Chapter 11 Getting Married

Those eyes were deep, like those of some cold, beastly creature, sending chills down one's spine simply by being stared at. Shen Youying's eyelashes trembled slightly, and she hurriedly moved the crooked fan in front of her, hugging her father's neck tightly.

Xue Shen took in her reaction, smoothed his sleeves, and smiled with interest.

I used to think she was incredibly bold, but today she seems rather timid.

.

Shen Mingjiang gently put his daughter down, looking at her with great reluctance, and instructed her: "Although you are now a married woman, you are still your father's daughter. If anyone wrongs you, come back and tell your father, and your father will stand up for you."

Unexpectedly, he said this in front of the King of Qin. Fang Shi and the others' expressions changed, and they subconsciously looked at the King of Qin.

But Shen Mingjiang wouldn't let his daughter suffer because of some ridiculous saying that "a married daughter is like water spilled from a bowl." He picked up the tiger-headed golden spear that was lying to the side, slammed it heavily in front of Xue Shen, and laughed heartily, "Zhaozhao is young and spoiled at home. I originally wanted to keep her for a few more years, but I didn't expect the Emperor to bestow such a favor... In my haste, I didn't prepare a good dowry for her, so I gave her this tiger-headed spear that has accompanied me in battle for decades as a dowry."

He casually tossed the tiger-headed spear to the guard beside Xue Shen. The spear, weighing over eighty pounds, struck the guard so hard that he stumbled and barely managed to catch it.

Xue Shen touched the slightly weathered patterns on the tiger-head spear, his face revealing neither joy nor displeasure: "Father-in-law is quite generous."

"It's just a gun, nothing compared to Zhaozhao." Shen Mingjiang stopped smiling and said solemnly, "If Zhaozhao displeases the prince in the future, the prince can send her back and let me, her father, discipline her personally."

Xue Shen smiled, took the red silk handed over by the matchmaker, and glanced at the young bride at the other end of the silk: "Father-in-law is wrong. My queen consort is, of course, to be disciplined by me."

After saying this, he accepted the fresh tea offered by the servant and served it to the servant.

After drinking the tea for his new son-in-law, Shen Mingjiang, no matter how reluctant or worried he was, had to let him leave.

Looking at her father's face, etched with the marks of time, Shen Youying's eyes welled up with tears. Her hand holding the fan trembled slightly, but she still bit her lip to hold back her sobs and bowed gracefully, saying, "Daughter bids farewell to Father."

Outside the main hall, the matchmaker shouted, "The bride is leaving!" Shen Youying, surrounded by Bai Luo and Dan Zhu, followed Xue Shen out the door.

Watching the lively procession disappear into the distance, Shen Mingjiang sat down with a heavy heart, realizing that he couldn't see through the King of Qin's schemes.
