'er, "Could it be them?"
The eldest son of the Qu family asked, "Who is it?"
Granny Qu rushed out with the gold in her hands, but when she got to the door, she suddenly remembered that Mianmian and the others had gone far away.
Tears streaming down her face, she muttered, "These two kids are really something. They stayed here for a few days and not only did they help me repair the house, but they also left me such a large sum of gold. How can I possibly accept this!"
The eldest son of the Qu family came up behind her and asked, "Mother, has anyone been to the house?"
Granny Qu turned around, looked back at her eldest son, nodded, and told him about Mianmian and the others' arrival.
Qu's eldest son was very grateful after hearing this and said, "Mother, please keep these for now. If I meet them in the future, I will pay them back with more money."
Granny Qu stuffed the gold into his hand, saying, "Here, take this and pay it back for me."
The eldest son of the Qu family shook his head, "That won't do either. This gold is for you, I can't take it."
He forcefully put the gold back into Granny Qu's hand.
Her son has always been like that—stubborn and inflexible. No matter how much she tries to persuade him, she won't accept him.
Left with no other choice, Granny Qu had to accept it.
These two ingots of gold were enough for them to buy land, build a house, and live a peaceful life for more than ten years.
Granny Qu was extremely grateful. She walked to the village entrance and bowed deeply in the direction Mianmian had left.
Mianmian had already eaten all the eggs that Granny Qu had given her.
After finishing their meal, they added, "If we have time in the future, we'll come to see you again, Granny."
Qing'er smiled and nodded, "Okay, I'll do whatever you say."
Mianmian was delighted to hear this, and walked to Qing'er's side to drive the carriage with him.
As the carriage continued its journey, they soon arrived outside the gates of the capital.
Qing'er slowly reached out and grasped Mianmian's hand.
Mianmian stiffened for a moment, but quickly relaxed and held him tightly.
Qing'er smiled broadly and hurried back to the capital in the carriage.
After the two returned, Mianmian first went to Du Wanchun and Zhou Ruiyuan to let them know she was safe.
Du Wanchun missed her daughter. When she heard that her daughter was coming back, she was already waiting at the door before her daughter even entered.
"Mianmian!"
She smiled and called out to Mianmian.
Mianmian strode forward and threw herself into Du Wanchun's arms, telling her all the things that had happened in the past few days.
They were chatting and laughing at the same time, but when they talked about Aruo, her eyes darkened again.
Du Wanchun held her hand and said slowly, "You don't need to worry about him. I heard from your father that after Aruo returned to Nanyi, the old king died. He killed those who had persecuted him and is now the new king. I heard that he will soon marry a new queen."
Du Wanchun did not elaborate on this matter.
Aruo, a hostage, even if he were to become the king after returning home, would still be oppressed by the forces behind him.
Those people have always wanted to launch another attack on Xuan Yue Kingdom in order to avenge their grievances.
For the sake of peace between the two countries and to avoid standing against Mianmian, Aruo specifically sought the help of the Imperial Advisor to kill those who wanted to control him and help him secure his position as king.
But the prerequisite is that he must marry the Grand Preceptor's daughter after he has secured his position.
Mianmian didn't know any of this. All she knew was that Aruo was getting married and would no longer be alone.
Mianmian smiled with relief, "That's good. I'll give him a big gift when he gets married."
Seeing her daughter's smile, Du Wanchun didn't say much, but nodded and said, "Okay, whatever you want to send, I'll send it for you."
Mianmian was overjoyed, and in her excitement, she almost forgot about the important matter at hand.
Du Wanchun took the initiative to say, "Mianmian, your brother Qing'er has been granted the title of Prince, and he will be free to do as he pleases from now on, no longer bound by his status as Crown Prince."
"You and him...what will happen in the future?"
She asked the question subtly, waiting for Mianmian's reply.
