Chapter 695 Avenging His Wife (2/2)

Qin'er nodded.

She leaned against his lap, ate two pieces of pastry, and then couldn't eat anymore. When she looked up, she happened to see the bundle of pastries.

The top is embroidered with two orchids, and the stitching is exactly the same as her mother's.

She stretched out her hand, pointed to the embroidery, and asked, "Young Master Zhou, where did you get this bundle?"

Yu'er looked down and replied, "This is what my mother usually uses; it seems to have been around for many years."

This bundle was something they had when they were young. Later, when they went to the capital, it was left in the old house. Now they've taken it out to use again.

When Yu'er got to this point, he suddenly remembered what Du Wanchun had told him before he left. He quickly said, "It was probably that year when my mother and I bought it from a little girl on the street in Qingzhou Prefecture. We felt sorry for the girl, so we bought all the embroidery she had and gave her a large sum of money."

Qin'er was immediately taken aback. She stared blankly at Yu'er, her hands clasped tightly together. "Young Master Zhou, do you remember telling you about my sweetheart?"

Yu'er nodded. Of course he knew that Qin'er had mentioned her to him many times.

She said that when she was young, her parents were seriously ill. A young master gave her money, which saved their lives and allowed her to settle down with them in Ruan County.

She remembered that the young master gave her a handkerchief and told her to wipe her tears.

She still holds that handkerchief in her hand.

Qin'er took out the handkerchief from her bosom and said, "I am the little girl who bought the embroidery from you and your mother."

Yu'er was stunned. It took him a long time to process what had happened.

"You're saying that the young master who did you a favor is me?"

He pointed incredulously at himself.

A few tears welled up in Qin'er's eyes. "That's right."

As she spoke, she unfolded the handkerchief again for Yu'er to see, "You may have forgotten, think about it again."

Yu'er looked down at the handkerchief. In all the years he had known Qin'er, this was the first time he had examined it so closely.

The white handkerchief was no different from the others, except that it had a crookedly embroidered character for "cotton" on it.

Yu'er gradually formed a picture in her mind: this handkerchief was made of cotton, and her mother had specially embroidered the character "cotton" on it so that it wouldn't get lost.

But he accidentally lost it.

He didn't actually give the handkerchief to the little girl to wipe her tears. Just then, a gust of wind blew by, and while he wasn't paying attention, it blew the handkerchief he had tucked into his sleeve into the little girl's hand.

That's why he doesn't remember it.

Yu'er never expected that because of this gust of wind, Qin'er would remember him for years.

He gripped the handkerchief tightly, unsure whether to thank Mianmian or the gust of wind.

Yu'er grasped Qin'er's hand tightly, her eyes deep, and said softly, "I remember now, this handkerchief was indeed given to you by me, and the character 'Mian' on it is my sister's name."

Qin'er suddenly realized, looked at the handkerchief, and smiled with relief: "So it's my sister. I thought it was your childhood sweetheart."

Yu'er quickly replied, "I don't have any childhood sweetheart. If I do, it's you."

He held Qin'er's hand tightly. "Come to the capital with me. I will take good care of you."

Qin'er also hesitated, laughing and crying at the same time, and said, "Yes, I will go to the capital with you."

Yu'er was overjoyed and hugged Qin'er tightly.

In fact, Qin'er also had feelings for him, but she was obsessed with the benefactor from her childhood and hadn't seen her own heart clearly.

When Yu'er rushed in to save her today, she finally understood that she had feelings for her.

It is a pleasant surprise to discover that Yu'er was the benefactor from back then.

Yu'er didn't linger and took Qin'er back to her home first.

Qin'er is currently too weak to travel a long distance to the capital.

After Yu'er brought her home, Ling'er helped to invite a doctor.

After taking Qin'er's pulse, the doctor frowned noticeably. "This girl is just a hair's breadth away from dying."

Yu'er's heart tightened, feeling a sharp pain as if cut by a knife. She looked at Qin'er's pale face with heartache and asked anxiously, "How is she now?"

The doctor said slowly, "Fortunately, the prince arrived in time; otherwise, she would have died if it had been another day later."

When Yu'er heard that Qin'er was alright, she gradually felt relieved.

The doctor then prescribed two doses of medicine for them and left.

Yu'er held Qin'er's hand tightly and asked in a deep voice, "You're so foolish, why do you insist on starving yourself?"

Qin'er smiled weakly and said, "I've thought about it. If I'm really bullied by that Manager Liu, I'd rather die."

Yu'er immediately interrupted her, "No, you must never say that word again. No matter what, you must live well."

Qin'er was beautiful, as pure and clear as the morning dew.

Even though she is pale now, she can still captivate people's hearts.

Although Yu'er is young, she has the fine tradition of the Zhou family: once she meets someone in her life, that person can only be her.

He pulled the blanket up for Qin'er, then turned to her younger sister Ling'er and asked, "What happened while I was gone? Why did that Manager Liu suddenly target your sister?"

Ling'er lowered her head, hesitated for a moment, and then said, "It's all because of Miss Xu."

"Which Miss Xu?" Yu'er asked, puzzled.
