Chapter 697 Wan Chun's Mother Has Arrived (2/2)

The two walked hand in hand, looking just like an ordinary elderly couple.

Aunt Zhou was waiting at the door. When she saw the two of them carrying a basket and walking towards them, she immediately ran up to greet them, "Father-in-law and mother-in-law, you've finally arrived."

The woman smiled, her eyes crinkling into crescent moons. "My dear in-laws, you've been waiting a long time. We live in a remote area, and we've traveled by boat and carriage all the way here. We've only just arrived."

Aunt Zhou welcomed them inside, saying, "It's alright, it's alright. If I had known, I would have had Ruiyuan and the others pick you up."

The woman shook her head. "That's not necessary. The two of us can do it ourselves."

Du Wanchun and Zhou Ruiyuan came to the door together, saying, "Father, Mother."

The woman stepped forward and embraced Du Wanchun, asking, "You haven't seen your mother for so many years, have you missed her?"

As the saying goes, no matter how old you are, you're still a child in your parents' eyes.

Du Wanchun's eyes were red, and she nodded repeatedly, "I miss my mother."

The woman gently wiped away the tears on her cheeks and said softly with a smile, "Mother misses you too."

Although she kept watching her daughter,

Du Wanchun's father watched silently from the side, his eyes filled with longing for his child.

The mother and daughter hugged for a while before continuing to walk into the house.

With their arrival, the family dinner officially began.

A large family like ours needs two large tables to fill them all.

Du Wanchun handed her two grandchildren to her parents to hold.

The woman hadn't held such a small child in a long time and was a little hesitant.

The man rushed to take the two children into his arms.

He coaxed them while laughing, "Don't these two kids look like the eldest and the second eldest?"

The woman looked down and realized it was true.

They all look just like Du Wanchun.

So both children resemble their uncle somewhat.

This was Zhou Ruiyuan's first formal meeting with his parents-in-law, and he stood respectfully to serve them food.

After the woman noticed, she whispered to him, "It's alright. We're not meeting for the first time. We're all family. There's no need to be too nervous."

Zhou Ruiyuan was then less tense.

With all the dishes served, the family began their meal in harmony and happiness.

Although it was supposed to be a meal, no one ate anything; they all gathered together chatting and laughing.

Du Wanchun's parents were coaxing the two little children, their mouths agape with laughter.

Mianmian would also come over from time to time to serve food to her maternal grandparents, whom she was meeting for the first time.

She always felt that her two maternal grandparents were a bit strange, and their behavior was not like that of elderly people.

It's more like the blessing of being as young as one's parents.

My maternal grandfather's eyes were only on my maternal grandmother.

She was filled with envy, but Qing'er didn't give her much time to be envious and quickly pulled her into her gentle embrace.

The night was as still as water, and the bright moon hung high in the sky.

The silvery moonlight, like a thin veil, spilled over the Zhou family's house.

The rooftops and courtyard were covered with what looked like a thin layer of frost.

The Zhou family was reunited, and laughter filled the air.

Changliu Village is still the same Changliu Village, and the Zhou family is still the same Zhou family.

It seems like everything has changed, yet it also seems like nothing has changed.

Du Wanchun's parents were all smiles when they saw their daughter living a happy and peaceful life.

They placed the baskets they had brought on the table. "Wanchun, Ruiyuan, we have brought you a great gift."

Du Wanchun slowly got up to look, and saw that the basket was full of all kinds of jade artifacts.

Her mother said with a smile, "These jade items are not worth much money, but they all bring good fortune. Everyone should pick one to wear and it will ensure their safety forever."

Du Wanchun understood the meaning behind this and quickly thanked them, saying, "Thank you, Father and Mother."

Wan Chunniang waved her hand and said, "Don't thank me yet, come and choose."

Du Wanchun replied, "Yes, Mother."

After she finished speaking, she immediately called everyone to come and make their selections.
